Core is an EVM-compatible layer 1 blockchain built around Bitcoin. It runs on a consensus design called Satoshi Plus, which combines delegated proof of stake with participation from Bitcoin miners and Bitcoin holders who can stake BTC without handing over custody. Because it is EVM-compatible, Ethereum-style contracts, wallets and developer tools generally work on it with little change.

The native token is CORE. It pays network fees and is used for staking and delegating to validators, so you need a small balance to use most apps. DeFi activity on Core is small: total value locked was about $3.3M at the time of writing. Many TVL figures in the list below are multichain totals, so they say little about how much sits on Core itself.

The ecosystem is best known for Bitcoin-oriented finance, often called BTCFi. Examples include BIMA CDP and BTCFi CDP for borrowing against BTC, the restaking projects Pell Network and b14g, and lending markets like Avalon Finance, Segment Finance and Sumer.money. CORE Bridge, the canonical bridge built on LayerZero, links the network to other EVM chains. Multichain names such as LayerZero V2, SushiSwap, Gamma and Sablier also appear in the list. b14g has reported an unauthorized transfer of about 97M CORE, so check each project's recent security record before using it.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Core blockchain?

Core is a smart contract blockchain that is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine and has a strong Bitcoin focus. Its Satoshi Plus consensus combines delegated proof of stake with input from Bitcoin miners and Bitcoin holders. Its native token is CORE.

Is Core compatible with Ethereum wallets and apps?

Yes. Core is EVM-compatible, so Solidity contracts and Ethereum-style wallets generally work with it, and many multichain apps deploy there. Check each dApp's own documentation to confirm Core support and to see which network settings to use.

What token do I need to use Core dApps?

Network fees on Core are paid in CORE, and the token is also used in staking and delegation. You need a small CORE balance in your wallet before you can interact with most dApps. Exact fee levels change with network conditions, so check them in your wallet at the time of use.

How much value is locked on Core?

Core's own DeFi TVL was about $3.3M at the time of writing. The larger TVL figures shown for apps like LayerZero V2 or Gate are totals across all the chains they support, not value held on Core alone. Judge each dApp by its Core deployment, not its headline figure.

Which dApps on Core focus on Bitcoin?

Bitcoin-linked DeFi is the main theme. Listed examples include BIMA CDP and BTCFi CDP for borrowing against BTC, Pell Network and b14g for BTC restaking and staking, and lending markets such as Avalon Finance, Segment Finance and Sumer.money. Many of these also run on other chains.

How do I move assets to Core?

CORE Bridge is listed as the official canonical bridge between Core Network and Ethereum and several other EVM chains, built on LayerZero. Other cross-chain tools such as Symbiosis and Meson route assets between many networks. Check that a bridge supports Core and the exact token you want to move before sending funds.

Are Core dApps safe to use?

Not necessarily, and risk varies a lot by app. For example, b14g reported an unauthorized transfer of about 97M CORE, which is a reminder to read recent incident reports and audits first. Bridges, lending protocols and restaking products all carry smart contract risk, so use only amounts you can afford to lose.

What is the largest dApp on Core by TVL?

LayerZero V2 is the largest dApp on Core by total value locked, with $17.9B across all the chains it supports. It is followed by Gate ($5.91B) and HTX ($3.93B). TVL figures come from DefiLlama and change daily.

Which dApp on Core has the highest DappsAtlas score?

LayerZero V2 has the highest score at 8.0/10, ahead of Sablier Lockup (8.0) and Gate (7.7). Scores weigh security, ease of use, fees and features, and are based only on facts we could verify.

How many dApps are on Core?

DappsAtlas tracks 56 dApps on Core. Of these, 56 have a full review and 39 report value locked, $29.9B in total, counting value on every chain they support.

What are the most common types of dApps on Core?

DEXes (11), Lending (7) and Centralized Exchanges (5) are the largest categories on Core, by number of projects.

Which dApps on Core grew the most this week?

Among dApps with at least $1M locked, LayerZero V2 had the biggest 7-day TVL gain (+10.6%) and Bitrue the biggest drop (−8.2%). Combined TVL moved +5.0% over the same seven days.

What is the average score for dApps on Core?

The 42 rated dApps on Core average 6.1 out of 10. Of these, 2 score 8 or higher and 5 score below 5.
