Phantom Finance Review 2026: The Wallet Behind the Official Site

The official Phantom Finance site belongs to a self-custodial wallet for trading tokens, prediction markets and perpetual futures, with a Visa prepaid card. DefiLlama lists a different Fantom yield farm under the same name, and the project does not link the two.

Our verdict on Phantom Finance

7.0/10

Phantom suits people who want a self-custodial wallet with token trading, a card and optional prediction markets in one app. Its main strength is the combination of user-held keys and built-in scam detection across several networks. The main caveat is that public sources publish no fee schedule, and the perpetuals and prediction markets carry substantial loss risk. The DefiLlama listing under the same name is a separate Fantom farm, so check which product you are looking at before you act.

What is Phantom Finance?

Phantom is a self-custodial crypto wallet and trading app. The official site describes it as a home for trading tokens, prediction markets and perpetual futures across Solana, Ethereum, Bitcoin, Robinhood Chain and HyperEVM, and says it has more than 20 million users.

The name Phantom Finance also appears in DefiLlama's registry as a yield farm on Fantom using the PHANTOM token, listed since February 2022. That entry reports no TVL and no listed audits. The project does not connect it to the Phantom Technologies wallet, so readers should not assume they are the same product.

Public reporting also include unrelated pages that use similar names, including one describing an AI trading platform with broker and return claims that could not be verified. This review covers the wallet at the official site. The official site is live and carries 2026 copyright, so the entry is treated as active.

How Phantom Finance works

Phantom is a self-custodial wallet. The app generates a set of keys on your device, and those keys control your addresses on the supported networks. Every transfer, swap or trade is signed with your keys and then processed on the relevant blockchain, so the company does not hold the funds in its own accounts.

The homepage lists several activities inside one app: buying and selling tokens, trading predictions, opening perpetual futures, moving money and spending through a card. Each uses different mechanics. A token swap exchanges one asset for another at the market price, with slippage as the gap between the expected and executed price. A perpetual future lets a user take a leveraged long or short position without an expiry date, and can be liquidated if the position moves against them. A prediction market pays out based on whether an event resolves a certain way.

For a newcomer, the main point is that the wallet is a gateway. It shows you prices and routes orders, but the risk and the final settlement sit with the chain or the market you choose.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Self-custody means the company says it never has access to user funds.
  • Coverage spans several networks, including Solana, Ethereum, Bitcoin, Robinhood Chain and HyperEVM.
  • Scam detection flags malicious transactions before they go through.
  • Support is described as available 24/7.
  • A Ledger hardware wallet can be connected for extra key security.

Watch out for

  • Leveraged perpetuals and prediction markets can lose money quickly, and public sources give no loss or risk figures.
  • Self-custody means a lost recovery phrase can mean permanent loss of funds, with no company recovery route described.
  • Fees for swaps, perps, predictions and transfers are not published publicly.
  • The DefiLlama listing under this name is a separate Fantom farm with no reported TVL, which can confuse readers searching for the wallet.
  • Public reporting includes unrelated pages using similar names, some with claims that could not be verified here.
  • No independent audit report for the wallet is named publicly.

Phantom Finance fees

The project does not publish fees for trading, perpetuals, prediction markets, transfers or network costs. The homepage says fees may apply to the Visa card and refers readers to the Cardholder Agreement for details.

Readers should look for fee and spread information inside the app before confirming a trade, since the official site does not state these amounts.

Is Phantom Finance safe?

Custody: the wallet is self-custodial, so the user holds the keys and the recovery phrase. The company says it never has access to funds, which removes counterparty risk over balances but places the burden of security on the user. Phishing sites and fake apps are a common risk for wallets, so download only from the official domain.

Smart contract and counterparty risk: trades, perps and prediction markets depend on external protocols and market operators. The project does not name the operators, audit reports or incident history for these components.

Regulatory status: the Visa card is issued by Lead Bank under Visa licensing, and the site says Phantom is a financial technology company and not a bank. Prediction markets have their own disclosures on the company site. You must be 18 or older for the card. Online trading and prediction markets are restricted or regulated in some places, so check that they are legal where you live. Use the wallet only with money you can afford to lose, and see a local support resource if trading becomes a problem.

6 steps

How to get started with Phantom Finance

  1. 1

Download the app from the official site and confirm you are on the official domain before installing.

  2. 2

Create a wallet and write down the recovery phrase offline, since it cannot be recovered by the company.

  3. 3

Transfer crypto to your wallet address, choosing the correct network for the token.

  4. 4

Pick a token, market or perp and review the amounts and fees shown before confirming.

  5. 5

Turn on scam detection and consider connecting a Ledger if you hold larger balances.

  6. 6

If you want the card, confirm you are 18 or older and read the Cardholder Agreement first.

Who Phantom Finance is for

Phantom is aimed at people who already hold crypto on supported networks and want to trade, send money or spend from one self-custodial app. It suits users comfortable managing a recovery phrase and comparing in-app fees. It is less suited to people looking for a fixed-return product, or anyone who wants to use leveraged derivatives or prediction markets without understanding how they can lose money.

Phantom Finance FAQs

Is Phantom Finance the same as the Fantom yield farm?

DefiLlama lists a yield farm called Phantom Finance on Fantom with the PHANTOM token, listed since February 2022, and reports no TVL and no audits for it. The official site describes a self-custodial wallet and trading app run by Phantom Technologies, Inc. The project does not establish that these are the same product, so check which one you mean before acting on either name.

Does Phantom hold my crypto?

The official site says Phantom is self-custodial, meaning the user controls the funds and the company says it never has access to them. That also means the user is responsible for the recovery phrase and for approving transactions. Losing the recovery phrase or approving a malicious transaction can lead to loss of funds.

Are prediction markets in Phantom gambling?

The site describes prediction markets as trading on big moments in culture. Outcomes are uncertain and users can lose the amount they stake, so they are closer to betting than to savings. Check that prediction markets are legal where you live, and only use money you can afford to lose. You must be 18 or older for the Visa card, and the site's responsible use guidance applies.

What does Phantom charge in fees?

The project does not publish a fee schedule for swaps, perpetuals, prediction markets or transfers. The homepage says fees may apply to the card and points to the Cardholder Agreement. Readers should check the in-app fee details before confirming any transaction.
