Our verdict on Raydium
7.6/10Raydium suits Solana users who want to swap tokens or provide liquidity from a self-custodied wallet. Its main strength is fast, low-cost trading on a long-established Solana AMM, with a clear 0.25% liquidity fee. The main caveat is the usual DEX risk set: impermanent loss, volatile prices, smart-contract exposure and unvetted tokens. Check the quoted fee and slippage on every trade, and start small.

What is Raydium?
Raydium is a decentralized exchange and automated market maker on Solana. It lets users swap tokens from their own wallets and earn fees by supplying liquidity to pools. It is described as offering fast, low-cost trading with deep liquidity.
Its native token, RAY, is used to pay fees, provide liquidity and govern the protocol. Recent news coverage mentions large RAY price moves and about $190M in buybacks, though prices quoted across trackers vary and should be checked live.
For Solana traders, Raydium is a long-standing venue for swapping tokens and providing liquidity. Like any open DEX, it exposes users to smart-contract, token and price risk.
How Raydium works
Raydium is an automated market maker. Instead of matching buyers and sellers one by one, it holds pools of two tokens. A trader swaps one token for the other, and the pool's formula sets the price based on the balance of the two assets.
Liquidity providers deposit both tokens into a pool and receive a share of the fees from trades that go through it. If the relative price of the two tokens moves, the provider can end up with less value than simply holding them, a risk called impermanent loss.
The platform runs on Solana, which keeps transaction costs low and confirmations fast. It was originally tied to the Serum order book for deeper liquidity. The RAY token is used to pay fees, provide liquidity and vote on governance.

Pros and cons
What we like
- Non-custodial: you trade from your own wallet
- Built on Solana, so transactions are fast and cheap
- Supports both swapping and earning fees as a liquidity provider
- RAY token has defined roles in fees, liquidity and governance
- Flat, clearly stated 0.25% liquidity fee on standard trading
- Well-known name in the Solana DEX space with active trading volume
Watch out for
- Runs only on Solana, so users need a Solana wallet and SOL for network fees
- The 0.25% swap fee on standard pools can cost more than some competing routes, especially for large trades
- Liquidity providers face impermanent loss when pool token prices diverge
- RAY price swings are large, and price data across trackers varies widely
- Smart-contract risk applies, and audit details are not covered here
- Meme-token and new-pool listings are open, so users must check token legitimacy themselves
Raydium fees
A fee summary says Raydium charges a 0.25% liquidity fee per transaction, regardless of whether you are a maker or a taker. That fee is part of the swap and is paid to the pool's liquidity providers and the protocol.
On top of that, Solana network fees apply to each transaction. Fees on other pool types and any slippage appear in the swap interface before you confirm, so check them there for the specific pair you trade.
Is Raydium safe?
Raydium is non-custodial, so funds stay in your wallet until you trade or deposit into a pool. That removes exchange custody risk but puts responsibility for key security on you. Transactions cannot be reversed.
The main risks are smart-contract flaws, impermanent loss in pools, volatile token prices and fake or malicious tokens that anyone can list. Audit reports and incident history are not detailed here, so read them on the project's own documentation before depositing significant funds. Check your local rules on trading crypto before you start.

Fund the wallet with SOL for network fees and the token you want to trade.
- 3
Open the Raydium app and connect your wallet.
- 4
Select the tokens to swap, then review the quoted price, fee and slippage setting.
- 5

- 6
To provide liquidity instead, pick a pool, read the impermanent loss risk, and start with a small deposit.
Who Raydium is for
Raydium is for people already comfortable with a Solana wallet who want to swap tokens or earn fees as liquidity providers. It is less suited to beginners who want a custodial, account-based exchange with customer support and fiat on-ramps.
