DappsAtlas FAQ

Quick answers about dApps, how DappsAtlas ranks and scores projects, and how to stay safe.

What is a dApp?

A decentralized application (dApp) is software whose core logic runs as smart contracts on a blockchain rather than on a company's private servers. You usually connect to one with a self-custody wallet such as MetaMask or Phantom, and you approve each transaction yourself.

The website you see is often an ordinary web front end, but the rules that move your funds live on-chain, where anyone can inspect them.

How are DappsAtlas rankings ordered?

Rankings combine three signals. Total value locked (TVL) shows how much capital users trust a protocol with. Our editorial score sums up security, ease of use, fees and features. 7-day TVL change shows momentum. You can sort any table by these columns. Projects without enough public information are listed below reviewed ones.

What do the scores mean?

Scores run from 0 to 10. Roughly: 8 and above means a strong, well-established product with good safety signals. 6 to 8 means solid, but with trade-offs you should understand. Below 6 means significant risks or limitations. A blank score means there was not enough public information to judge.

How do I stay safe using dApps?

  • Check the URL. Phishing sites copy popular dApps. Bookmark official sites.
  • Never share your seed phrase. No legitimate dApp or support agent will ask for it.
  • Read what you sign. Be wary of unlimited token approvals and "setApprovalForAll" requests. Revoke approvals you no longer need.
  • Start small. Test with a small amount before moving larger sums.
  • Understand the risks. Audits reduce smart contract risk but do not remove it. Hacks, depegs and liquidations happen.

Crypto casinos: what should I know?

You must be 18 or older (21 or older in some places), and online gambling is restricted or illegal in many countries, so check your local law first. Look for a clearly stated licence, transparent withdrawal rules and responsible-gambling tools. Set a budget, never chase losses, and get help from BeGambleAware or the National Council on Problem Gambling (1-800-GAMBLER) if gambling stops being fun.

How do I submit or correct a project?

Use the Submit a project page. Send the official website, documentation, chains, contract addresses, audits and social links. For corrections, include the page URL and a public source.

Frequently asked questions

Is DappsAtlas free to use?

Yes. All reviews, rankings and guides are free to read without an account.

Why is a dApp marked inactive?

A project is marked inactive when public information shows it has shut down, been abandoned after an exploit, or its website no longer works. The page stays up for reference.

Where does TVL data come from?

TVL and chain coverage come from DefiLlama, which tracks assets deposited in protocol smart contracts. Figures change constantly, so treat them as approximate.

Do you cover dApps on every blockchain?

We cover more than 250 chains, including Ethereum, BNB Chain, Solana, Base, Arbitrum, Polygon, TON, Tron and many smaller networks and app-chains.
