Our verdict on Save
6.8/10Save suits Solana users who want a familiar lending and borrowing market with real scale, about $76M in TVL, and a long history under the Solend name. Its strengths are the established brand, listed audits and clear dashboard controls such as outflow limits. The main caveat is risk: smart-contract exposure, liquidation risk and a user complaint about one pool mean you should read each pool carefully and keep positions small. Fees are not published publicly reviewed.

What is Save?
Save is a decentralized lending and borrowing protocol on Solana. It was previously called Solend, and public reporting indicates it launched in August 2021 and rebranded to Save in 2024. DeFiLlama files it under Lending and lists Solana and Eclipse as its chains.
The homepage describes it as Solana's permissionless savings account and compares it to Aave or Compound. Users can earn interest by lending crypto, or use deposits as collateral to borrow.
DeFiLlama shows about $76.2M in TVL, down 4.3% over seven days, plus a SAVE token and two listed audits. The site also lists saveSOL, a liquid staking product.
This review is based on public data and homepage, not hands-on use. The homepage dashboard displayed zero values when the data was captured, because it was still loading.
How Save works
Save is a money market. Lenders deposit crypto into a pool and earn interest. Borrowers lock up deposits as collateral and borrow other assets from the same pool, paying a borrow rate. Rates are set by the protocol and shown per asset.
Each borrower has a loan-to-value limit. If collateral value drops and the position becomes too risky, liquidators can repay part of the debt and take collateral at a discount. The dashboard describes the liquidator role as permissionless, so anyone can perform this.
Pools also display an outflow limit, which caps how much can leave in a set period. Save also lists saveSOL, a liquid staking product.

Pros and cons
What we like
- Long-running Solana lending protocol with a recognized history as Solend.
- Sizable TVL of about $76M according to DeFiLlama.
- Two audits are listed on DeFiLlama.
- Permissionless liquidations and per-pool outflow limits are visible in the interface.
- Broader product set including saveSOL liquid staking, rewards and a dedicated security page.
Watch out for
- Smart-contract risk: funds sit in on-chain pools, and a bug or oracle failure could cause losses.
- Borrowers can be liquidated if collateral value falls, which is a real risk in volatile markets.
- A user forum post in public reporting alleges losses in one pool and calls the project a scam; this is an unverified claim, but it shows pool-level risk matters.
- Fees, interest rate models and per-asset risk parameters are not published publicly reviewed, so users must read them on the dashboard.
- TVL fell 4.3% over the last 7 days, and activity depends heavily on the Solana ecosystem.
Save fees
Fees are not published publicly reviewed. The homepage dashboard shows a deposit APR and borrow APR for each asset, which is where users would see current rates.
Any protocol fees, such as a share of interest or liquidation penalties, should be checked in the documentation and the Revenue page. Users also pay normal Solana network transaction fees when they interact with the protocol.
Is Save safe?
DeFiLlama lists two audits for Save. The protocol is non-custodial in the usual money-market sense: you connect your own wallet and funds sit in on-chain pools. Audits reduce risk but do not remove smart-contract, oracle or market risks, and the audit details were not public reviewed.
One forum post in public reporting claims losses in a specific pool and calls Save a scam. That is a single unverified user claim, but it is a reminder to read pool-level details and to size positions carefully. Borrowers also face liquidation if collateral prices fall. Regulatory status is not stated publicly. Check the official Security page and docs for audit reports and incident history.
6 steps
How to get started with Save
- 1
Check the official Save website and confirm the address carefully, since lookalike sites exist.
- 2
Set up a Solana wallet and fund it with the asset you plan to deposit plus a little SOL for network fees.
- 3
Connect the wallet on the dashboard and open the pools list.
- 4
Compare deposit APR, borrow APR and LTV for each asset and read the pool details and the Security page.
- 5
Start with a small deposit and watch your position before adding more.
- 6
If borrowing, keep a safe buffer below the liquidation threshold and monitor your collateral.
Who Save is for
Save is for crypto users already comfortable with Solana wallets who want to earn interest on idle assets or borrow against collateral. It suits people who can monitor a loan and understand liquidation risk. It is not a fit for anyone who needs insured or guaranteed savings.
Save FAQs
Is Save the same as Solend?
Save is the new name of Solend, one of the older DeFi apps on Solana. Public reporting indicates the rebrand happened in 2024, alongside new products such as liquid staking.
What does Save do?
You deposit crypto into a pool to earn a deposit APR, or you post deposits as collateral and borrow other assets at a borrow APR. Rates are shown per asset on the dashboard.
Which blockchains does Save support?
DeFiLlama lists Save on Solana and Eclipse. The homepage focuses on Solana, and the protocol describes itself as built for that network.
Is Save safe?
No lending protocol is risk-free. DeFiLlama lists two audits, but audits do not remove smart-contract, oracle or liquidation risk, and a forum post alleges losses in one pool. Only use funds you can afford to lose and read each pool's details.
Does Save have a token?
DeFiLlama lists a SAVE token. Public sources reviewed do not detail its utility, so check the official docs before assuming any specific function.
What are the fees on Save?
Public sources reviewed do not publish a fee schedule. Interest rates appear per asset on the dashboard, and any protocol fees should be in the documentation.
