Derivatives dApps let people trade contracts whose value follows another asset, most often perpetual futures on crypto, and increasingly on stocks, commodities and currencies. Instead of opening an account with a central exchange, you connect a wallet, post collateral to a smart contract or app chain, and take a long or short position, often with leverage. This page lists 124 derivatives dApps, and you must be 18 or older (21 or older where required) to trade. Check that this activity is legal where you live.

The platforms work in a few different ways. Some, like Jupiter Perpetual Exchange, use a liquidity pool that traders trade against at oracle prices. Others, like dYdX V4, Perpl and Decibel, run an on-chain order book on their own chain. Hyperliquid HLP is a vault that does market making for the Hyperliquid exchange, while Contango V2 automates leveraged looping on lending markets. Revenue mostly comes from trading fees, funding payments and liquidation fees, which are shared with liquidity providers or token stakers depending on the design.

When choosing one, compare liquidity and TVL (Jupiter Perpetual Exchange is the largest here at about $695 million at the time of writing), the markets on offer, fees and funding rates, and the chain it runs on. Also weigh audit history, oracle design, withdrawal paths and whether the platform is open in your region. Leverage can wipe out your collateral quickly, so treat any of these as high-risk and never trade money you cannot afford to lose.

Frequently asked questions

What is a perpetual futures dApp?

A perpetual future is a derivatives contract that tracks an asset's price and has no expiry date. Traders can go long or short, often with leverage. A funding rate paid between longs and shorts keeps the contract price close to the spot price.

Are decentralized derivatives exchanges safer than centralized ones?

Not necessarily. Many of these platforms are non-custodial, so you trade from your own wallet and funds sit in smart contracts rather than with a company. That brings its own risks, including smart contract bugs, oracle failures and bridge problems. Some venues also use their own chains or off-chain order matching, so read how each one holds collateral.

How risky is leverage trading on these platforms?

Leverage multiplies both gains and losses. If the market moves against you by a small amount, your position can be liquidated and you can lose all the collateral you posted. High leverage settings, such as those advertised by MUX Perps or Evedex, suit only experienced traders who understand margin and liquidation prices.

How do liquidity providers earn on perp DEXs?

Liquidity providers deposit funds into a pool or vault and earn a share of trading fees, and sometimes liquidation income. They also take the other side of trader profits, so they can lose money when traders win. Jupiter Perpetual Exchange and Hyperliquid HLP are well-known examples of this model, and returns are not guaranteed.

Is trading derivatives on a dApp legal where I live?

Rules differ by country and by platform. Some protocols restrict users from certain regions, such as the US, and gambling or derivatives laws may apply. You must be 18 or older, or 21 or older where the law requires, and should confirm that this kind of trading is legal where you live. Do not try to bypass location checks or any identity or age requirements.

What should I compare before choosing a perp DEX?

Compare total value locked as a rough measure of liquidity, but also look at available markets, fee levels, funding rates, audit history and how prices are sourced. Check which chain the platform runs on, how deposits and withdrawals work, and whether the team has a track record. Newer venues such as BULK or RISEx can offer speed but carry more early-stage risk.

What is the largest derivatives dApp by TVL?

Jupiter Perpetual Exchange is the largest derivatives dApp by total value locked, with $661M. It is followed by Hyperliquid HLP ($151M) and dYdX V4 ($72.1M). TVL figures come from DefiLlama and change daily.

Which derivatives dApp has the highest DappsAtlas score?

Hyperliquid has the highest score at 7.8/10, ahead of Contango V2 (7.5) and Gtrade by Gains Network (7.5). Scores weigh security, ease of use, fees and features, and are based only on facts we could verify.

How many derivatives dApps does DappsAtlas track?

DappsAtlas tracks 227 derivatives dApps. Of these, 227 have a full review and 136 report value locked, $1.26B in total.

What chains do most derivatives dApps run on?

Arbitrum is the most common, with 63 of 227 derivatives dApps, followed by Ethereum (48) and Base (38). 35% are deployed on more than one chain.

Which derivatives dApps grew the most this week?

Among derivatives dApps with at least $1M locked, Contango V2 had the biggest 7-day TVL gain (+138%) and StandX Bridge the biggest drop (−62.5%). Combined TVL moved −6.6% over the same seven days.

What is the average score for derivatives dApps?

The 150 rated derivatives dApps average 5.4 out of 10. Of these, 0 score 8 or higher and 47 score below 5.
