Kaia is a layer-1 blockchain formed when Klaytn and Finschia merged. It is EVM-compatible, so Ethereum-style smart contracts and wallets work with it, and it is built for fast finality. The stated aim is to make Web3 easier for everyday users, especially through consumer apps and messaging-style "superapp" use cases across Asia. In 2026 the network also overhauled how validators participate, governance and tokenomics, moving toward a more permissionless setup.

The native token is KAIA. It pays for transactions and is used for staking, and the supply has no fixed maximum. DeFi activity on the chain is modest: about $6.3 million in TVL at the time of writing. Liquidity is thin compared with the biggest EVM networks, so slippage and exit risk deserve attention.

The Kaia-native ecosystem is mostly DeFi. DEXes include KlaySwap V1, DragonSwap V3 and V2, Kokonut Swap, Eklipse Finance and Consensus Liquidity DEX. Staking is a strong theme, with Swapscanner LSD, Lair Finance and GOLDSTATION Staking. SuperEarn offers yield optimization, Kokoa Finance lets users mint the KSD stablecoin, and GOLDSTATION RWA centers on a gold-pegged coin. Multichain names such as Orbit Bridge, LayerZero V2 and Morpho Blue also appear on our list, but their TVL covers more than just Kaia.

Frequently asked questions

What is Kaia?

Kaia is an EVM-compatible layer-1 blockchain created from the merger of Klaytn and Finschia. It is aimed at consumer-facing apps, with a focus on Asian markets. Its native token is KAIA.

Is Kaia compatible with Ethereum?

Yes. Kaia is EVM-compatible, so developers can use Ethereum-style smart contracts and tooling. Wallets and apps built for the EVM generally work with it, though you should check each app's supported network settings.

What is the difference between Klaytn and Kaia?

Kaia is the result of the Klaytn and Finschia networks merging into one chain. Several older Kaia dApps, such as KlaySwap V1 and Eklipse Finance, date from the Klaytn era and are still listed. Some product names, like Swapscanner LSD, still mention KLAY.

What is the KAIA token used for?

KAIA is used to pay network fees and to take part in staking. Staking products on the chain include Swapscanner LSD, Lair Finance (which issues stKAIA) and GOLDSTATION Staking. Our research points to no fixed maximum supply, so check the official tokenomics before relying on supply assumptions.

How much value is locked in Kaia DeFi?

The chain's DeFi TVL was about $6.3 million at the time of writing, which is small next to the large EVM chains. The largest Kaia-native protocols by TVL include SuperEarn, KlaySwap V1 and Swapscanner LSD. Low TVL generally means thinner liquidity, so size your trades with care.

Why do some big dApps on this list show huge TVL figures?

Several large names on our list, such as Binance, LayerZero V2 and Morpho Blue, run across many chains, and the TVL shown for them covers all of those chains, not Kaia alone. Kaia-only apps are mostly smaller DEXes, staking and lending protocols. Read each dApp's page to see what it offers on Kaia in particular.

Are Kaia dApps safe to use?

Smaller protocols carry extra risk, including smart contract bugs, thin liquidity and limited audits. Several Kaia dApps hold under a million dollars in TVL. Read the review, check audit information and start with small amounts. This page is information, not financial advice.

What is the largest dApp on Kaia by TVL?

Binance CEX is the largest dApp on Kaia by total value locked, with $127B across all the chains it supports. It is followed by LayerZero V2 ($17.9B) and Morpho Blue ($10.9B). TVL figures come from DefiLlama and change daily.

Which dApp on Kaia has the highest DappsAtlas score?

LayerZero V2 has the highest score at 8.0/10, ahead of Morpho Blue (8.0) and Team Finance (7.8). Scores weigh security, ease of use, fees and features, and are based only on facts we could verify.

How many dApps are on Kaia?

DappsAtlas tracks 60 dApps on Kaia. Of these, 60 have a full review and 45 report value locked, $167B in total, counting value on every chain they support.

What are the most common types of dApps on Kaia?

DEXes (16), Lending (5) and Centralized Exchanges (5) are the largest categories on Kaia, by number of projects.

Which dApps on Kaia grew the most this week?

Among dApps with at least $1M locked, LayerZero V2 had the biggest 7-day TVL gain (+10.6%) and DragonSwap V3 Kaia the biggest drop (−40.0%). Combined TVL moved −3.7% over the same seven days.

What is the average score for dApps on Kaia?

The 41 rated dApps on Kaia average 5.8 out of 10. Of these, 2 score 8 or higher and 4 score below 5.
