Analytics dApps and sites help you read what is happening on blockchains and in crypto markets. They cover things like protocol TVL, trading volume, fees, NFT sales, wallet activity, portfolio performance and chart signals. They do not usually hold your money. They are research tools, and you use them to check a claim, follow a wallet or compare protocols before you act.
Most of these tools pull data from public blockchains, exchanges and other feeds, then clean it up and present it as dashboards, labels, alerts or an API. Revenue varies. Many offer a free tier and charge for premium data, higher API limits or extra features, while others earn through advertising, listings or a connected product, such as the exchange that Arkham runs alongside its intelligence platform. Because of that, it is worth asking how a tool is funded and whether it promotes particular tokens.
When choosing one, compare what data it covers, which chains it supports, how often it updates, and whether it is read-only. DefiLlama is a leading option for protocol-level DeFi data, Sharpe focuses on derivatives data and trading intelligence, CryptoSlam covers NFTs, and Arkham is known for wallet labeling and tracing. Also check whether the product is still running, since services can wind down, as Zapper's announced shutdown shows. Some listings here, such as London South East, are general finance sites and not crypto tools, so match the tool to your actual question.

Frequently asked questions
What is a crypto analytics dApp?
A crypto analytics dApp collects blockchain data and presents it in a readable form, such as dashboards, wallet labels, portfolio views or charts. Most are read-only, meaning they look at public data and do not move your funds. Some, like Arkham, also offer extra products such as an exchange.
Do analytics tools need access to my wallet?
Not always. DefiLlama, Octav and Nansen Portfolio mainly read public wallet or protocol data. Some tools ask you to connect a wallet or paste an address, and a few offer trading features, so check what permissions a site requests before you approve anything. A read-only connection should never need to spend your tokens.
Which tool is best for tracking DeFi protocols and TVL?
DefiLlama is a common starting point because it aggregates TVL, volume and fees for DeFi protocols across many chains. For NFTs, CryptoSlam covers sales rankings and charts. For XRP Ledger lookups, Bithomp is built for that chain.
What can I use to track my own wallets and positions?
Portfolio trackers such as Octav and Nansen Portfolio combine multiple wallet addresses into one dashboard and show positions and profit and loss. Zapper was another tracker, but its CEO announced a wind-down with a shutdown scheduled for August 3, so check its current status before relying on it.
Are these analytics tools free?
Most are free to use at a basic level, and some such as Sharpe and Octav describe themselves as free. Others may have paid tiers, API plans or related products, so read each site's pricing page. Terms can change, so confirm the current details yourself.
Can analytics tools guarantee good trades?
No. Analytics tools show data and sometimes opinions, such as buy, hold or sell verdicts from Flicker, but they cannot predict prices. Data can be delayed, wrongly labeled or incomplete, so treat it as one input and not financial advice. If you use any of this for trading or gambling, you must be 18+ (21+ where required) and should check that it is legal where you live.
