zkSync Era is a layer-2 network built on top of Ethereum. It uses zero-knowledge rollup technology: transactions are executed and batched off the main chain, then a cryptographic proof is sent to Ethereum to confirm they are valid. This is meant to bring lower costs and faster confirmation while relying on Ethereum for final security. It is designed so that Ethereum-style smart contracts can be deployed, and it supports native account abstraction, which allows wallets with features like sponsored fees.
The network's native token is ZK. Transaction fees on zkSync Era are generally paid in ETH, though account abstraction lets apps cover fees for users or accept other tokens. DeFi TVL on the chain is about $13.3M at the time of writing, which is modest, so liquidity can be thin on some apps.
The ecosystem covers the usual DeFi basics. SyncSwap is a DEX that is native to zkSync Era, and Venus Core Pool offers lending. Harvest Finance handles yield aggregation, Noon offers stablecoin yield, and Veno Finance provides liquid staking. Bridges such as Across and cBridge connect it to other networks. There is also an institutional side in Sygnum FIUSD Liquidity Fund, a tokenized money market fund share. Many of the biggest listings here, such as Binance, OKX and Aave V3, are multi-chain services, so check each page for what is actually available on zkSync Era.

Frequently asked questions
What is zkSync Era?
zkSync Era is a layer-2 network on Ethereum that uses zero-knowledge rollup technology. It processes transactions off the main chain and posts proofs back to Ethereum, aiming for cheaper and faster transfers than Ethereum itself. It launched on mainnet in an alpha stage in March 2023.
What is the ZK token used for?
ZK is the network's native token. Everyday transaction fees on zkSync Era are generally paid in ETH, and account abstraction lets apps sponsor fees or accept other tokens through paymasters. Check each app to see how it handles fees.
How much value is locked on zkSync Era?
The data on this page shows DeFi TVL of about $13.3M at the time of writing, which is small next to the largest Ethereum layer-2s. Liquidity on a chain changes often, so check current figures before relying on any app. Many of the larger names on our list are multi-chain services, so their totals are not held on zkSync Era alone.
Which dApps can I use on zkSync Era?
Examples listed here include SyncSwap (a DEX), Venus Core Pool (lending), Harvest Finance (yield aggregation), Noon (a stablecoin yield protocol), Veno Finance (liquid staking), Deri V4 (options), and the bridges Across and cBridge. Sygnum FIUSD Liquidity Fund is a tokenized money market fund on zkSync Era. Our site lists 115 dApps for this chain.
How do I move funds to zkSync Era?
Bridges such as Across, cBridge, Symbiosis and Wan Bridge connect it to other networks, and LayerZero V2 and CCIP provide cross-chain messaging infrastructure. Check on each app's page that it supports zkSync Era and the specific token you want to move. Send a small test amount first, since bridging carries smart contract and operational risks.
Is zkSync Era safe to use?
Zero-knowledge rollups add cryptographic proofs for security, but every dApp still carries smart contract risk, and bridges are a common point of failure. Low liquidity can also mean wider price slippage on swaps. Use only funds you can afford to lose, and read each protocol's documentation and audits before depositing.
What is the largest dApp on zkSync Era by TVL?
Binance CEX is the largest dApp on zkSync Era by total value locked, with $127B across all the chains it supports. It is followed by OKX ($28.4B) and LayerZero V2 ($17.9B). TVL figures come from DefiLlama and change daily.
Which dApp on zkSync Era has the highest DappsAtlas score?
Aave V3 has the highest score at 8.6/10, ahead of Uniswap V3 (8.4) and OKX (8.0). Scores weigh security, ease of use, fees and features, and are based only on facts we could verify.
How many dApps are on zkSync Era?
DappsAtlas tracks 126 dApps on zkSync Era. Of these, 126 have a full review and 82 report value locked, $208B in total, counting value on every chain they support.
What are the most common types of dApps on zkSync Era?
DEXes (30), Derivatives (11) and Lending (9) are the largest categories on zkSync Era, by number of projects.
Which dApps on zkSync Era grew the most this week?
Among dApps with at least $1M locked, LayerZero V2 had the biggest 7-day TVL gain (+10.6%) and APX Bridge the biggest drop (−93.1%). Combined TVL moved −2.8% over the same seven days.
What is the average score for dApps on zkSync Era?
The 94 rated dApps on zkSync Era average 6.0 out of 10. Of these, 6 score 8 or higher and 20 score below 5.
