Sonic is a Layer-1 blockchain developed by Sonic Labs and built on the foundations of Fantom. It is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine, so wallets and smart contracts written for Ethereum usually work with few changes. The design targets high throughput and quick finality for DeFi, using its own consensus mechanism rather than Ethereum's. The Sonic Gateway bridge links the chain to Ethereum for moving assets like USDC, EURC, WETH and FTM.
The native token is S, which is used to pay transaction fees. Fees are meant to stay low, though the exact cost depends on network conditions. The DeFi TVL on Sonic was about $14.6 million at the time of writing, so it is a small ecosystem next to the biggest chains.
Our hub lists 133 dApps. Many are multichain names rather than Sonic-only projects, including lending protocols such as Aave V3, Morpho Blue and Euler V2, the Uniswap V3 exchange, and cross-chain infrastructure like LayerZero V2 and Stargate V2. Lombard Vaults, a Bitcoin yield product, also lists Sonic among its chains. Centralized exchanges such as Binance, Bitget and Gate show up as well. Check which networks each dApp actually supports before you connect a wallet.

Sonic FAQs
What is Sonic?
Sonic is an EVM-compatible Layer-1 blockchain built by Sonic Labs, aimed at fast, low-cost DeFi and other apps. It is the successor to the Fantom network, and its mainnet launched in December 2024.
Is Sonic the same as Fantom?
Sonic is the evolution of Fantom, and the project carries on Fantom's technology and community. The Sonic Gateway bridge supports moving FTM between Ethereum and Sonic, and Sonic's own token is S.
Is Sonic EVM compatible?
Yes. Sonic is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine, so Ethereum-style wallets and smart contracts generally work on it. Developers can often reuse existing Solidity code with little change.
What is the S token used for?
S is the native token of Sonic and is used to pay network fees. Check the current token details and any staking terms on official Sonic sources before relying on them.
How do I move assets to Sonic?
The Sonic Gateway is the chain's native bridge to Ethereum, and it handles assets such as USDC, EURC, WETH and FTM. Cross-chain protocols like LayerZero V2 and Stargate V2 also appear in our listings. Bridges carry smart-contract risk, so start with small amounts.
How big is the Sonic ecosystem?
The DeFi TVL on Sonic was about $14.6 million at the time of writing, which is modest next to the largest chains. Many of the 133 dApps we list are multichain, so their headline TVL covers all the networks they run on, not Sonic alone.
What is the largest dApp on Sonic by TVL?
Binance CEX is the largest dApp on Sonic by total value locked, with $127B across all the chains it supports. It is followed by LayerZero V2 ($16.7B) and Aave V3 ($15.1B). TVL figures come from DefiLlama and change daily.
Which dApp on Sonic has the highest DappsAtlas score?
Aave V3 has the highest score at 8.6/10, ahead of Uniswap V3 (8.4) and LayerZero V2 (8.0). Scores weigh security, ease of use, fees and features, and are based only on facts we could verify.
How many dApps are on Sonic?
DappsAtlas tracks 142 dApps on Sonic. Of these, 142 have a full review and 113 report value locked, $189B in total, counting value on every chain they support.
What are the most common types of dApps on Sonic?
DEXes (31), Lending (15) and Yield Aggregator (15) are the largest categories on Sonic, by number of projects.
Which dApps on Sonic grew the most this week?
Among dApps with at least $1M locked, Shadow Exchange CLMM had the biggest 7-day TVL gain (+45.2%) and Flipster the biggest drop (−26.7%). Combined TVL moved −3.5% over the same seven days.
What is the average score for dApps on Sonic?
The 117 rated dApps on Sonic average 6.2 out of 10. Of these, 6 score 8 or higher and 14 score below 5.
