Sequence Review 2026: Wallets, Payments and Data for EVM Apps

Sequence is a developer infrastructure stack for smart wallets, one-click cross-chain payments and real-time multi-chain data on EVM networks. It is a serious builder tool, but pricing and audit details are not published and Polygon Labs is acquiring the company.

DappsAtlas score

7.6/10

Good

Our verdict on Sequence

7.6/10

Sequence suits developers and ecosystem teams who want smart wallets, cross-chain payments and indexed data from one provider across EVM chains. Its main strength is the breadth of the stack and the intent-based payment flow that spares users manual bridging. The main caveats are unpublished pricing, no visible audit information on the homepage, and uncertainty around the pending Polygon Labs acquisition. Check those points before committing production traffic.

What is Sequence?

Sequence is a modular crypto infrastructure stack for builders. Its homepage groups the product into three parts: smart wallets, 1-click cross-chain payments and a real-time multi-chain indexer. It also sells packaged solutions for chains, DeFi, stablecoins and gaming.

The company was previously called Horizon Blockchain Games. One report names Peter Kieltyka as CEO and says it has raised $53M from investors. Its platform originally powered Horizon's own games and marketplace before being offered more widely.

The homepage now states that Polygon Labs is acquiring Sequence to power its Open Money Stack. The terms and timeline are not given there. The site also carries a testimonial from the founder of Somnia, which uses Sequence's Somnia Builder.

How Sequence works

Sequence is a set of services that developers plug into an app. The wallet layer gives each user a smart-contract account that can work across apps in an ecosystem, with account recovery and sandboxed sessions to limit what a connected app can do.

The payments layer, built around Trails, uses what one report calls intent-based interoperability. Instead of manually bridging and swapping, the user states a goal such as buying an NFT. The system looks for a route, can combine balances held on different chains, and completes the steps. Standard wallets often fail with insufficient-funds errors when a balance sits on the wrong chain. Trails is designed to find a workable route if one exists.

The indexer reads blockchain activity and serves it through APIs and webhooks, so developers do not have to run their own data pipelines. Together the three pieces aim to let a team ship a multi-chain app without building this infrastructure itself.

6 features

Key features

01

Smart wallets

Ecosystem and developer wallets give users a single account across apps. The homepage cites simpler recovery and sandboxed sessions that limit exposure to malicious apps.

02

1-click payments

Apps can accept crypto in any token, from any wallet, on any chain. Users can swap, fund, earn or pay in one step.

03

Cross-chain orchestration

Trails uses an intent-based model to combine balances across chains and handle bridging and swaps. It launched across 16 EVM chains, according to one report.

04

Real-time indexer

The indexer delivers multi-chain balances, token prices, contract events and webhooks in near real time across EVM chains.

05

Vertical solutions

Sequence offers vertical packages for chains, DeFi, stablecoins and gaming, such as branded hubs, swaps and vaults, stablecoin settlement and gasless purchases.

06

Developer tooling

Docs, SDKs, APIs, blueprints, guides and a dashboard support integration. It also publishes a Web SDK for connecting wallets and a checkout flow for card or crypto purchases.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Covers wallets, payments and data in one stack, which reduces the number of vendors a team needs.
  • Trails lets users pay from balances spread across chains without manual bridging, according to one report.
  • Wallet design includes account recovery and sandboxed sessions to limit malicious apps.
  • Documentation, SDKs, APIs, guides and a dashboard are available for developers.
  • Wallet transactions can be imported by third-party tax tools across major EVM chains.
  • Verticals for gaming, DeFi, stablecoins and chains show a range of use cases.

Watch out for

  • Pricing and plan limits are not published on the homepage, so costs are hard to estimate before signing up.
  • Polygon Labs is acquiring Sequence, so the product roadmap, branding and terms could change.
  • Support is focused on EVM chains, and non-EVM support such as Solana is described only as a plan.
  • Audit reports and security details are not highlighted on the homepage.
  • It is a developer toolkit, so it offers little to ordinary users who are not building or integrating apps.
  • Relying on one vendor for wallets, payments and data creates dependency and integration lock-in.

Sequence fees

Sequence does not publish pricing or fee schedules on its homepage. Developers would see plan details and usage limits in the dashboard or by contacting the team.

End users of apps built on Sequence still pay normal network gas, unless an app sponsors it. The homepage mentions gasless buys for gaming. Swap and bridge costs inside payment flows are not detailed in the information reviewed.

Is Sequence safe?

Sequence is a non-custodial-style developer toolkit, but the homepage does not publish audit reports, a bug bounty or a custody breakdown. Developers should ask the team for audit details and review the smart-wallet contracts before integrating them. Cross-chain routing adds bridge and swap risk that sits on top of the wallet itself.

The pending acquisition by Polygon Labs may change ownership, terms and support. No hack or shutdown appears in the information reviewed. Sequence does not publish a regulatory licence, and its terms and privacy pages are linked from the footer for review.

Who Sequence is for

Sequence is for app developers, game studios, chain ecosystems and DeFi or stablecoin teams building on EVM networks. It fits teams that want embedded wallets, one-click payments and real-time data without building each layer themselves. It is less relevant to individual traders who are not integrating or building anything.
