Staking pools let holders of proof-of-stake tokens such as ETH, SOL, BNB, TON or SUI earn network rewards without running their own validator. Users deposit tokens into a smart contract, and the protocol delegates them to validators. Many pools in this category are liquid staking protocols, which return a receipt token that keeps earning while you hold it and can be used elsewhere in DeFi.
The usual business model is a fee taken from the staking rewards. Some pools send part of that fee to node operators, a DAO treasury or token holders, and a few advertise no fee at all. Rewards come from the underlying chain's issuance and transaction fees, so yields move with network conditions and are never fixed. Exchange-backed options, such as Binance Staked SOL and Bybit Staked SOL, add a company into the trust picture.
When comparing, look at fees, validator selection, unstaking speed and the liquidity of the receipt token. Lido is the largest by TVL, Rocket Pool focuses on decentralised Ethereum node operators, and Marinade Native, Jupiter Staked SOL and Lista Liquid Staking serve the Solana and BNB Chain markets. Also read audit reports and understand slashing and smart contract risk before depositing. Staking is a financial product rather than gambling, but any crypto activity carries risk, so check the rules where you live and only use funds you can afford to lose.

Frequently asked questions
What is a staking pool in crypto?
A staking pool collects tokens from many holders and delegates them to validators on a proof-of-stake network. Rewards are shared among participants after fees, so people can earn staking yield without running their own validator or meeting a large minimum.
What is the difference between liquid staking and regular staking?
Liquid staking gives you a receipt token, such as stETH from Lido, rETH from Rocket Pool or tsTON from Tonstakers, when you stake. That token tracks your staked position and can often be traded or used in other DeFi apps. Regular staking usually locks the original tokens or makes them slow to withdraw.
How do staking pools make money?
Staking pools earn money mainly by taking a share of the rewards that validators generate, often called a protocol or validator fee. Some products advertise no fee, as Marinade Native does, and cover costs in other ways. Check each project's fee page, because rates and terms can change.
Is staking in a pool safe?
No. Risks include smart contract bugs, validator slashing, the receipt token trading below the value of the staked asset, and governance or custody issues. Exchange-run products like Binance Staked SOL and Bybit Staked SOL also add reliance on a company. Staking rewards are not guaranteed, and the token price can still fall.
Does a higher TVL mean a staking pool is better?
Total value locked is a rough sign of how much users trust and use a pool, and Lido leads this list at about $23.5B at the time of writing. A large figure does not make a pool risk-free, and it can concentrate stake in one provider, which is a concern for the network itself. Treat it as one input beside audits, track record and fees.
What should I compare when choosing a staking pool?
Compare fees, how the stake is spread across validators, how quickly you can unstake, whether the receipt token has deep liquidity, and who controls the protocol. Rocket Pool puts weight on decentralised node operators, while Marinade Select screens validators on set criteria. Also check the audit history and how many DeFi apps accept the token.
What is the largest staking pool by TVL?
Lido is the largest staking pool by total value locked, with $21.7B. It is followed by Rocket Pool ($1.08B) and Binance Staked SOL ($973M). TVL figures come from DefiLlama and change daily.
Which staking pool has the highest DappsAtlas score?
Lido has the highest score at 8.6/10, ahead of Rocket Pool (8.0) and Marinade Native (7.6). Scores weigh security, ease of use, fees and features, and are based only on facts we could verify.
How many staking pools does DappsAtlas track?
DappsAtlas tracks 97 staking pools. Of these, 97 have a full review and 50 report value locked, $26.1B in total.
What chains do most staking pools run on?
Which staking pools grew the most this week?
Among staking pools with at least $1M locked, Supra Staking had the biggest 7-day TVL gain (+1.6%) and Marinade Select the biggest drop (−21.6%). Combined TVL moved −1.7% over the same seven days.
What is the average score for staking pools?
The 44 rated staking pools average 6.0 out of 10. Of these, 2 score 8 or higher and 6 score below 5.
