Mode is an Ethereum Layer-2 network built on the OP Stack, the same codebase behind Optimism, and it is part of the Optimism Superchain. It is an optimistic rollup: transactions are processed on Mode and the results are posted back to Ethereum, which provides the security backstop. Mode is EVM-compatible, so MetaMask-style wallets and standard Solidity contracts work with it. Its mainnet chain ID is 34443.
Gas on Mode is paid in ETH, and fees are generally lower than on Ethereum mainnet because activity is batched. The native MODE token is the network's ecosystem and governance token, not the gas currency. Funds usually arrive through a bridge, and withdrawals through the official bridge follow a challenge period, so they take longer than a deposit.
Mode has positioned itself around DeFi and, more recently, AI agents. At the time of writing, DeFi TVL on the chain is about $589,916, so the ecosystem is small. Among the protocols we review, Renzo (liquid restaking), Velodrome V2 (a Solidly-style DEX), DeSyn Basis Trading (pool-based yield) and Peapods Finance (yield) list Mode as a supported network. Our site covers 55 dApps for this chain, and the list below shows each one with its category and review score.

Mode FAQs
What is Mode Network?
Mode is a Layer-2 blockchain built on the OP Stack and part of the Optimism Superchain. It runs on top of Ethereum and aims to offer cheaper, faster transactions while relying on Ethereum for security. Its stated focus is DeFi and, more recently, AI agents.
Is Mode compatible with Ethereum wallets like MetaMask?
Yes. Mode is EVM-compatible, so Ethereum wallets and Solidity-based contracts work on it. You can add it to a wallet manually using chain ID 34443, and the Mode documentation lists the current RPC details.
What do I pay gas fees with on Mode?
Gas on Mode is paid in ETH, not in the MODE token. You need a small amount of ETH on Mode itself before you can make transactions. You can bridge it from Ethereum or another supported network.
What is the MODE token used for?
MODE is the network's native ecosystem and governance token. It is not the gas currency. Check the project's own documentation for its current utility and any staking or governance details before relying on it.
Which dApps are available on Mode?
Among the protocols we track, Renzo, Velodrome V2, DeSyn Basis Trading and Peapods Finance list Mode as a supported chain. They cover liquid restaking, a DEX, basis-trading pools and yield strategies. Our hub page shows the full set of Mode dApps we have reviewed.
How much value is locked in Mode DeFi?
At the time of writing, DeFi TVL on Mode is about $589,916, which is small next to large networks. Small TVL can mean thinner liquidity and less activity, so check pool depth and slippage before trading. The figure changes daily.
How do I get funds onto Mode?
You can use a bridge to move assets from Ethereum or another EVM network. The official Mode bridge is one option and third-party bridges are another. Withdrawals back to Ethereum through the canonical bridge follow the OP Stack challenge period, so they are not instant. Always test with a small amount first.
What is the largest dApp on Mode by TVL?
LayerZero V2 is the largest dApp on Mode by total value locked, with $16.7B across all the chains it supports. It is followed by Morpho Blue ($10.9B) and Gate ($5.84B). TVL figures come from DefiLlama and change daily.
Which dApp on Mode has the highest DappsAtlas score?
LayerZero V2 has the highest score at 8.0/10, ahead of Morpho Blue (8.0) and Sablier Lockup (8.0). Scores weigh security, ease of use, fees and features, and are based only on facts we could verify.
How many dApps are on Mode?
DappsAtlas tracks 56 dApps on Mode. Of these, 56 have a full review and 50 report value locked, $34.1B in total, counting value on every chain they support.
What are the most common types of dApps on Mode?
DEXes (15), Derivatives (7) and Lending (6) are the largest categories on Mode, by number of projects.
Which dApps on Mode grew the most this week?
Among dApps with at least $1M locked, LayerZero V2 had the biggest 7-day TVL gain (+8.9%) and DyorSwap AMM the biggest drop (−25.4%). Combined TVL moved +4.5% over the same seven days.
What is the average score for dApps on Mode?
