Hyperliquid L1 is a layer-1 blockchain designed around onchain trading. It is secured by a validator set running HyperBFT, a proprietary proof-of-stake consensus based on the HotStuff family, which is aimed at fast finality. The design separates two parts: HyperCore, the native engine behind the perpetuals and spot order books, and HyperEVM, a general-purpose EVM environment inside the same chain state where Solidity contracts can run.

The native token is HYPE, which is used for staking and appears across the chain's DeFi. Fees work differently depending on the layer. Trading on the native order books carries exchange-style fees, while contracts on HyperEVM pay gas in HYPE. Exact rates can change, so check the current documentation. At the time of writing, DeFi TVL on the chain is about $2.4 billion, and this site lists 149 dApps.

The ecosystem leans toward trading infrastructure, yield and liquidity. The Hyperliquid Bridge brings USDC in from Arbitrum, while the Hyperliquid Spot Orderbook and the community-owned HLP vault serve the native markets. HyperLend Pooled handles lending, and Kinetiq kHYPE and stHYPE offer liquid staking for HYPE. A large share of the listings are vault and curator platforms such as Veda, Gauntlet, Upshift, Hyperithm and K3 Capital. Cross-chain tools such as LayerZero V2, CCIP and USDT0 also support the chain. Derivatives products carry high risk, and anyone using them should be of legal age in their country (18+, or 21+ where required) and check that the activity is allowed where they live.

Frequently asked questions

What is Hyperliquid L1?

Hyperliquid L1 is a layer-1 blockchain built mainly for onchain trading and financial applications. It runs its own validator-secured network and hosts a perpetuals and spot order book alongside a smart contract environment called HyperEVM.

Is Hyperliquid EVM-compatible?

Partly. HyperEVM is a general-purpose EVM environment that sits inside the Hyperliquid L1 state, so Ethereum-style contracts can run there. The chain's core trading engine, HyperCore, is separate and is not an EVM application.

What is the HYPE token used for?

HYPE is the native token of Hyperliquid. It is used for staking to help secure the network, and it appears in DeFi through liquid staking tokens such as Kinetiq's kHYPE and stHYPE. Check the current documentation for any other uses before relying on them.

How do I get funds onto Hyperliquid?

The usual route is the Hyperliquid Bridge, which moves USDC from Arbitrum onto the Hyperliquid L1 for trading. Other cross-chain tools listed here, such as CCIP, also support Hyperliquid. Always verify the official interface and test with a small amount first.

What kinds of dApps can I find on Hyperliquid?

Lending is covered by HyperLend Pooled, and liquid staking by Kinetiq kHYPE and stHYPE. For trading there is the Hyperliquid Spot Orderbook and the HLP vault, and several vault and risk-curator platforms such as Veda, Gauntlet and Upshift also have a presence on the chain.

Are Hyperliquid dApps safe to use?

No chain is risk-free. Smart contract bugs, bridge failures, leverage losses and vault strategy risk all apply, and many Hyperliquid dApps involve leveraged or derivative products. Only use funds you can afford to lose, and read each protocol's documentation and audits. Some of these products may be restricted or unavailable in certain countries, so check the rules where you live.

What is the largest dApp on Hyperliquid L1 by TVL?

LayerZero V2 is the largest dApp on Hyperliquid L1 by total value locked, with $17.9B across all the chains it supports. It is followed by Morpho Blue ($10.9B) and Hyperliquid Bridge ($6.42B). TVL figures come from DefiLlama and change daily.

Which dApp on Hyperliquid L1 has the highest DappsAtlas score?

Uniswap V4 has the highest score at 8.5/10, ahead of LayerZero V2 (8.0) and Morpho Blue (8.0). Scores weigh security, ease of use, fees and features, and are based only on facts we could verify.

How many dApps are on Hyperliquid L1?

DappsAtlas tracks 164 dApps on Hyperliquid L1. Of these, 164 have a full review and 134 report value locked, $62.5B in total, counting value on every chain they support.

What are the most common types of dApps on Hyperliquid L1?

DEXes (30), Yield Aggregator (17) and Lending (14) are the largest categories on Hyperliquid L1, by number of projects.

Which dApps on Hyperliquid L1 grew the most this week?

Among dApps with at least $1M locked, Reservoir Protocol had the biggest 7-day TVL gain (+20.3%) and Harmonix Finance the biggest drop (−21.9%). Combined TVL moved +2.4% over the same seven days.

What is the average score for dApps on Hyperliquid L1?

The 143 rated dApps on Hyperliquid L1 average 6.3 out of 10. Of these, 6 score 8 or higher and 11 score below 5.
