Everclear Review 2026: A Clearing Layer for Cross-Chain Liquidity

Everclear is a cross-chain clearing and settlement protocol, formerly known as Connext, that coordinates liquidity between chains for solvers and intent-based bridges. It is infrastructure first, so most users meet it through other apps, and its audits and fees are not clearly published.

Our verdict on Everclear

6.0/10

Everclear suits developers, solver operators and DeFi users who want to understand the infrastructure behind intent-based cross-chain transfers. Its main strength is a focused idea: coordinating settlement between chains to cut rebalancing costs, across 22 networks. The main caveat is transparency. Tracked TVL is zero, no audits are listed, and fees are not published, so cautious users should read the docs, check audit reports and start with small transfers.

What is Everclear?

Everclear is a cross-chain clearing and settlement protocol. Its own description is that it is the crosschain clearing and settlement protocol, and it is widely known as the successor to Connext. It is classed as a cross-chain bridge, but it is better seen as plumbing for bridges than a typical consumer bridge.

A mainnet beta was announced in September 2024, with the project describing itself as the first clearing layer. A mainnet launch was reported in April 2025. The tracked data lists support for 22 networks, including Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, Polygon and BNB Chain.

The protocol has a token, CLEAR, which can be staked, delegated and used for voting. The tracked data shows zero TVL and no listed audits, so figures for usage and security are thin. The homepage could not be loaded for this review, so details come from the docs snippets, third-party descriptions and tracking data.

How Everclear works

Cross-chain apps often rely on solvers, which front funds on a destination chain and are repaid later. Those solvers end up with uneven balances across chains and need to rebalance, which costs time and money.

Everclear acts as a clearing layer for that problem. Instead of each solver or bridge settling separately, it coordinates settlement of liquidity between chains. Users or integrators submit intents, which describe the transfer they want, and the docs say there are several intent types tuned for speed, cost or available liquidity.

The design is non-custodial according to a third-party description, and the CLEAR token is tied to staking, delegation and voting. How validators, solvers and settlement are run in detail is not covered here, so the docs are the place to confirm it.

6 features

Key features

01

Cross-chain clearing layer

Coordinates the settlement of liquidity between chains so that solvers and bridges do not each need to rebalance on their own.

02

Intent-based transfers

The docs describe several intent types, chosen according to whether the user values speed, cost or liquidity availability.

03

Solver rebalancing support

Built to reduce the rebalancing costs that solvers and intent-based bridges face when moving inventory between chains.

04

Non-custodial design

Described as fully non-custodial transfers between EVM-compatible chains and layer-2 networks.

05

Wide EVM coverage

The tracked data lists 22 networks, spanning major layer-1s, rollups and newer chains.

06

CLEAR staking and governance

CLEAR can be staked, delegated and voted with via a main dashboard, according to a video walkthrough.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Targets a real problem: the cost of rebalancing liquidity for solvers and intent-based bridges.
  • Broad coverage of 22 networks, including major rollups and layer-1s.
  • Described as non-custodial for transfers between EVM chains and layer-2s.
  • Documentation covers multiple intent types for different speed and cost needs.
  • Backed by an open protocol lineage that predates the Everclear name.

Watch out for

  • The reported TVL is zero, which makes it hard to judge how much value the protocol handles.
  • No audits are listed in the tracked data, and the project's audit reports were not available to check.
  • Fees, solver pricing and settlement times are not published in the material reviewed.
  • The clearing-layer model is harder for ordinary users to grasp than a standard bridge.
  • Spreading across more than twenty chains widens the surface for bugs and integration failures.
  • The CLEAR token adds governance and price-volatility risk on top of protocol risk.

Everclear fees

Everclear does not publish a fee schedule in the material reviewed. Costs for a transfer would normally depend on the route, the intent type chosen and the pricing of the solvers that fill it, plus gas on each chain.

Users should check the quote shown in the app or integrating product before confirming, and read the docs for how intents are priced. The reported TVL is zero and no protocol revenue figures are cited here.

Is Everclear safe?

No audits are listed in the tracked data, and the project's audit reports were not available for this review. Anyone relying on it should look for published audits and bug-bounty details before using it with meaningful funds.

Cross-chain systems carry smart-contract, solver and message-passing risk, and bridging infrastructure has been a frequent target across the industry. Non-custodial design reduces custody risk but does not eliminate these. The CLEAR token adds market and governance risk. Regulatory status and team details are not published in the material reviewed.

6 steps

How to get started with Everclear

  1. 1

Read the Everclear docs, especially the quickstart, to understand the intent types and how settlement works.

  2. 2

Decide whether you will use Everclear directly or through an app or bridge built on it.

  3. 3

Check that your source and destination chains are supported.

  4. 4

Fund a wallet with the token you want to move plus gas for the source chain.

  5. 5

Submit a small test transfer first and compare the quote against alternatives.

  6. 6

If you hold CLEAR, use the dashboard to stake, delegate or vote, after reading the terms.

Who Everclear is for

Everclear is aimed at solver operators, bridge builders and developers who need cross-chain settlement, and at DeFi users comfortable reading technical docs. Casual users who just want to move tokens once may find a standard bridge or aggregator simpler.

Everclear FAQs

What is Everclear?

Everclear is a clearing and settlement protocol for cross-chain liquidity. It sits beneath intent-based bridges and solvers and coordinates how their funds are balanced across chains. It is also described as the successor to Connext.

Is Everclear a bridge?

Not quite. A typical bridge moves a user's tokens from one chain to another. Everclear focuses on the settlement layer behind that process, helping solvers and bridges rebalance liquidity, though it also supports intents that users can submit.

What is the CLEAR token used for?

CLEAR is Everclear's token. A walkthrough in public reporting shows it can be staked, delegated and used to vote through the project's dashboard. Specific rewards, rates and voting rules are not covered here, so check the dashboard.

Which chains does Everclear support?

The tracked data lists 22 networks, including Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, Polygon, BNB Chain, Avalanche, Linea, zkSync Era, Scroll, Blast and Sonic. Always confirm current support in the project's docs before moving funds.

Is Everclear safe to use?

Everclear describes its transfers as non-custodial, but that does not remove smart-contract or solver risk. The tracked data lists no audits, so users should look for published audit reports and start with small amounts.

When did Everclear launch?

The project's mainnet beta was announced in September 2024, and a full mainnet launch was reported in April 2025. The tracker lists it from December 2025.
