Canto is a general-purpose layer-one blockchain that is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine, so it runs Solidity contracts and works with common Ethereum wallets. It is a proof-of-stake chain built with the Cosmos SDK, and validators secure it. It was set up as a DeFi-first network, with core financial tools meant to be shared infrastructure instead of products owned by one company.
CANTO is the native token. It pays transaction fees and is staked to secure the network. Its market value is very small at the time of writing, and our data shows DeFi TVL of $0 on the chain, so readers should treat activity as limited and check that a dApp is still live before using it.
The native apps reflect the original design. Canto Dex is a zero-fee exchange, Canto Lending is a Compound v2 fork with the NOTE stablecoin, and Forteswap is another AMM. Much of the rest of the list is multi-chain: Ambient and Velocimeter V2 are DEXes, Tempest Finance and ACryptoS manage liquidity, Impermax V2 and Tarot offer leveraged LP lending, and HiYield and Fortunafi cover tokenized real-world assets. LayerZero V2 is cross-chain messaging infrastructure, and its large TVL figure covers many chains, not just Canto.

Canto FAQs
What is Canto?
Canto is a layer-one blockchain that is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine and focuses on DeFi. It was designed around public goods such as a zero-fee DEX and a lending market, so that other apps could build on them.
Is Canto EVM compatible?
Yes. Canto runs the Ethereum Virtual Machine, so Solidity smart contracts and Ethereum-style wallets generally work with it. That is why several apps here, such as Ambient, Velocimeter V2 and Tempest Finance, also run on other EVM chains.
What is the CANTO token used for?
CANTO is the native token. It pays network fees, is used for staking to help secure the chain, and has been used for governance and liquidity incentives. At the time of writing it trades at a very low price with a small market cap, so check current figures before acting on them.
Is Canto still active?
Our data shows DeFi TVL of $0 for Canto at the time of writing, which points to very little on-chain activity. Some of the 13 listed apps, such as Canto Lending, Canto Dex and Forteswap, are native to Canto and show $0 TVL. Check whether a dApp is still active before you deposit anything.
Are all the dApps listed here built only on Canto?
Not all of them. LayerZero V2 shows a very large TVL figure, but that covers many chains and is not a measure of Canto itself. Apps such as ACryptoS, Impermax V2 and Tarot are listed mainly because of their multi-chain reach. The Canto-native apps are Canto Lending, Canto Dex and Forteswap.
Is Canto the same as Canton Network?
No. Canto is a DeFi-focused EVM chain with the CANTO token. Canton Network is a separate project aimed at traditional finance. Check the name and the token before you connect a wallet or buy anything.
What is the largest dApp on Canto by TVL?
LayerZero V2 is the largest dApp on Canto by total value locked, with $16.7B across all the chains it supports. It is followed by ACryptoS ($10.5M) and Ambient ($1.78M). TVL figures come from DefiLlama and change daily.
Which dApp on Canto has the highest DappsAtlas score?
LayerZero V2 has the highest score at 8.0/10, ahead of Impermax V2 (6.2) and Ambient (5.8). Scores weigh security, ease of use, fees and features, and are based only on facts we could verify.
How many dApps are on Canto?
DappsAtlas tracks 13 dApps on Canto. Of these, 13 have a full review and 10 report value locked, $16.8B in total, counting value on every chain they support.
What are the most common types of dApps on Canto?
DEXes (5), Lending (3) and Real-World Assets (2) are the largest categories on Canto, by number of projects.
Which dApps on Canto grew the most this week?
Among dApps with at least $1M locked, LayerZero V2 had the biggest 7-day TVL gain (+8.9%) and Ambient the biggest drop (−9.7%). Combined TVL moved +8.9% over the same seven days.
What is the average score for dApps on Canto?
The 11 rated dApps on Canto average 5.4 out of 10. Of these, 1 score 8 or higher and 3 score below 5.
