Our verdict on Molten V3

6.2/10

Molten V3 suits users who already hold Bitcoin wrappers or liquid staking tokens on Core and want a DEX built around them. Its main strength is the split between a V3 AMM and a stable AMM, which fits both volatile and pegged pairs. The main caveat is size: about $207K in TVL means thin liquidity, and fees, team and audit details are not published on the homepage. Check price impact before each trade and size positions modestly.

What is Molten V3?

Molten V3 is a decentralized exchange on the Core chain that calls itself the liquidity hub for BTCfi. The homepage says it offers low-slippage swaps and yield across Bitcoin wrappers and liquid staking tokens.

The product has two trading modes: a V3 AMM for volatile pairs and a stable AMM for similarly priced assets. The site also lists Stable Pools, a Portal and Tournaments in its menu. DefiLlama has tracked it since November 2024.

TVL is about $207K, with a 7-day change of -0.8%, so this is a small venue. DefiLlama lists two audits and no native token. The team, fee schedule and audit reports are not detailed on the homepage.

How Molten V3 works

Molten is an automated market maker. Instead of an order book, trades run against pools of tokens that liquidity providers deposit. The price moves along a formula as the pool balance changes.

The site offers two modes. The V3 AMM uses concentrated liquidity, where providers choose a price range for their capital, which suits volatile pairs. The stable AMM uses a curve designed for assets that should stay close in value, which keeps slippage lower between similar Bitcoin wrappers and liquid staking tokens.

Liquidity providers earn a share of the trading fees in return for taking on risks such as impermanent loss and smart-contract risk. Trades and deposits are executed from a user's own wallet.

6 features

Key features

01

Volatile pair mode

The swap interface offers a V3 AMM for volatile pairs, which suits assets whose prices move independently.

02

Stable pair mode

A separate stable AMM is meant for assets that track each other, such as Bitcoin wrappers, aiming at lower slippage.

03

Liquidity pools

The site has a Stable Pools page where users can supply liquidity and earn from trading activity.

04

BTCfi yield focus

The homepage pitches yield across Bitcoin wrappers and liquid staking tokens, not only trading.

05

Tournaments

The navigation includes a Tournaments section, which suggests trading competitions. Details are not published on the homepage.

06

Portal

A Portal section is listed in the menu, though its function is not explained on the homepage.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Dedicated stable AMM suited to Bitcoin wrappers and LSTs
  • Also offers a V3 concentrated-liquidity AMM for volatile pairs
  • Two audits are listed by DefiLlama
  • Non-custodial: trades are executed from the user's own wallet
  • Tracked since November 2024, so it has some operating history
  • No token required to use the exchange

Watch out for

  • Small TVL of roughly $207K, so deep liquidity for larger swaps is unlikely
  • Limited to the Core chain, which has a narrower user base than Ethereum or Solana
  • No native token is listed, so there is no governance or fee-sharing token to evaluate
  • Team, fees and audit details are not published on the homepage
  • Focus on Bitcoin wrappers and LSTs adds wrapper and bridge risk on top of DEX risk

Molten V3 fees

Swap fees, pool fee tiers and any protocol fee are not published on the homepage. Users would see the fee and price impact in the swap interface and on each pool page once a wallet is connected.

As with any DEX, expect to pay network gas on Core in addition to the swap fee. Liquidity providers earn a share of trading fees, but the exact split is not stated.

Is Molten V3 safe?

DefiLlama lists two audits for Molten V3, but the homepage does not name the auditors or link reports. Audits do not guarantee safety, and a protocol with small TVL may have had less real-world stress testing. The team is not identified.

Beyond the DEX contracts, users face risk from the Bitcoin wrappers and liquid staking tokens they trade, including issuer, custody and bridge risk, and depegging in stable pools. Use a small amount first and keep funds in a wallet you control.

6 steps

How to get started with Molten V3

  1. 1

Set up a wallet that supports the Core network and add the network if needed.

  2. 2

Fund the wallet with CORE for gas and the Bitcoin-pegged asset you want to trade.

  3. 3

Open the Molten site and connect the wallet.

  4. 4

Choose Volatile Pair Mode or Stable Pair Mode depending on the assets.

  5. 5

Check the quoted price, slippage and fee, then confirm the swap.

  6. 6

To earn yield, open Stable Pools, review the pool and supply liquidity, starting with a small amount.

Who Molten V3 is for

Molten V3 is for users active on the Core network who want to swap or provide liquidity for Bitcoin-pegged assets. It is less suited to traders who need deep liquidity, many pairs or a governance token.

Molten V3 FAQs

What is Molten V3?

Molten V3 is a decentralized exchange on the Core chain focused on BTCfi. It lets users swap Bitcoin wrappers and liquid staking tokens and supply liquidity to earn yield.

Which blockchain does Molten V3 run on?

DefiLlama lists Molten V3 on Core only. The homepage does not mention other networks.

Does Molten V3 have a token?

No. DefiLlama lists no token for Molten V3. Public reporting for similarly named projects refer to different assets, so do not assume a link.

Has Molten V3 been audited?
