Our verdict on SushiSwap V3

7.0/10

SushiSwap V3 suits DeFi users who want a familiar Uniswap V3-style DEX across many chains, plus an aggregator and position tools in one interface. Its main strength is breadth: more than 30 networks and about $41.5M in TVL. The main caveat is that DefiLlama lists no audits and public sources give no fee details, so check audit history and the on-screen costs first. Liquidity providers should also understand impermanent loss before adding capital.

What is SushiSwap V3?

SushiSwap V3 is Sushi's concentrated-liquidity DEX. DefiLlama describes it as a Uniswap V3 fork and has tracked it since April 2023. It currently shows about $41.5M in TVL, up about 0.3% over seven days.

The main draw is reach. DefiLlama lists more than 30 chains, from Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base and Optimism to smaller networks like Katana, Hemi, Rootstock and Filecoin. The Sushi homepage frames the product as a multi-chain swap with an aggregator, a cross-chain mode, and links to Perps, Launchpad, Positions and Stake.

The SUSHI token is tied to the wider Sushi ecosystem. The project does not describe its utility in detail, so this review does not assume any. The main gap is security: DefiLlama lists no audits for this entry. Volume data from a Google snippet suggests modest trading on the Ethereum deployment.

How SushiSwap V3 works

SushiSwap V3 is an automated market maker. Instead of an order book, traders swap against liquidity pools that liquidity providers fund. Prices come from the pool's formula and move as trades change the balance of the two tokens.

V3 uses concentrated liquidity. A liquidity provider picks a price range, and capital is used only while the market price is inside it. This can give deeper liquidity near the current price with less capital. If the price leaves the range, the position stops earning fees until the price returns or the provider adjusts it.

The Sushi interface also acts as an aggregator that routes trades for the best rate, with a routing source shown in the swap panel. Users keep custody through their own wallet and sign each transaction.

7 features

Key features

01

Concentrated liquidity pools

Liquidity providers pick a price range for their capital, as in Uniswap V3, which can improve capital efficiency.

02

Wide multi-chain reach

DefiLlama lists over 30 networks, including Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Polygon, Optimism and Katana.

03

Swap aggregator

The homepage describes an aggregator that looks for the best rates across DeFi, and shows a routing source.

04

Cross-chain swap mode

The swap interface has Swap, Advanced and Cross-Chain modes.

05

Slippage and price controls

The swap panel shows price impact, minimum received, fee and network fee. It also explains how tax tokens affect slippage.

06

Position management

The interface includes a Positions page and an Explore page for managing and finding pools and liquidity positions.

07

Wider Sushi product suite

The site menu includes Perps, Launchpad and Stake, and a search result mentions incentivizing pools.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Available on more than 30 chains, including major Ethereum layer 2s.
  • Concentrated liquidity can make liquidity providers' capital more efficient.
  • The interface combines swaps, an aggregator, cross-chain mode and position management.
  • Non-custodial: users trade from their own wallet.
  • Around $41.5M in TVL and a listing history since April 2023.
  • The swap panel shows price impact, minimum received, fee and network fee up front.

Watch out for

  • DefiLlama lists no audits for this protocol entry, so readers must check audit history themselves.
  • Concentrated liquidity needs active management, and liquidity providers can lose money to impermanent loss.
  • Fee tiers and network fees are not published publicly, so costs are unclear before connecting a wallet.
  • Liquidity is spread over 30+ chains, and many of them are small, so depth on some pairs may be thin.
  • Volume looks modest: one Google snippet cites about $1.1M in 24-hour volume on the Ethereum deployment, down 46.7% on the day.
  • Tax or fee-on-transfer tokens need higher slippage, which raises the risk of poor fills.

SushiSwap V3 fees

Fee details are not published. Concentrated liquidity DEXs of this type usually charge a swap fee that goes mainly to liquidity providers, but the exact tiers on Sushi are not stated here.

Before confirming a swap, the interface shows fee, price impact and network fee lines. Gas costs depend on the chain you use. For tax tokens, the slippage you set includes the token's tax.

Is SushiSwap V3 safe?

DefiLlama lists zero audits for this entry, and the project does not describe audit history, a bug bounty or past incidents. Because the contracts are a fork of Uniswap V3 code, the design is widely known, but that does not remove smart-contract risk, especially on smaller chains. Look up Sushi's published audits and the public code repositories before committing larger sums.

Trading is non-custodial, so wallet security and approvals are your responsibility. Liquidity providers face impermanent loss and out-of-range positions. Tax tokens and low-liquidity pairs can lead to poor execution if slippage is set loosely. Regulatory status is not covered publicly.

6 steps

How to get started with SushiSwap V3

  1. 1

Check that DeFi trading is legal where you live and understand the risks of using a non-custodial wallet.

  2. 2

Open the official Sushi site and connect a compatible wallet.

  3. 3

Select the network you want to use, such as Ethereum or Base, and make sure you hold the network's gas token.

  4. 4

Choose the tokens to sell and buy, then review price impact, fee, minimum received and routing source.

  5. 5

Set slippage carefully, especially for tax tokens, then confirm the swap in your wallet.

  6. 6

To provide liquidity, open the Positions page, choose a V3 pool and pick a price range. Start small until you understand impermanent loss and range management.

Who SushiSwap V3 is for

This is aimed at DeFi users who swap on several chains and at liquidity providers comfortable with setting price ranges. It is less suitable for beginners who want fixed, simple returns or who do not want to manage wallets and gas themselves.

SushiSwap V3 FAQs

What is SushiSwap V3?

SushiSwap V3 is a decentralized exchange that uses concentrated liquidity pools. DefiLlama describes it as a Uniswap V3 fork. It is run through the Sushi interface, which also offers an aggregator, cross-chain swaps and other products.

Which chains does SushiSwap V3 support?

DefiLlama lists Ethereum, Katana, Base, Arbitrum, Polygon, Optimism, BNB Chain, Avalanche, Scroll, Linea, Sonic, Blast and many others. The homepage says it supports over 30 chains.

What is concentrated liquidity on SushiSwap V3?

Concentrated liquidity lets liquidity providers place capital within a chosen price range instead of across all prices. This can make the capital work harder and improve trading depth near the current price. The trade-off is that positions need more attention and can be out of range.

Has SushiSwap V3 been audited?

Public sources list SUSHI as the token. DefiLlama shows no audits for this entry, so check Sushi's own documentation and the public code repositories for security reviews before using large amounts.

What does it cost to trade?

The project does not list fee tiers. The swap panel shows price impact, a fee line and a network fee before you confirm, so check those figures for the pair you choose.

Do I need an account to use it?

You connect a self-custody wallet and sign transactions yourself. Sushi does not hold your funds in a trade, but smart-contract risk still applies.
