What Maple Finance and SYRUP are
Maple Finance is an onchain asset manager. According to its own description, it pools capital from lenders and directs it to underwritten strategies, and institutional borrowers draw on those strategies to fund and grow their businesses. The yield lenders earn comes from the interest those borrowers pay back. Partners can also embed the same yield inside their own products.
The project says it has operated through full market cycles since 2019. It reports more than $25B in loans originated, about $4.8B in assets under management and over $100M in yield distributed to lenders, with positions and transactions visible onchain. These are the project's own figures and we have not checked them independently.
SYRUP is the protocol's token. It sits alongside Maple's lending products rather than being the thing lenders deposit. Maple also uses the name Syrup for a yield product built around stablecoin deposits, so it helps to separate the product name from the SYRUP token when reading about the project.
What SYRUP is used for
Public sources describe SYRUP as the token that gives the Maple community a role in the protocol through staking, governance and shared protocol economics. Governance means holders can take part in decisions about how the protocol evolves. Staking means locking tokens in the protocol in exchange for benefits set by Maple's rules.
The exact reward mechanics, fee shares and governance procedures have changed over time and can be updated by the project, so check Maple's current documentation before relying on any description, including this one. One third-party overview also says the token has been used to back lending pools and to supply liquidity in secondary markets, but this is a secondary description and not a confirmed specification.
SYRUP is not a stablecoin and does not represent a deposit claim. Lenders who put money into Maple's pools receive the yield from borrower interest. Holding SYRUP is a separate position whose value depends on market demand for the token and the protocol's prospects.
Supply and tokenomics
Figures below are approximate, as of 2026-11-05. About 1.17 billion SYRUP were circulating, and the total supply was about 1.27 billion. No maximum supply is listed in our data, which means the supply cap is either absent or not clearly published. The fully diluted valuation was about $197.2M against a market cap of about $181.5M, a fairly small gap, so most of the existing supply was already in circulation.
Public tokenomics write-ups say SYRUP came from a migration: holders of the older MPL token could convert to SYRUP through a migrator contract, and later issuance and emissions are minted as SYRUP. That makes SYRUP the successor of MPL and not a wholly separate asset.
We do not have a verified breakdown of allocations to team, investors, treasury or community, nor a complete emissions schedule. Anyone who wants that detail should read Maple's official documentation and the migrator and token contracts, since new issuance can affect per-token value over time.
Chains, holding and trading
SYRUP is issued on Ethereum and Base. It is not the native coin of any blockchain. On both networks it is a standard token held at an ordinary wallet address, and you pay network fees in that chain's own coin, such as ETH. Base is a lower-fee network built on top of Ethereum, so moving SYRUP there is usually cheaper than moving it on Ethereum itself.
In general terms, a token like this can be traded on centralised exchanges, where the exchange holds it for you, and on decentralised exchanges, where you swap from your own wallet. Liquidity differs by venue. At the time of writing the 24-hour trading volume was about $6.7M and the token ranked around 182 by market cap, which suggests moderate liquidity. Larger orders can still move the price noticeably, especially on smaller venues.
When you buy or move SYRUP, confirm which network the token is on before sending. Sending to an address or chain that does not support it can result in permanent loss.
History and notable events
Public sources say SYRUP was introduced in 2024. Around then Maple promoted its Syrup yield product, which offered returns for USDC deposits. Maple's earlier token, MPL, was later replaced through a migration to SYRUP, with a migrator contract for holders to convert.
In April 2025 Spark, another DeFi protocol, announced an integration with Maple and an initial allocation of $50M, which was a notable partnership for the lending side of the business. As for the token's market history, our data shows an all-time low of about $0.085 on 2025-04-06 and an all-time high of about $0.653 on 2025-06-25. As of 2026-11-05 the price was about $0.156. That is roughly 76 percent below the peak and about 57 percent lower than a year earlier, with the past week roughly flat.
These are historical observations and say nothing about what will happen next. One video on the platform raised questions about possible manipulation, but we have not seen evidence confirming that claim, so we treat it as unverified.
Key risks
SYRUP carries several layers of risk. The first is market risk. Its price has swung widely, falling by more than half over the past year at the time of writing, and mid-cap tokens can move sharply on small changes in demand.
The second is credit risk in the underlying business. Maple lends to institutional borrowers, and if borrowers default or collateral is insufficient, lenders and the protocol's reputation can suffer. Because the token's value is tied to the protocol's success, that risk can feed through to SYRUP.
Third, smart contract risk. Lending pools, staking and migration contracts can contain bugs or be exploited, even after audits. Fourth, regulatory risk: institutional lending and real-world asset products draw attention from regulators in many jurisdictions, and rules can change. Fifth, tokenomics risk: ongoing emissions and unknown allocation details can dilute holders.
Finally, there is scam risk. The MPL to SYRUP migration and the popularity of the name have been used as bait by phishing sites and fake tokens. This page is for information only and is not financial advice.
How to store SYRUP safely
Because SYRUP is a standard token on Ethereum and Base, it can be held in any compatible self-custody wallet. For larger amounts, a hardware wallet keeps the private keys offline and is generally considered safer than a browser wallet or a keeping tokens on an exchange. Write your recovery phrase on paper, store it offline in more than one secure place, and never type it into a website or share it with anyone, including anyone claiming to be support staff.
Before buying or interacting, verify the token's contract address from Maple's official channels, since copycat tokens with the same name exist. Use a small test transaction first when sending to a new address, and double-check the network.
Be careful with approvals. When you connect to a dApp, you may grant it permission to spend your tokens, and unneeded approvals can be revoked afterward. Treat unsolicited messages about migration, airdrops or claims as suspicious, and start from the project's official site when you need to convert old MPL.
By the numbers
Maple Finance in numbers
Maple Finance (SYRUP) is ranked #188 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $167M and a price of $0.1429 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $181M, so roughly 92% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.
The price was down 6.6% over 7 days, down 41.0% over 30 days, down 66.5% over the past year. It trades about 78% below its all-time high of $0.6532, set on Jun 25, 2025.
About 1.17B SYRUP are in circulation, from a total supply of 1.27B. No hard maximum supply is listed.
24-hour trading volume was about $7.38M, or 4.4% of its market cap: moderate turnover.
SYRUP has token contracts on 2 chains we track, including Ethereum, Base. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

SYRUP FAQs
What is SYRUP?
SYRUP is the token of Maple Finance, an onchain asset manager that connects lenders with institutional borrowers. Public sources describe it as supporting staking, governance and shared protocol economics. It is issued on Ethereum and Base.
What is the difference between MPL and SYRUP?
MPL was Maple's earlier token. Public tokenomics notes say a migrator contract lets MPL holders convert to SYRUP, and later issuance and emissions are minted as SYRUP. Check Maple's official channels for the current process and for any deadlines.
What is the supply of SYRUP?
Our data lists about 1.17 billion SYRUP circulating and about 1.27 billion in total supply as of 2026-11-05. No maximum supply is listed. Emissions can change the total over time.
Which blockchains does SYRUP run on?
Our data lists Ethereum and Base. It is a token on those networks, not the native coin of its own blockchain. Always confirm the network and contract address before sending or buying.
Is SYRUP safe?
Maple's yield comes from interest paid by institutional borrowers, so it is exposed to credit and smart contract risk, and returns are not guaranteed. SYRUP is a separate token whose price is volatile and has fallen by more than half in the past year at the time of writing. Do your own research and do not treat this page as advice.
Does holding SYRUP earn the lending yield?
Not necessarily. Maple's yield products are the lending side of the business, while SYRUP is the protocol's own token. The name Syrup is also used for a yield product, so check which one a page or app is talking about.
What is the market cap of Maple Finance?
As of Nov 6, 2026, Maple Finance had a market cap of about $167M, ranking #188 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.
What is the all-time high of SYRUP?
Maple Finance's all-time high is $0.6532, reached on Jun 25, 2025. Its all-time low is $0.0852 (Apr 6, 2025). Past prices say nothing about future returns.
What is the circulating supply of SYRUP?
As of Nov 6, 2026, about 1.17B SYRUP were in circulation; no fixed maximum supply is listed.
Which blockchains is SYRUP on?
It has token contracts on Ethereum, Base.
