xDai, now generally known as Gnosis Chain, is an EVM-compatible proof-of-stake network that is closely tied to Ethereum. Because it is EVM-compatible, Ethereum wallets and smart contracts work with little change. Validators secure the chain by staking, and the design aims for cheap, predictable transactions rather than maximum throughput. It is an independent chain with its own validator set, not a rollup on Ethereum.
The network uses two tokens. Gas fees are paid in xDAI, a dollar-pegged token, so a transaction fee is a small, stable dollar amount. GNO is the staking and governance token and is the native token in our data. DeFi TVL on the chain was about $86.6 million at the time of writing, which is modest next to the largest networks. This site lists 77 dApps here.
The ecosystem is known for stablecoin and treasury tools more than for trading volume. SparkLend offers stablecoin lending on Gnosis Chain, and sDAI passes a savings rate to holders of a yield-bearing DAI token. KPK runs curated vaults, and Contango V2 automates leveraged strategies. Balancer V2, SushiSwap and Aura cover swaps and liquidity. The xDAI Stake Bridge, along with LayerZero V2 and Hyperlane, helps move assets in and out. Tornado Cash is listed as well. It is a privacy protocol with a history of US sanctions, so read its page carefully.

xDai FAQs
Is xDai the same as Gnosis Chain?
xDai is the name many people still use for Gnosis Chain, which is listed on this site under the slug gnosis. It started as a separate xDai chain and later became part of the Gnosis ecosystem. It runs as an EVM-compatible proof-of-stake network.
What token do I need to use Gnosis Chain?
Gas fees on Gnosis Chain are paid in xDAI, a dollar-pegged token, so transaction costs are easy to estimate in dollar terms. GNO is the network's staking and governance token, which validators use to secure the chain. The data on this page lists GNO as the chain's token.
Is Gnosis Chain compatible with Ethereum wallets and apps?
Yes. It is EVM-compatible, so Ethereum-style wallets and smart contracts generally work after you add the network. Many protocols here, such as Balancer V2, SushiSwap and Aura, are versions of apps that also run on Ethereum.
How do I move assets to Gnosis Chain?
The canonical route is the xDAI Stake Bridge, which links Ethereum and Gnosis Chain. Cross-chain tools such as LayerZero V2, Hyperlane and Symbiosis are also listed, though the chains each one supports vary. Check the current supported networks and fees before you send funds.
Which dApps on Gnosis Chain focus on lending and yield?
The best-known examples are SparkLend, a stablecoin lending market, and sDAI, a yield-bearing Savings DAI token. KPK, which runs curated vaults, and Contango V2, which handles leveraged looping, are also listed. Each dApp page on this site includes its category and a short description.
Do the TVL figures on dApp pages show only Gnosis Chain activity?
No. Gnosis Chain has a small DeFi TVL, about $86.6 million at the time of writing. Many dApps listed here, such as Aave V3 or Uniswap V3, run on many chains, so their headline TVL figures cover all networks combined. Read those numbers as protocol-wide, not as a Gnosis Chain figure.
What is the largest dApp on xDai by TVL?
LayerZero V2 is the largest dApp on xDai by total value locked, with $16.7B across all the chains it supports. It is followed by Aave V3 ($15.1B) and Morpho Blue ($10.9B). TVL figures come from DefiLlama and change daily.
Which dApp on xDai has the highest DappsAtlas score?
Aave V3 has the highest score at 8.6/10, ahead of Uniswap V3 (8.4) and LayerZero V2 (8.0). Scores weigh security, ease of use, fees and features, and are based only on facts we could verify.
How many dApps are on xDai?
DappsAtlas tracks 84 dApps on xDai. Of these, 84 have a full review and 62 report value locked, $52.4B in total, counting value on every chain they support.
What are the most common types of dApps on xDai?
DEXes (15), Cross Chain Bridge (13) and Lending (7) are the largest categories on xDai, by number of projects.
Which dApps on xDai grew the most this week?
Among dApps with at least $1M locked, Contango V2 had the biggest 7-day TVL gain (+138%) and PoolTogether V5 the biggest drop (−21.9%). Combined TVL moved +4.1% over the same seven days.
What is the average score for dApps on xDai?
The 73 rated dApps on xDai average 6.4 out of 10. Of these, 7 score 8 or higher and 8 score below 5.
