What Fluid (FLUID) is

Fluid (FLUID) is the token tied to Fluid, a DeFi protocol built by the Instadapp team. Fluid combines a lending market and a decentralized exchange on top of one shared liquidity layer. Instead of keeping lending pools and trading pools separate, the design lets the same capital serve several purposes.

The protocol's documentation describes fTokens, which are receipt tokens users get when they supply assets to the lending side. Public write-ups also describe features called Smart Collateral and Smart Debt. These let collateral and borrowed positions take part in exchange liquidity, so deposits can earn from more than one source.

FLUID itself is not the thing you lend or borrow. It is the protocol's own token, mainly associated with governance and with the protocol's economics. At the time of writing it ranks around 154th by market capitalization, and it is classed as a DeFi token. On our site the issuing project is listed as Fluid Lending, which scores 7.5 out of 10 in the lending category.

What the token is used for

Public descriptions of FLUID call it a utility and governance token. The governance part is easy to see in practice: the protocol's governance forum carries proposals on things like launching new vaults, upgrading existing ones, and adjusting how vaults connect to the liquidity layer. Holders of the token take part in votes on these changes.

The utility side is described more loosely in public sources, with references to fees and protocol-level incentives. The exact mechanics can change through governance, so check the official documentation and recent proposals instead of relying on a summary like this one.

It is worth separating the token from the protocol's products. You can use Fluid's lending vaults and swap features without holding FLUID. Owning the token mainly gives you a say in how the system is run and exposure to whatever value the community decides the token should capture. Some marketing pieces online make bolder claims about the token, including AI-related ones. Treat those cautiously unless the project's own documentation backs them up.

Supply and tokenomics

The total and maximum supply of FLUID is 100 million tokens. At the time of writing, about 83.7 million are circulating, which is roughly 84 percent of the cap. The remainder is not yet in circulation, so some future supply could still reach the market.

As of 2026-11-05, the price was about $2.69. That implies a market capitalization of about $225.2 million and a fully diluted valuation of about $269.1 million. Reported trading volume over 24 hours was about $21.1 million. The price had risen about 27 percent over the previous seven days but was down about 25 percent over one year.

The all-time high on record is about $24.40 from 16 June 2021, and the all-time low is about $0.37 from 28 December 2022. Those early figures come from the token's earlier life under a different name, covered below.

the public information available to us do not give a detailed breakdown of allocations, vesting schedules or emissions. Anyone assessing the token should read the project's official tokenomics and governance records rather than assume a distribution.

Chains, holding and trading

FLUID is issued on several networks: Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, Polygon, Plasma and Solana. It is not the native coin of any blockchain, so you need the network's own gas token, such as ETH on Ethereum, Arbitrum and Base, to move it around.

In general terms, people hold FLUID in a self-custody wallet or on an exchange that lists it. It also trades on decentralized exchanges on the networks above, where you connect a wallet and swap against another token. Liquidity and fees differ from chain to chain, so the same token can trade at slightly different prices in different places.

Because the token exists on multiple chains, the contract address matters. Copies, bridged versions and impostor tokens with the same name are a known problem across crypto. Always take the contract address from the project's official documentation, and confirm that your wallet is set to the correct network before you send anything. Sending tokens to an address on the wrong chain can make them hard or impossible to recover.

History and notable events

FLUID carries the price history of Instadapp's earlier governance token, INST, which was renamed as the team put its focus on the Fluid protocol. That explains why the data shows a peak in mid-2021 and a low at the end of 2022, well before the Fluid branding.

Instadapp began as a tool for managing DeFi positions across protocols from one interface, and Fluid is the team's own lending and exchange protocol that grew out of that work. Its documentation covers a liquidity layer, lending vaults and a DEX, and governance discussions show continued additions such as new vault pairs and a newer DEX version.

The token's investor and listing profile includes tags for Coinbase Ventures and Pantera Capital portfolios, which indicates backing from established crypto funds. Beyond that, we have not confirmed specific dates for the token's relaunch or for individual chain deployments, so we leave them out rather than guess.

Risks to understand

FLUID is a mid-sized token, and its price can move sharply. A rise of more than 25 percent in a week, followed by a year that is still negative, shows how uneven performance can be. Nothing on this page is a prediction or a recommendation to buy or sell.

Protocol risk is the larger concern. Fluid relies on smart contracts, price oracles and collateral rules, and any of these could contain bugs or fail under stress. Designs that reuse the same liquidity for lending and trading can also create more complicated chains of dependency than simple lending pools, which makes risk harder for ordinary users to judge.

Governance risk matters too. Changes to vaults and parameters are decided by token-holder votes, and large holders can have outsized influence. About 16 percent of the maximum supply was not circulating at the time of writing, so future unlocks could add selling pressure.

Finally, there are scams. Fake FLUID tokens, phishing sites and copycat apps are common around any listed DeFi token.

How to store FLUID safely

For long-term holding, a hardware wallet is generally the safer option compared with leaving tokens on an exchange. Keep your recovery phrase offline, never type it into a website, and never share it, since no legitimate support team will ask for it.

Before interacting with Fluid, make sure you reach the app through a bookmark you created from the official source. Check the token contract address against the project's documentation. If you are using the protocol's vaults, start with an amount you can afford to lose while you learn how positions and liquidation work.

Permission management also helps. When you approve a contract to spend your tokens, that approval can stay active. Review and revoke old approvals periodically with a reputable approvals tool. Consider using a separate wallet for DeFi experiments so that your main holdings are not exposed to a malicious contract.

If you hold FLUID on a chain such as Solana, use a wallet that supports that chain natively instead of assuming one wallet handles everything.

By the numbers

Fluid in numbers

Fluid (FLUID) is ranked #166 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $200M and a price of $2.39 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $239M, so roughly 84% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.

The price was up 29.3% over 7 days, up 28.7% over 30 days, down 33.8% over the past year. It trades about 90% below its all-time high of $24.40, set on Jun 16, 2021.

About 83.7M FLUID are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 100M (84% issued).

24-hour trading volume was about $12.0M, or 6.0% of its market cap: moderate turnover.

FLUID has token contracts on 6 chains we track, including Ethereum, Arbitrum, Plasma, Base. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

FLUID is linked to Fluid Lending, which we cover in our Lending rankings. See our Fluid Lending page for how the protocol works and how we score it.
