What Tellor Tributes (TRB) is

Tellor Tributes, ticker TRB, is the token of Tellor, a decentralized oracle network. An oracle is a service that brings information from outside a blockchain onto it. Smart contracts on Ethereum and similar chains are self-contained, so they cannot look up a price, a sports result or any other off-chain fact on their own. Tellor was built to close that gap.

In the original design, anyone could ask for the value of a data point, such as an ETH/USD price. Staked participants then competed to submit that value to an on-chain data bank that other smart contracts could read. Tellor aimed to become a standard source of high-value data for decentralized applications, and it relies on economic incentives and staking rather than a single trusted operator.

TRB is the asset that ties those incentives together. According to public sources, the project launched in 2019 and first ran on Ethereum. It is classed as both a DeFi token and an oracle token, because lending, derivatives and other on-chain finance products depend on reliable price data. Tellor is one of several oracle projects, and it competes with larger, better-known networks for integrations.

What TRB is used for

TRB has several roles inside the Tellor system, and the details have changed over time. In the legacy Ethereum-based design, Tributes were used to request a particular data series, and they were paid out as incentives to the miners or reporters who supplied it. Reporters also had to stake TRB as a deposit, which gave them something to lose if they submitted bad data. The token was also used to pay dispute fees, so that anyone could challenge a suspicious value.

More recently, Tellor has been moving its activity to a network called Tellor Layer. A May 2026 announcement says rewards have fully transitioned to Tellor Layer. The steps it describes are to unstake from the legacy Tellor contracts, bridge TRB over, and then pick a role: Validator, Reporter or Security Provider. This suggests that staking and securing the network are now the main uses of the token.

Outside the protocol, TRB is also traded on exchanges, including futures and perpetual contracts on some platforms. That is market activity, not a function of the oracle itself. Check the project's current documentation for exact reward rules, because they may differ from older descriptions.

Supply and tokenomics

Tellor Tributes has no fixed maximum supply listed in the data we have, so the cap is shown as unknown. As of 2026-11-05, about 2.83 million TRB were circulating, out of a total supply of about 2.91 million. That is a very small number of tokens compared with most crypto assets, which is why each TRB has a relatively high unit price.

At the time of writing, the price was about $16.36. That gives a market capitalization of roughly $46.4 million and a fully diluted valuation of about $47.6 million. The token ranked around 472 by market cap, with about $5.7 million in 24-hour trading volume. These figures change constantly and should be treated as a snapshot only.

Because the circulating and total supply figures are close, only a small share of tokens is still locked or unreleased. The data does not describe the emission schedule, how the original distribution was split, or whether new tokens are minted as staking rewards on Tellor Layer. If any of that matters to you, read the project's own documentation instead of relying on summaries.

Chains, holding and trading

TRB is issued on several networks rather than being the native coin of any one chain. The data lists Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, Gnosis Chain (shown as xDai), Manta and Lisk. Ethereum is the original home of the token. The others are mainly used for bridged versions, which are representations of the token moved across chains through bridge contracts.

As a standard token, TRB can be held in any wallet that supports the network it lives on. It is traded on centralized exchanges, where you deposit funds and the exchange holds the token for you, and on decentralized exchanges, where you swap directly from your own wallet. Trading volume tends to be concentrated on a few venues, so liquidity can be thinner than for large assets.

When moving TRB between chains, check which network a deposit address expects. Sending a token on the wrong network can lead to a permanent loss. With the shift to Tellor Layer, bridging is also part of using the token inside the protocol. Follow the project's official instructions rather than third-party guides, and send a small test amount first.

History and notable events

Tellor was started around 2019, and the earliest recorded price in our data is a low of about $0.01 on 2019-11-01. In its early years, the network ran as a proof-of-work-style system where miners competed to submit data, and the token could be earned through that process. Later versions moved toward a staking and dispute model, in which reporters put TRB at risk to back the data they provide.

The data records an all-time high of about $593 on 2023-12-31. As of 2026-11-05, the price was far below that, and it had fallen about 25% over the previous year and about 2% over the past week. Prices of small-cap tokens can swing sharply, and the record high reflects a period of unusual demand and thin supply.

The project's most notable recent event is the migration to Tellor Layer. A May 2026 notice says rewards have fully moved there and that holders who want to keep earning must unstake from the legacy system and bridge their TRB. Tellor is also listed in the portfolio of YZi Labs, formerly Binance Labs, according to the CoinGecko category data. We have no further detail on the terms of that listing.

Risks to understand

Market risk comes first. TRB has a small market cap and modest trading volume, so large orders can move its price, and it has lost most of its value from its 2023 peak. Nothing here predicts where the price will go, and this page is not buy or sell advice.

Oracle risk is specific to this type of project. If an oracle reports wrong data, applications that rely on it can suffer losses. Tellor's design tries to discourage this through staking and disputes, but those systems depend on honest participants and sound incentives. Competition from larger oracle networks may also limit how many applications adopt Tellor.

Migration risk is worth noting too. Moving from the legacy contracts to Tellor Layer involves unstaking and bridging, and each step adds technical complexity. Mistakes, delays or bridge failures could cost users funds. People holding TRB in old staking contracts should read the current instructions closely.

Finally, there are the usual crypto risks: smart contract bugs, bridge exploits, exchange failures, phishing sites and fake tokens that copy the TRB name. Check the contract address on the correct chain before interacting with any token.

How to store TRB safely

If you only want to hold TRB, the safest general approach is self-custody in a wallet you control, rather than leaving tokens on an exchange. A hardware wallet paired with a standard Ethereum-compatible interface is a common choice for long-term holdings. Write down your recovery phrase on paper, store it offline in more than one secure place, and never type it into a website or share it with anyone, including people claiming to be support staff.

Before sending TRB, confirm which network you are using, since the token exists on Ethereum and several other chains. Copy the contract address from the project's official documentation and compare it with the one your wallet shows. Do a small test transfer before moving a larger amount.

If you stake TRB or bridge it to Tellor Layer, consider using a separate wallet for that activity so that your main holdings are not exposed to every contract you approve. Review and revoke old token approvals from time to time. Be cautious with unsolicited messages offering reward claims or migration help, because scammers often exploit announcements like the Tellor Layer transition.
