What Geodnet and GEOD are

Geodnet is a decentralized network of GNSS base stations. GNSS stands for Global Navigation Satellite System, the family of satellite constellations that includes GPS. A standard phone or receiver gets position fixes accurate to a few meters. Base stations that sit at known, fixed locations can measure the errors in the satellite signals and send out corrections, which can bring accuracy down to the centimeter level. This technique is commonly called RTK, or real-time kinematic positioning.

The project's own description also stresses space weather: the stations observe how solar activity affects satellite signals, and that data feeds into the corrections. It can also improve timing accuracy.

GEOD is the network's native utility token. Rather than a company owning every station, independent hosts set up hardware and are rewarded in GEOD. The corrected data is then sold to customers such as drone operators, robotics firms, surveyors and farm equipment makers. On this site Geodnet is listed as infrastructure, and the token is also tagged under DePIN (decentralized physical infrastructure), gaming and play-to-earn. Those gaming tags come from market data categories, and the core product is positioning data rather than a game.

What the token is used for

Public sources say GEOD is used in a few ways. Its main role is as a reward: station hosts earn tokens when their equipment delivers useful satellite signal data to the network. The token is also described as being used for network fees, for governance votes on network proposals, and in connection with blockchain-based proofs of location.

The design is meant to link real-world demand to the token. Customers pay for positioning data, and the network's tokenomics tie those payments to the token economy. The precise mechanics, such as how fees are converted or whether any tokens are removed from circulation, have been adjusted over time through community improvement proposals, so check the current documentation rather than relying on a summary.

It is worth separating the utility story from market behavior. A token can have a clear purpose and still trade on speculation, so usage of the network and the token's price do not always move together.

Supply and tokenomics

The maximum supply of GEOD is 1 billion tokens. As of 2026-11-05, about 745.7 million were circulating and about 928.2 million had been issued in total, according to market data. That leaves roughly 72 million tokens not yet created, assuming the cap holds.

At the same date, the price was about $0.234, giving a market capitalization of about $174.5 million. The fully diluted valuation, which assumes all 1 billion tokens exist, was about $217.2 million. Twenty-four-hour trading volume was about $1.4 million, and the token ranked around 187th by market cap.

The all-time high was about $0.374 in January 2025, and the all-time low was about $0.034 in September 2023. Over the previous seven days the price had fallen by about 6.7%, while over one year it was up by about 96%. These figures change constantly and are not a forecast.

Because part of the supply is still to be released, future issuance, including rewards to station hosts, can add to circulating supply over time. Vesting and reward schedules are set out in the project's own materials.

Chains and how it is held and traded

GEOD has been issued on Polygon and on Solana. It is not the native coin of its own layer-1 blockchain, so it relies on those networks for transfers and security. Polygon was the original home, and a Solana version is also listed in market data.

In general terms, GEOD can be bought and sold on centralized exchanges and on decentralized exchanges on the chains where it exists. Which venues list it varies and changes, so check that a given platform supports the specific chain version you intend to use. Sending a token on the wrong network is a common cause of lost funds.

Holders can keep tokens in an exchange account or in a self-custody wallet compatible with Polygon or Solana. Station hosts receive rewards to a wallet address they control. Liquidity is moderate: daily volume is small relative to market cap, so larger orders may move the price noticeably.

History and notable events

Geodnet began as a project to build a crowdsourced alternative to traditional, centrally owned RTK correction networks. The token's price history shows a low in September 2023 and a peak in January 2025, with the rise reflecting broader interest in DePIN projects as well as the project's own growth. The data we have does not give an exact launch date, so none is stated here.

Market data lists the token in a Pantera Capital portfolio category, which suggests institutional backing, though readers should confirm investor details from the project's own disclosures. The token has also been tagged with robotics, reflecting its customer base.

The network has evolved through numbered improvement proposals written by the community and team, covering how rewards and fees work. This governance process means the rules are not fixed, and the details described in older articles may no longer apply.

Risks to consider

GEOD carries the usual risks of a small-cap crypto asset. Its price can swing sharply, as the gap between its all-time high and low shows, and trading volume is modest relative to its valuation.

There are project-specific risks too. Rewards depend on hosts continuing to run hardware, and demand depends on whether paying customers choose a decentralized provider over established competitors. Token emissions can dilute holders, and changes to reward rules come through governance proposals that holders may not agree with. Quality control is another challenge: a network of independent stations needs ways to verify that locations and data are genuine.

Other concerns are smart contract risk, bridge risk if moving between Polygon and Solana, and the chance of scam tokens with copied names. Confirm contract addresses from official project sources before buying. Nothing here is investment advice.

How to store GEOD safely

For small amounts, an exchange account is convenient but you rely on the platform. For longer-term holding, many people prefer self-custody with a reputable wallet that supports the chain where their GEOD sits, either Polygon or Solana. A hardware wallet adds protection if it supports that network.

Write down your recovery phrase offline and never share it or type it into a website. Send a small test transaction before moving a large amount, and double-check the network selected before confirming. Verify the token contract address against official project channels, since fake tokens with the same name exist.

Be wary of unsolicited messages offering rewards, airdrops or support, and revoke token approvals you no longer need on decentralized apps. Keep wallet software updated, and consider keeping a separate wallet for experimenting with new dApps.

By the numbers

Geodnet in numbers

Geodnet (GEOD) is ranked #186 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $169M and a price of $0.2268 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $211M, so roughly 80% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.

The price was down 6.0% over 7 days, down 27.2% over 30 days, up 75.8% over the past year. It trades about 39% below its all-time high of $0.3743, set on Jan 25, 2025.

About 745.6M GEOD are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 1B (75% issued).

24-hour trading volume was about $1.54M, or 0.9% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.

GEOD has token contracts on 2 chains we track, including Polygon, Solana. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

GEOD is linked to Geodnet, which we cover in our Infrastructure rankings. See our Geodnet page for how the protocol works and how we score it.
