What Anvil is

Anvil is a set of smart contracts on Ethereum that manages collateral and uses it to issue fully secured credit. The best-known example is a digital letter of credit (LOC). It works like a paper bank cheque that draws on verified funds, so the person receiving it has an economic guarantee of payment.

The idea is that assets locked in the protocol can back a financial commitment without the collateral being moved or sold. Because the backing can be checked on-chain, the receiving party does not have to trust the issuer, which reduces counterparty risk.

The project describes itself as a primitive building block. It is meant to be simple, safe and composable, so other applications can plug into it. It also aims to bring in collateral from both decentralized and traditional finance over time.

On our site, Anvil is listed under Collateral Management with a score of 6.8 out of 10. ANVL is the token tied to this protocol. It is classed as a DeFi token and is issued on Ethereum rather than being the native coin of its own chain.

What ANVL is used for

The project's own description focuses on what the protocol does, not on what the token does. It lists three main uses for LOCs: payments, counterparty credit and asset bridging.

Payments. A LOC can give a merchant security for online or in-store digital payments, since the funds behind it are verified.

Counterparty credit. Centralized exchanges could accept LOCs to secure instant deposits, so a trader can start trading immediately, or to make liquidity provision more efficient.

Asset bridging. LOCs can support quick cross-platform transactions and secure deposits or withdrawals on layer 2 networks. Where a platform has integrated Anvil LOCs, on-demand transfers could be made safely.

For the token itself, some price-tracking pages describe ANVL as a governance and utility token. Holders can take part in decisions about the protocol. Beyond governance, the exact roles of ANVL, such as fee capture or staking, are not set out in the data we have, so check the official documentation before assuming any specific function.

A recent announcement mentioned an SDK launch and enterprise partnerships. The headline alone does not tell us who the partners are or how they use the protocol, so we do not name any.

Supply and tokenomics

ANVL has a fixed maximum supply of 100 billion tokens, and the total supply is the same figure. As of 2026-11-05, roughly 88.1 billion were circulating, which is about 88% of the maximum. That is a high share, so future unlocks should add less new supply than at many younger tokens.

At the time of writing, the price was about $0.0020. That put the market cap near $177.7 million and the fully diluted valuation near $201.8 million, with a market cap rank of about 185. The gap between the two valuations reflects the tokens not yet in circulation.

Daily trading volume was about $97,748 at the same date. That is very low next to the market cap, which can mean thin liquidity and larger price swings on modest orders.

The data we have does not include an allocation breakdown, vesting schedule or emissions plan. Some third-party pages refer to a token sale and an airdrop, and a community thread discusses claiming tokens through the Anvil website with a connected wallet. We cannot confirm the details here, so read the project's official tokenomics material if you want specifics on who received tokens and when.

Chains, holding and trading

ANVL is issued on Ethereum as a standard token, which means it can be held in any wallet that supports Ethereum tokens. It is not the native asset of its own blockchain, so there is no separate mining or validator system behind it. Moving it requires ETH to pay network fees.

Trading details are less clear from our data. Price trackers list the token and show it with a small daily volume, which suggests that trading is concentrated on a limited number of venues. Check which exchanges and decentralized pools actually list ANVL, and compare the liquidity before placing any order. On thin markets the price you get can differ noticeably from the quoted price.

The airdrop-style claim process mentioned in community discussion involves connecting a wallet to the Anvil website. Treat any claim flow with care. Make sure you reached the real site through the project's official channels, because fake claim pages are a common way to drain wallets.

Using the protocol itself, as opposed to just holding the token, means interacting with its smart contracts, for example locking collateral to issue a LOC. That is a separate activity with its own risks.

History and notable events

The price history shows large swings. According to the data, ANVL reached an all-time high of about $0.00929 on 2025-01-03. The recorded all-time low is about $0.0000251, dated 2025-10-11. A low dated after the high, at a level far below today's price, may reflect early or thin trading data, so treat these two points with some caution.

As of 2026-11-05, the price was up about 12% over seven days and about 148% over one year, though still well below the all-time high.

Two news items from October 2026 stand out in public reporting. One is an announcement of an SDK launch and enterprise partnerships. The other is a report that Founders Fund led a roughly $5 million purchase of ANVL governance tokens, with a headline saying the price jumped about 83% afterward. We have not verified the report beyond the headline, so check the original coverage and the project's own statements.

The data does not give a launch date for the token, so we do not state one.

Risks to understand

Smart contract risk. Anvil's protocol holds collateral in code. A bug or exploit could cause losses, and the risk grows as more value and more integrations connect to it.

Adoption risk. The uses described, such as payments, exchange credit and bridging, depend on other platforms choosing to integrate LOCs. Announced partnerships do not guarantee real usage.

Liquidity risk. Daily volume was only about $97,748 at the time of writing, against a market cap of roughly $177.7 million. Selling a large amount could be hard without moving the price.

Volatility. The token has moved sharply in both directions. Headlines about large purchases can spark short-lived jumps that fade.

Governance and concentration. If a small number of holders own a large share of a governance token, they can have outsized influence on votes. Check holder distribution on a block explorer.

Scam risk. Airdrop claims and token-related giveaways attract phishing. Only use links from official channels.

How to store it safely

Because ANVL is a standard Ethereum token, the usual rules for Ethereum assets apply.

Use a wallet you control. A hardware wallet keeps the private keys offline and is the common choice for larger holdings. A software wallet is fine for smaller amounts if the device is kept clean and updated. Exchange balances are held by the exchange, not by you.

Protect your recovery phrase. Write it down on paper or metal and store it offline. Never type it into a website, and never share it. No genuine support team will ask for it.

Check contract addresses. Copy the ANVL token contract address from the project's official documentation, and compare it with what your wallet shows. Lookalike tokens with the same name and symbol exist for many projects.

Be careful with approvals. When you connect to a claim page or a dApp, you may be asked to approve token spending. Read what you are approving, and revoke permissions you no longer need.

Keep some ETH. You need it to pay gas fees when moving tokens or interacting with contracts.

By the numbers

Anvil in numbers

Anvil (ANVL) is ranked #187 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $167M and a price of $0.001896 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $190M, so roughly 88% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.

The price was up 6.3% over 7 days, up 85.2% over 30 days, up 154% over the past year. It trades about 80% below its all-time high of $0.009290, set on Jan 3, 2025.

About 88.08B ANVL are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 100B (88% issued).

24-hour trading volume was about $149K, or 0.1% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.

ANVL has token contracts on Ethereum. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.
