Impermax V2 Review 2026: Leveraged LP Farming and Lending

Impermax V2 is a permissionless lending protocol where liquidity providers borrow against their LP tokens to run leveraged yield farms. It is a niche, higher-risk tool with a small current TVL.

Our verdict on Impermax V2

6.2/10

Impermax V2 suits experienced DeFi users who provide liquidity and understand impermanent loss and liquidation. Its main strength is a permissionless way to borrow against LP tokens across many chains, backed by two audits and a bug bounty. The main caveat is risk: TVL is now small, a related V3 exploit has occurred, and leverage magnifies losses. Newcomers and anyone seeking steady, low-risk yield should look elsewhere or lend only small amounts.

What is Impermax V2?

Impermax V2 is a DeFi lending protocol aimed at liquidity providers and market makers. It lets them borrow against LP tokens to farm with leverage, while other users lend single tokens to earn interest. The homepage calls it a permissionless lending protocol for market makers.

The project says that its codebase reached $250M in TVL across all entities using it. Current TVL for V2 is about $538k, with a 7-day change of 0.9%, so activity is far smaller now. DeFi data lists deployments on fifteen networks, including Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, Polygon and Optimism.

The team lists audits by BailSec and Guardian Audit and a $100,000 bug bounty hosted by Hacken Proof. A post-mortem for a separate Impermax V3 exploit, involving a flash loan and around $300k, shows the risk that comes with this type of design. The IBEX token is tied to the ecosystem.

How Impermax V2 works

Impermax runs lending pools linked to liquidity pool pairs on decentralized exchanges. Lenders deposit single tokens such as ETH or a stablecoin and earn interest. Borrowers deposit LP tokens as collateral and borrow the underlying tokens to add more liquidity, which raises their share of trading fees and rewards.

Because the collateral is an LP token, its value moves with both assets in the pair. If it falls too far relative to the debt, the position can be liquidated. Leverage also magnifies impermanent loss, the cost LPs bear when the price ratio of the pair changes.

Markets are permissionless, meaning pools can be set up for new pairs without a central listing process. The homepage also describes the IBEX token, which can be staked to share in rewards from protocol growth.

7 features

Key features

01

Borrow against LP tokens

Liquidity providers can borrow against their LP positions instead of only holding them, which increases exposure to trading fees and farming rewards.

02

Single-token lending

Users can supply single tokens to lending pools and earn interest paid by leveraged farmers.

03

Permissionless markets

Pools can be created for LP pairs without a central team approving each market, which the project describes as the first permissionless protocol to leverage LPs.

04

Risk and reward tuning

The homepage describes tools to tune the balance between risk and reward when taking leverage.

05

IBEX staking

IBEX holders can stake and earn rewards tied to protocol growth, per the homepage.

06

Multi-chain deployment

DeFi data shows deployments across fifteen networks, mainly EVM chains, including several Ethereum layer 2s.

07

Audits and bug bounty

The project cites code verification by BailSec and Guardian Audit and a $100,000 bug bounty hosted by Hacken Proof.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Lets LPs borrow against LP tokens, a niche few protocols offer.
  • Permissionless market design with lending for single tokens.
  • Wide multi-chain footprint across fifteen networks.
  • Two audits listed and a $100,000 bug bounty program.
  • Track record since 2021 with a reported peak of $250M TVL across its codebase.

Watch out for

  • TVL is only about $538k according to DeFi data, far below the $250M peak the project cites across all entities using its codebase.
  • A separate Impermax V3 exploit was reported in a post-mortem, with a flash-loan edge case draining roughly $300k, which shows the code family has had real incidents.
  • Leveraged LP farming carries impermanent loss and liquidation risk that can exceed the yield earned.
  • Fee levels, interest rate model details and liquidation penalties are not stated on the homepage.
  • The V3 code sits under a Business Source License, so it is not freely open source.
  • Many deployments across older or smaller chains (Canto, Moonriver, Fantom) may have thin liquidity and less attention.

Impermax V2 fees

Fees are not published on the homepage. Lenders earn variable interest set by pool utilization, and borrowers pay that interest, but exact rates, reserve factors and liquidation penalties are not stated. Users can see the current rates in each lending pool inside the app.

Standard network gas fees apply on each chain, and they vary widely between Ethereum mainnet and cheaper layer 2s.

Is Impermax V2 safe?

Impermax lists audits by BailSec and Guardian Audit and a $100,000 bug bounty hosted by Hacken Proof. Two audits are recorded in DeFi data. The protocol is non-custodial, so users keep control of their wallets but bear smart-contract risk directly.

A post-mortem reports an exploit of Impermax V3 where an edge case and a flash loan let an attacker take around $300k. That involved V3 rather than V2, but it shares the same project lineage. The project does not publish team identities or a regulatory status on its homepage. Leveraged positions can be liquidated, and only funds you can afford to lose should be used.

6 steps

How to get started with Impermax V2

  1. 1

Check that DeFi leverage products are legal and suitable where you live, and read the docs on liquidation and impermanent loss.

  2. 2

Set up a self-custody wallet and fund it with gas tokens on a supported network such as Arbitrum, Base or Polygon.

  3. 3

Open the app from the official site and choose a chain and lending pool.

  4. 4

To lend, deposit a single token and review the displayed supply rate.

  5. 5

To farm with leverage, provide liquidity to a supported pair, deposit the LP token as collateral and borrow carefully, watching your liquidation level.

  6. 6

Monitor positions regularly and start with small amounts.

Who Impermax V2 is for

Impermax V2 is for experienced liquidity providers and yield farmers who want leverage on LP positions, and for lenders comfortable with smart-contract risk who want interest on single tokens. It is not suited to beginners or anyone who cannot monitor positions for liquidation.

Impermax V2 FAQs

What is Impermax V2?

Impermax lets liquidity providers use their LP tokens as collateral to borrow assets and farm with leverage. Lenders supply single tokens to those pools and earn interest from the borrowers.

Is Impermax safe to use?

Yes, in the sense that leveraged LP positions can be liquidated if their value falls against the debt, and impermanent loss is amplified by leverage. The project lists audits and a bug bounty, but a related Impermax V3 exploit was reported, so smart-contract risk is real.

What is the IBEX token?

The protocol lists IBEX as its token. The homepage says holders can earn rewards from protocol growth and links to an IBEX staking page. Specific reward mechanics are not detailed on the homepage.

Which networks does Impermax V2 support?

DeFi data lists deployments on Polygon, Ethereum, Base, Avalanche, Arbitrum, Optimism, Sonic, zkSync Era, Fantom, Scroll, Linea, Mantle, Moonriver, Canto and Blast. Availability of each pool varies by chain.

Has Impermax been audited?

The homepage says code was verified by BailSec and Guardian Audit and mentions a $100,000 bug bounty hosted by Hacken Proof. Two audits are listed in DeFi data. Audits reduce risk but do not remove it.

Can I just lend on Impermax without leverage?

Lenders deposit tokens and earn interest with lower risk than leveraged farmers, though they still face smart-contract and bad-debt risk. The homepage presents lending as a low-risk yield option.
