ActiveBima CDP Review 2026: Bitcoin Collar Loans, No Margin Calls
Bima is a Bitcoin-backed credit protocol that began with minting the USBD stablecoin and now promotes collar loans that let holders borrow against BTC without selling it. Terms are fixed upfront with no margin calls, but the model relies on custodians and option counterparties.

Good
Our verdict on BIMA CDP
6.8/10Bima suits Bitcoin holders who want USDC liquidity without selling, and who value fixed terms with no margin calls over maximum upside. Its main strength is the collar structure, which replaces monthly interest with an option premium and has reviewed contracts behind it. The main caveat is the reliance on custodians, prime brokers and option counterparties, plus capped upside and modest TVL. Treat it as a structured product, not a simple on-chain CDP.

What is BIMA CDP?
Bima is a Bitcoin-focused credit protocol built by Bima Labs, based in San Mateo, California. It launched mainnet in April 2025 as a way for Bitcoin holders to access liquidity while keeping long-term BTC exposure. DeFi listings track roughly $10.9 million in TVL across eight chains.
The current homepage centres on collar loans. Users deposit BTC, wBTC, cbBTC or wBNB, pick a fixed term, and borrow USDC with no scheduled interest and no margin calls. Earlier coverage describes the protocol minting USBD, a Bitcoin-backed stablecoin, against liquid staked Bitcoin.
Bima Labs reported a $2.25 million seed round in July 2024 led by Portal Ventures. The project lists no governance token. A security firm published an audit of the protocol in January 2025, and the homepage says vault, strategy and escrow contracts have been reviewed.
How BIMA CDP works
A user deposits Bitcoin or a supported wrapped asset into a custody vault. Bima then structures a collar: the borrower buys a put that sets a floor price and sells a call that sets a cap. The premium from the call helps pay for the put and the loan, which is why the homepage describes 0% cash interest.
The borrower receives USDC or other stablecoins at a set loan-to-value, shown as 50% in the example. Because the floor is bought upfront, there are no margin calls during the term. If the price rises above the call strike, the extra gain goes to whoever holds the call.
Earlier, Bima was described as a CDP protocol where users mint USBD, a Bitcoin-backed stablecoin, by depositing liquid staked or restaked Bitcoin tokens. The listing still classes it as a CDP, and its TVL is spread across several chains.

Key features
01
Collar-based loans
Borrow USDC against BTC, wBTC, cbBTC or wBNB. A collar fixes a price range for the collateral and the option premium funds the loan.
02
0% cash interest
The homepage advertises no scheduled interest payments, with the cost covered by the option premium rather than monthly charges.
03
Fixed terms upfront
Amount, term, floor and cap are locked before any capital moves, so there are no rate resets during the loan.
04
No margin calls
The protocol states there is no mid-term liquidation and no collateral top-ups during the term.
05
Institutional custody
Collateral is held in vaults and placed with approved prime brokers, according to the homepage.
06
Multi-chain reach
The protocol is listed on Bitcoin, Ethereum, Hemi, Core, Sonic, Plume, BNB Chain and GOAT.
07
Yield vault partnerships
A partnership announced in 2025 aimed to offer real-yield vaults so BTC holders can access yield strategies without selling.
Pros and cons
What we like
- Fixed loan terms with no margin calls or mid-term liquidations during the term.
- No scheduled cash interest, since the option premium funds the loan.
- Contracts for the vault, strategy and escrow have been independently reviewed, with findings reported as resolved.
- Supports several collateral types and is live on multiple chains.
- Funded by a disclosed seed round and active since 2025.
Watch out for
- Collateral sits with institutional custodians and approved prime brokers, which adds counterparty risk that pure on-chain CDPs avoid.
- Upside above the call strike goes to the call buyer, so borrowers give up gains beyond the cap.
- The price floor depends on counterparty credit, according to the project's own disclaimer.
- The protocol has no governance token, and the team, fee schedule and full audit details are not clearly published on the homepage.
- TVL is modest at roughly $10.9 million, so liquidity and track record are limited compared with older CDP protocols.
- The product has shifted from an on-chain USBD minting model toward collar loans, which can confuse new users about what is currently offered.
BIMA CDP fees
Bima does not publish a fee schedule on its homepage. The headline claim is 0% cash interest, because the option premium from the collar pays for the loan rather than monthly interest.
The real cost is the upside given up above the call strike, plus any pricing embedded in the option structure. Users would see exact terms in the loan preview inside the app before committing. Gas and network costs on the chosen chain would apply separately.
Is BIMA CDP safe?
Bima says its vault, strategy and escrow contracts were independently reviewed and that every finding in the latest collateral fixed-term audit was resolved. A separate security firm published a protocol audit page in January 2025. The listing data shows no audits recorded, so readers should read the audit documents directly.
Collateral is held in vaults and placed with approved prime brokers, so users carry custodian and counterparty risk on top of smart-contract risk. The homepage disclaimer states that the floor depends on counterparty credit. Regulatory status, insurance cover and any incident history are not published on the homepage. Only commit what you can afford to lose.
6 steps
How to get started with BIMA CDP
- 1
Read the documentation and the audit materials on the project's site before depositing anything.
- 2
Check that borrowing against crypto with custodians and options counterparties is permitted where you live.
- 3
Open the app and connect a wallet that holds a supported asset such as BTC, wBTC, cbBTC or wBNB.
- 4
Choose a deposit amount and review the loan preview: LTV, term, put and call strikes.
- 5
Confirm the fixed terms, deposit into the custody vault and receive USDC or other stablecoins.
- 6
Track the term end date and decide how you will settle before maturity.
Who BIMA CDP is for
Long-term Bitcoin holders, businesses and institutions that want stablecoin liquidity without selling BTC, and that accept capped upside and custodial counterparties in return for fixed terms. It is less suited to users who want fully on-chain, permissionless borrowing.
BIMA CDP FAQs
What is Bima?
Bima is a Bitcoin structured finance platform from Bima Labs. It lets holders use BTC and similar assets as collateral to access liquidity without selling. Earlier materials describe minting the USBD stablecoin against liquid staked Bitcoin.
What is a Bitcoin collar loan on Bima?
A collar sets a price floor (put) and a cap (call) around the collateral's value. The option premium is used to pay for the loan, so no scheduled cash interest is charged. The homepage example uses a 12-month term with strikes 15% below and above spot.
Can my collateral be liquidated?
The homepage says there are no margin calls and no mid-term liquidation or collateral top-ups during the term. The trade-off is that terms are fixed and upside above the call strike is given up.
What collateral can I use?
The homepage names Bitcoin, wBTC, cbBTC and wBNB as examples of collateral. The loan preview example uses 1 BTC at 50% LTV, and the borrowed asset shown is USDC.
Has Bima been audited?
The protocol states that its vault, strategy and escrow contracts have been independently reviewed and that all findings in the latest collateral fixed-term audit were resolved. A security firm also published an audit page for the protocol in early 2025. Audits reduce risk but do not remove it.
Does Bima have a token?
No. The listing data shows no token for the protocol. Bima Labs has reported a $2.25 million seed round led by Portal Ventures.
