Our verdict on SynFutures V3

6.8/10

SynFutures V3 suits experienced DeFi traders who want on-chain perpetual futures with an AMM plus order book design and the option to create markets on arbitrary assets. Its main strength is that structure and the move toward RWA exposure. The main caveat is size: TVL of about $2.1M is small, fees and limits are not published publicly, and leveraged trading can lead to rapid losses. Beginners should be cautious.

What is SynFutures V3?

SynFutures V3 is a decentralized derivatives protocol for perpetual futures. DefiLlama files it under Derivatives and lists it on Base and Blast, with listing since March 2024. The project's homepage describes it as an onchain trading protocol for crypto and real-world assets, including stocks and ETFs.

The main technical idea in V3 is the oAMM, which combines an AMM and an on-chain matching order book. SynFutures also says users can create futures on arbitrary assets. Press coverage from October 2023 reported that the team raised $22 million and had recorded over $22 billion in cumulative volume at that time.

Current scale is modest. TVL is about $2.08M, down 10.2% over seven days. The protocol has its own token, F, and DefiLlama lists two audits.

How SynFutures V3 works

A perpetual future is a contract that tracks an asset's price with no expiry date. Traders post collateral, called margin, and take a long or short position with leverage. If the price moves against them far enough, the position is liquidated.

SynFutures V3 uses what it calls an oAMM, a design that unifies an automated market maker with an on-chain matching order book. Liquidity providers can fund the AMM side, while traders can also interact with order-book style pricing. The project describes this as an industry first.

The protocol also says users can create futures contracts on arbitrary assets within seconds. Positions and settlement run in smart contracts on Base and Blast, so users keep custody of funds in their wallets until they deposit margin.

6 features

Key features

01

Unified oAMM and order book

V3 combines an AMM with an on-chain matching order book, which the project calls an oAMM and describes as a first for the industry.

02

Perpetual futures trading

Users can trade perpetual futures on crypto assets, which are contracts with no expiry that track an underlying price.

03

Permissionless market creation

The protocol says users can create arbitrary futures contracts on any asset within seconds, rather than waiting for a team to list a market.

04

RWA and stock exposure

The homepage describes trading of crypto and real-world assets, including stocks, ETFs and derivatives, onchain.

05

Base and Blast deployment

DefiLlama lists SynFutures V3 on Base and Blast, two Ethereum layer-2 networks.

06

F token and audits

The F token is listed by DefiLlama and traded on markets, and the project is tracked with two listed audits.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Combines an AMM with an on-chain order book, aiming for deeper pricing than a pure AMM.
  • Lets users create futures on arbitrary assets rather than relying only on listed markets.
  • Runs on Base and Blast, where gas costs are generally lower than on Ethereum mainnet.
  • Two audits are listed on DefiLlama.
  • Has been listed since March 2024 and the team reported a $22 million raise in 2023.
  • Positions are in smart contracts, so users hold funds in their own wallets outside of margin.

Watch out for

  • TVL of about $2.08M is small for a derivatives venue, and fell 10.2% over seven days, which can mean thin liquidity for larger trades.
  • Fee schedule, margin requirements and leverage limits are not published publicly reviewed here.
  • Perpetual futures with leverage can lead to fast liquidation and total loss of margin.
  • Only two audits are listed, and the project does not name the auditors or say what was covered.
  • The F token trades at a fraction of a cent and is volatile, so any token incentives carry price risk.
  • Its homepage available was minimal, so details on the RWA and stock products could not be confirmed.

SynFutures V3 fees

SynFutures' fee schedule is not public reviewed. Perpetual futures protocols typically charge trading fees and funding payments between longs and shorts, and users also pay network gas on Base or Blast.

Current figures should be visible in the trading interface and the project's documentation before a trade is opened. Treat any cost estimate as unconfirmed until you see it there.

Is SynFutures V3 safe?

DefiLlama lists two audits for SynFutures V3, but the auditors and findings are not public here. Audits lower risk but do not eliminate it, and smart-contract, oracle and liquidity risks remain for any on-chain derivatives venue.

Users keep custody until they deposit margin into the contracts. Leverage is the biggest practical risk: liquidation can wipe out a position quickly. The project does not describe regulatory status or past incidents, so check current documentation and local rules on derivatives trading.

6 steps

How to get started with SynFutures V3

  1. 1

Check that trading leveraged derivatives is permitted where you live, and understand the risk of losing your full margin.

  2. 2

Set up a self-custody wallet that supports Base or Blast and fund it with ETH for gas.

  3. 3

Open the official SynFutures trading app and connect your wallet.

  4. 4

Deposit margin in a supported asset and review the available markets.

  5. 5

Read the fees, funding rate and liquidation price for your chosen market before trading.

  6. 6

Start with a small position and low leverage, and set an exit plan.

Who SynFutures V3 is for

SynFutures V3 is for traders already comfortable with self-custody wallets, margin and liquidation mechanics who want on-chain perpetuals on Base or Blast. It is less suitable for beginners or anyone who cannot afford to lose their deposited margin.

SynFutures V3 FAQs

What is SynFutures V3?

SynFutures V3 is the third version of the SynFutures decentralized derivatives protocol. It lets users trade perpetual futures and create futures contracts on arbitrary assets, using what it calls an oAMM that combines an AMM with an on-chain order book.

Which chains does SynFutures V3 run on?

DefiLlama lists SynFutures V3 on Base and Blast. Other SynFutures deployments may exist, but they are not covered from public sources used for this review.

Does SynFutures have a token?

The protocol has its own token, F. DefiLlama lists the ticker, and price trackers show it trading at a fraction of a cent. Public information here do not detail its exact utility, so check the project's documentation.

What are the fees on SynFutures?

The project does not state fees, funding rates or leverage limits. Users should check the trading interface and documentation for current figures before opening a position.

Is SynFutures safe?

Two audits are listed on DefiLlama, but this review does not have the reports. Audits reduce but do not remove smart-contract risk, and leveraged trading can still lead to losses through liquidation.

Can I trade stocks and RWAs on SynFutures?

Per the homepage metadata, SynFutures describes itself as an onchain trading protocol for crypto and real-world assets, including stocks and ETFs. Availability and eligibility rules for those markets are not detailed publicly, so confirm them in the app and check local regulations.
