What Folks Finance and the FOLKS token are
Folks Finance is a cross-chain decentralized finance protocol. It lets users supply assets to earn yield and borrow against collateral across several blockchains from one platform. FOLKS is the protocol's native token.
The project began on Algorand, where its permissionless lending markets run, and its xChain app extends that model to other networks. According to the project's description, it uses interoperability tools such as Chainlink CCIP, Circle CCTP and Wormhole messaging. The aim is to avoid wrapping assets, bridging them by hand or splitting liquidity into separate pools. Users can access unified pools and post collateral natively on different ecosystems.
The design is aimed at both retail users and institutions, with an emphasis on efficiency, security and accessibility.
FOLKS is not the native coin of any single chain. It is issued on many networks at once, so it is better thought of as a protocol token than as a gas token. That distinction matters because it ties the token's fortunes to the usage and health of the Folks Finance product rather than to the fees of one blockchain. At the time of writing, it ranks around 474th by market capitalization.
What FOLKS is used for
Project documentation describes FOLKS as the native asset of the Folks Finance protocol, powering perks, utilities and governance. That is the extent of what is clearly stated in the sources we reviewed, so the details are best confirmed in the official docs.
In general terms, governance tokens of this kind let holders take part in decisions about protocol parameters, such as which assets are supported or how markets are configured. Utility and perks usually mean benefits tied to using the platform. We do not have a verified list of the specific perks, fee mechanics or revenue-sharing rules, so we will not guess at them.
If you are evaluating the token, read the tokenomics page in the xChain app documentation and check whether any stated benefit requires locking or staking tokens. Also check whether a benefit is live or only planned. Features described as upcoming can change or be delayed, and a token's stated purpose does not by itself guarantee demand for it.
Supply and tokenomics
The total supply of FOLKS is fixed at 50,000,000 tokens, and the maximum supply is the same figure. As of 2026-11-05, about 18.37 million tokens were counted as circulating, which is roughly 37% of the total.
That gap shapes the valuation picture. At about $2.48 per token, the market capitalization was around $45.6 million, while the fully diluted valuation, which assumes all 50 million tokens at the same price, was around $124.0 million. The difference is the value of tokens not yet in circulation.
We do not have a verified breakdown of allocations, such as team, investors, community or treasury, nor a vesting schedule, so we cannot say when the remaining tokens might reach the market. The official tokenomics page is the right place to check this. As a general point, scheduled releases of locked tokens can add selling pressure, and readers should compare circulating supply with the fixed total when judging how much of the supply is still to come.
Trading volume over 24 hours was about $1.3 million at the time of writing, which is modest relative to market cap.
Chains and how FOLKS is held and traded
FOLKS is issued on a wide set of networks: Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, Avalanche, Polygon, BNB Chain, Sei, Monad and Algorand. The documentation says it uses the NTT standard, which is designed to let a token be native on several chains rather than a wrapped copy of a token from one home chain.
For holders, this means you should always confirm which network your tokens are on before sending them. The same ticker exists on many chains, and a transfer to the wrong network or address can be hard or impossible to recover.
The token is traded on centralized exchanges and on decentralized exchanges in the ecosystems where it is issued, though availability differs by venue and region. Some listings come with their own eligibility rules, and you should follow the terms of any platform you use, including identity checks where they apply.
Liquidity can be thin compared with larger tokens. With daily volume in the low millions of dollars, larger orders may move the price, and spreads can be wider than on major assets.
History and notable events
Folks Finance has been building lending products on Algorand for some time, and the xChain app extended its markets across other chains. The launch date for the token itself is not given in our data. Coverage from early November 2025 describes the FOLKS token's market debut and its cross-chain design.
Price history since then has been volatile. The all-time high was about $48.86 on 2025-12-13. The all-time low was about $0.84 on 2026-04-06. As of 2026-11-05, the price of around $2.48 sat roughly 95% below that peak, and had gained about 1.7% over the previous seven days. A one-year change figure is not available.
These numbers show how quickly a newly traded token can move through its early period. They are historical facts, not a forecast, and they say nothing about where the price goes next.
On our site, the related project Folks Finance Lending is listed in the lending category and scored 7.4 out of 10. That score reflects our assessment of the project and is not an assessment of the token as an investment.
Risks to understand
FOLKS carries the usual risks of a small-cap DeFi token, plus some specific to its design.
Smart contract risk. Lending protocols hold user funds in code. Bugs, exploits or faulty parameters can cause losses even when the code has been reviewed.
Cross-chain risk. Moving value and messages between networks depends on several external systems. A failure in any messaging or token-transfer layer could affect users on multiple chains at once.
Lending-specific risk. Borrowers can be liquidated if collateral falls in value, and sharp market moves or oracle problems can cause bad debt or unexpected liquidations.
Market risk. The token has fallen very far from its all-time high, volume is limited, and only about 37% of the fixed supply was circulating as of 2026-11-05. Future unlocks could add supply. Thin liquidity can make exits costly.
Information risk. Allocation and vesting details were not confirmed in our data, and governance rights and perks can change.
Nothing here is investment advice. Only commit money you can afford to lose, and read the official documentation first.
How to store FOLKS safely
Because FOLKS exists on many chains, safe storage starts with knowing which network your tokens are on. Use a wallet that supports that network, and confirm the token's contract address from the project's official documentation rather than from a search result or a message from a stranger.
For larger amounts, a hardware wallet keeps private keys offline and adds a physical confirmation step to each transaction. Write your recovery phrase on paper or metal, store it somewhere private, and never type it into a website or share it with anyone, including anyone claiming to be support staff.
Before sending a large transfer, send a small test amount first. Check that the receiving address and the network match. Be careful with token approvals when you connect to decentralized apps, and revoke permissions you no longer need.
If you leave tokens on an exchange, you rely on that company to hold them, so consider its security record and withdrawal terms. Expect imitation tokens and phishing sites around any popular project, and double-check every link you open.
By the numbers
FOLKS in numbers
FOLKS (FOLKS) is ranked #481 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $43.7M and a price of $2.38 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $119M, so roughly 37% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.
The price was up 2.7% over 7 days, down 0.2% over 30 days. It trades about 95% below its all-time high of $48.86, set on Dec 13, 2025.
About 18.37M FOLKS are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 50M (37% issued).
24-hour trading volume was about $663K, or 1.5% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.
FOLKS has token contracts on 9 chains we track, including Avalanche, Arbitrum, Base, Ethereum. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.
FOLKS is linked to Folks Finance Lending, which we cover in our Lending rankings. See our Folks Finance Lending page for how the protocol works and how we score it.
