What Jito (JTO) is

Jito (JTO) is the governance token of the Jito Network, a set of products built around Solana staking and MEV. MEV stands for maximum extractable value, the profit available to whoever controls the order in which transactions are included in a block. A common example is arbitrage: a large swap on one exchange moves a pool's price away from another venue, and traders race to capture the gap.

The Jito Foundation was set up to reduce the harmful side of MEV, share the profits more fairly and make the process more transparent. Its best-known pieces are an open-source validator client that runs auctions inside each block, and JitoSOL, a liquid staking token. Traders bid for the right to capture a block's MEV, and the highest bidders win.

JTO sits on top of this as the governance layer. It is not the same thing as JitoSOL. You exchange SOL for JitoSOL to stake, while JTO is the separate token that gives holders a voice in how the network and its treasury are run. The two are easy to confuse because they share a name.

What JTO is used for

The main publicly stated purpose of JTO is governance. Holders can take part in decisions about the future direction of the Jito Network, including how its DAO and treasury are managed. Public descriptions from the launch period describe the token as a way to give the community a say rather than leaving decisions to a single company.

The liquid staking product shows what that governance covers. Through JitoSOL, users swap SOL for a token that keeps its liquidity and can be used in Solana DeFi while still earning staking yield. JitoSOL holders also receive extra rewards from MEV-related transaction revenue on Solana. Decisions about the broader network, such as how it develops and how funds are directed, fall within the scope of the DAO.

Beyond governance, the public information available to us do not describe other built-in uses for JTO, so we will not guess at any. Check the official Jito documentation and governance forum for the current list of proposals, voting rules and any changes to what the token does, since these can be updated by votes.

Supply and tokenomics

At the time of writing, as of 2026-11-05, JTO has a total supply of 1 billion tokens. About 540 million were circulating, which is roughly 54 percent of the total. No maximum supply is listed, so we cannot say whether the total can change through future governance decisions.

The gap between circulating and total supply matters. Market capitalisation was about $191.7M, while fully diluted valuation, which assumes all 1 billion tokens at the current price, was about $354.8M. If the remaining tokens enter circulation over time, the available supply grows, and that can weigh on the price depending on demand.

The price was about $0.35, with roughly $16.6M traded over the previous 24 hours. JTO ranked around 175th by market cap.

The data we have does not break down how the supply was allocated between community, team, investors and treasury, or the vesting schedules. Rather than guess, we suggest checking the official token documentation for allocation and unlock details before relying on any supply figures.

Chains, holding and trading

JTO is issued on Solana as an SPL token, the standard format for fungible tokens on that chain. It is not the native coin of any blockchain. Network fees on Solana are paid in SOL, so you need a small SOL balance to move JTO between wallets or to interact with apps.

Holding JTO generally works like holding any Solana token. You keep it in a Solana-compatible wallet, either a software wallet on a phone or browser or a hardware wallet that supports Solana. You can trade it on centralised exchanges that list it, or swap it on Solana decentralised exchanges through a wallet connection. Liquidity and trading pairs differ from venue to venue, so spreads and fees can vary.

To take part in governance, you would usually connect a wallet to the Jito governance interface and follow its process for voting. Exact steps, any lock-up requirements and delegation options are set by the project, so read the current instructions on the official site. Always confirm the token's contract address from an official source before swapping, because fake tokens with the same name are common on Solana.

History and notable events

JTO launched in December 2023 through one of the larger community airdrops on Solana, according to public coverage from the time. Jito's users and participants in its ecosystem received tokens, and the airdrop drew a lot of attention. The token reached an all-time high of about $6.01 on 2023-12-07, around the launch.

Prices have fallen a long way since. As of 2026-11-05 the token traded near $0.35, down about 52 percent over one year and about 11 percent over the previous seven days. Its all-time low of about $0.218 was recorded on 2026-02-05, so the current price sits above that low but far below the launch peak.

The project's data lists JTO in the portfolios of several well-known crypto investors, including Multicoin Capital, Alameda Research and Delphi Ventures. Being in an investor's portfolio does not say anything about future performance. Jito's staking product, JitoSOL, remains one of the larger liquid staking options on Solana, and on our site the Jito Liquid Staking project scores 8 out of 10.

Risks to understand

JTO carries the usual risks of a small-cap crypto token. Its price has been volatile, with a large drop from its launch peak, and it can move sharply in either direction over short periods. Anyone holding it should be ready to lose all of the money they put in.

There are also risks specific to the project. Jito's value depends heavily on Solana activity and on MEV revenue, which can fall when markets are quiet or when rules and validator behaviour change. Smart contract bugs in staking and governance code are always possible, even with audits. Governance can be influenced by large holders, and decisions made by vote may not suit every holder.

Supply is another factor. Because only about 54 percent of the total supply was circulating at the time of writing, future token unlocks could add selling pressure. JitoSOL adds its own risks, including smart contract risk and the chance that it trades slightly away from the value of SOL.

This page is general information, not financial advice, and it makes no prediction about price. Do your own research before deciding anything.

How to store JTO safely

Because JTO lives on Solana, storing it safely mostly means protecting your wallet. For anything beyond a small amount, a hardware wallet that supports Solana keeps your private keys offline and is a sensible choice. Write your recovery phrase on paper or metal, store it somewhere secure and never type it into a website, share it in a chat or save it in cloud storage.

Keeping tokens on an exchange is convenient but means you rely on the exchange for custody. If you plan to vote in governance, you will need a wallet you control, so consider moving the tokens off the exchange.

Be careful with scams. Fake airdrop claims, copycat tokens and phishing sites targeting Solana users are common, especially around anything related to Jito. Check the contract address using official sources, bookmark the official site instead of following links in messages, and review the permissions you approve when connecting a wallet. Consider using a separate wallet for experimenting with new apps and keeping long-term holdings in a different one. Keep a little SOL available for transaction fees.

By the numbers

Jito in numbers

Jito (JTO) is ranked #175 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $185M and a price of $0.3428 as of Nov 7, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $343M, so roughly 54% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.

The price was down 10.3% over 7 days, down 39.7% over 30 days, down 55.5% over the past year. It trades about 94% below its all-time high of $6.01, set on Dec 7, 2023.

About 541.09M JTO are in circulation, from a total supply of 1B. No hard maximum supply is listed.

24-hour trading volume was about $16.1M, or 8.7% of its market cap: high turnover.

JTO has token contracts on Solana. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

JTO is linked to Jito Liquid Staking, which we cover in our Staking rankings. See our Jito Liquid Staking page for how the protocol works and how we score it.
