Lending dApps are blockchain-based money markets. You connect a crypto wallet, deposit assets such as ETH or stablecoins to earn interest, or lock up collateral and borrow against it without selling your holdings. This page ranks 255 lending protocols across chains including Ethereum, Solana, BNB Chain, Sui and others.
The protocols run on smart contracts instead of a bank. Borrowers pay interest, and most of it goes to depositors, while a share usually goes to the protocol treasury as a reserve fee. Some, like Aave V3, Compound V3 and SparkLend, use shared pools with rates set by utilization or governance. Others, like Morpho Blue and Euler V2, split markets into isolated or curated vaults. Liquidation fees and flash-loan fees can add further revenue.
When comparing, look at the chains you can use, the collateral and assets on offer, and how rates are set. Also weigh audit history, past exploits, oracle design and the size of liquidity, since deeper markets tend to handle withdrawals and liquidations better. On Solana, Kamino Lend and Jupiter Lend are leading options. On BNB Chain, look at Venus Core Pool and Lista Lending. Always read the risk disclosures before depositing.

Frequently asked questions
What is a DeFi lending protocol?
A DeFi lending protocol is a set of smart contracts that lets people deposit crypto to earn interest and lets others borrow against collateral. There is no bank or loan officer. Rates, collateral rules and liquidations are handled by code and, in many cases, by token-holder governance.
Why do I need to put up more collateral than I borrow?
Most DeFi loans are over-collateralized, meaning you lock up more value than you borrow. If your collateral value falls and your loan-to-value ratio passes a set limit, part of the collateral is sold automatically to repay the debt. A liquidation penalty usually applies, so it is wise to keep a wide safety margin.
Where does the interest on deposits come from?
Yield comes from borrowers paying interest, so rates move with supply and demand. Some protocols also add token incentives on top, which can fade over time. Check whether a quoted rate is variable, fixed or partly reward-driven before relying on it.
What are the main risks of using a lending dApp?
Main risks include smart contract bugs, oracle failures or manipulation, liquidation during sharp price drops, and the failure of a collateral asset or stablecoin. Curated vaults add the risk of the curator's choices. Some protocols have faced exploits, so look at audit history and incident records, and never deposit more than you can afford to lose.
Which lending protocols are the biggest?
Aave V3, Morpho Blue and SparkLend hold the largest deposits on our list, with Aave V3 at about $16 billion in TVL at the time of writing. Size is a rough sign of use and track record, but it does not guarantee safety. Compare audits, time in operation, supported assets and how the protocol has handled stress events.
Is DeFi lending the same as gambling?
No. Lending dApps are financial tools, not casino games, though some people treat leveraged loops as speculation, which carries high risk of loss. If you also use crypto gambling sites, you must be 18+ (21+ in some places) and should check that online gambling is legal where you live. Nothing here is financial advice.
What is the largest lending dApp by TVL?
Aave V3 is the largest lending dApp by total value locked, with $15.1B. It is followed by Morpho Blue ($10.9B) and SparkLend ($5.21B). TVL figures come from DefiLlama and change daily.
Which lending dApp has the highest DappsAtlas score?
Aave V3 has the highest score at 8.6/10, ahead of Morpho Blue (8.0) and SparkLend (8.0). Scores weigh security, ease of use, fees and features, and are based only on facts we could verify.
How many lending dApps does DappsAtlas track?
