What Raydium (RAY) is

Raydium (RAY) is the token tied to Raydium, an automated market maker (AMM) and decentralized exchange on the Solana blockchain. Raydium launched as an AMM that plugged into the Serum order book, which meant its liquidity pools could access the order flow of a central limit order book instead of relying only on their own pool. That design was the project's main selling point in its early days.

Today Raydium is described as one of Solana's core liquidity hubs. It supports token swaps, liquidity pools, farms, token launches and more advanced liquidity provider strategies, including both standard AMM pools and concentrated liquidity pools. RAY itself is the protocol's native token, issued on Solana, and it is not the native coin of any separate blockchain.

At the time of writing, RAY ranks around 111th by market capitalization, so it is a mid-sized asset in the wider market. It is commonly grouped with DeFi, DEX, yield farming and launchpad tokens.

What the token is used for

Public descriptions of RAY point to several roles, and the sources do not fully agree on how far each one goes. The most commonly cited uses are staking to earn a share of protocol fees, staking to receive allocations in token launches (IDOs), and voting on governance decisions. Some descriptions also say RAY can fund rewards and incentives on the platform, or be deposited into liquidity pools.

The project's own white paper language is more cautious. It describes RAY as currently serving on-chain governance and ecosystem alignment, and notes that its utility may evolve. That is a useful reminder that the token's role depends on how the protocol is run at any given time, and that features can change.

RAY is not required to swap on Raydium. Trading fees are generally paid in the tokens being traded, so holding RAY is a separate decision from using the exchange.

Supply and tokenomics

RAY has a fixed maximum supply of 555 million tokens. According to the data as of 2026-11-05, the total supply in existence is about 555 million, and the circulating supply is roughly 270 million. That means a little under half of the maximum supply was circulating at the time of writing.

The gap shows up in the valuation figures. Market capitalization was about $469.3 million, while fully diluted valuation, which assumes every token is in circulation, was about $964.7 million. A large difference between the two usually means a sizable share of tokens is still locked, held in reserve or yet to be distributed, which can add selling pressure over time if those tokens are released.

public data here does not break down allocation percentages or vesting schedules, so check the project's official documentation for the current breakdown instead of relying on third-party summaries.

Chains, holding and trading

RAY is issued on Solana, so it is held in Solana-compatible wallets and moves at Solana's typical speed and cost. Holders generally manage it the way they would any Solana token: through a self-custody wallet that supports SPL tokens, or through an exchange account that lists RAY.

On the trading side, RAY is traded on centralized exchanges and on decentralized venues, including Raydium itself. At the time of writing, 24-hour trading volume was about $45.7 million, which suggests active but not extreme market interest relative to its size. Liquidity and spreads differ between venues, so it is worth checking the pool or order book depth before a larger trade.

When bridging or using wrapped versions of tokens, confirm that you are handling the genuine Solana-issued RAY and check the token address through official channels, since lookalike tokens are common on Solana.

History and price context

RAY launched during the 2021 DeFi boom and reached an all-time high of about $16.83 on 2021-09-12. It then fell sharply through the bear market, hitting an all-time low of about $0.134 on 2022-12-29. That is a drawdown of more than 90% from peak to trough, which shows how volatile the token has been.

As of 2026-11-05 the price was around $1.74. The data shows a gain of roughly 5.6% over seven days and about 34.7% over one year, though the price is still far below its 2021 peak. These are historical observations only and say nothing about where the price goes next.

The project also moved well beyond its original Serum-linked design, adding concentrated liquidity pools and a token launch platform called LaunchLab. public data here does not give an exact launch date for the token, so this page does not state one.

Key risks

RAY carries the usual risks of a DeFi token, plus some specific to its position. Smart contract risk is the first: bugs or exploits in a protocol can lead to lost funds, and audits reduce but do not remove that risk. Liquidity providers also face impermanent loss, where the value of pooled tokens can lag behind simply holding them.

Competition is a real factor. Solana has several other DEXs and aggregators, and trading activity can move between them. RAY's value is also tied to Solana's overall health and to how much trading and token-launch activity happens on Raydium.

Token launches through a launchpad can involve very new, thinly traded and sometimes scam tokens, so participants should treat them with caution. Finally, the gap between circulating supply and maximum supply means future unlocks could affect the market. RAY is a volatile asset, and nothing here is financial advice.

How to store RAY safely

For long-term holding, a self-custody wallet that supports Solana tokens gives you control of your keys. A hardware wallet paired with a Solana wallet app adds protection, because the private key stays on the device and signing requires physical confirmation. Write your recovery phrase down offline and never type it into a website or share it with anyone.

Before connecting to any DeFi app, verify that you are on the official site, since phishing clones of popular DEXs are common. Review each transaction and token approval before signing, and consider using a separate wallet with a small balance for experimenting with pools, farms or new launches.

If you keep RAY on an exchange, remember that you rely on the exchange's security and withdrawal policies. Enable two-factor authentication and consider moving amounts you do not plan to trade into your own wallet.

By the numbers

Raydium in numbers

Raydium (RAY) is ranked #108 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $471M and a price of $1.75 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $969M, so roughly 49% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.

The price was up 6.9% over 7 days, down 22.6% over 30 days, up 28.8% over the past year. It trades about 90% below its all-time high of $16.83, set on Sep 12, 2021.

About 269.96M RAY are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 555M (49% issued).

24-hour trading volume was about $35.3M, or 7.5% of its market cap: moderate turnover.

RAY has token contracts on Solana. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

RAY is linked to Raydium, which we cover in our DEXes rankings. See our Raydium page for how the protocol works and how we score it.

RAY FAQs

What is Raydium (RAY) used for?

RAY is the native token of the Raydium protocol on Solana. Public sources describe uses such as staking for a share of protocol fees, receiving token launch allocations and voting on governance. The project's white paper notes that its utility may evolve.

Is RAY its own blockchain?

No. RAY is issued on Solana as a token rather than being the native coin of its own blockchain. Solana's native coin, SOL, is used to pay network fees.

What is the maximum supply of RAY?

The maximum supply is 555 million RAY. As of 2026-11-05, about 270 million were circulating and total supply was roughly 555 million, according to the data used for this page.

What are RAY's all-time high and low?

RAY peaked at about $16.83 on 2021-09-12 and bottomed at about $0.134 on 2022-12-29. As of 2026-11-05 the price was around $1.74, still well below the peak. Past performance does not indicate future results.

How do I store RAY safely?

RAY can be held in a Solana-compatible wallet, ideally a hardware wallet for larger amounts, or kept on an exchange that lists it. Always verify the official token address and website to avoid fake tokens and phishing clones.

What is the market cap of Raydium?

As of Nov 6, 2026, Raydium had a market cap of about $471M, ranking #108 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.

What is the all-time high of RAY?

Raydium's all-time high is $16.83, reached on Sep 12, 2021. Its all-time low is $0.1344 (Dec 29, 2022). Past prices say nothing about future returns.

What is the circulating supply of RAY?

As of Nov 6, 2026, about 269.96M RAY were in circulation, against a maximum supply of 555M.

Which blockchains is RAY on?

It has token contracts on Solana.
