SushiSwap Review 2026: Multichain DEX and Swap Aggregator

SushiSwap is a long-running multichain decentralized exchange that pairs a swap interface with an aggregator for routing across many networks. It suits users who want broad chain coverage, but liquidity and fee details vary by chain.

Good

Our verdict on SushiSwap

7.4/10

SushiSwap suits DeFi users who want one interface for swaps, cross-chain trades and liquidity across many networks. Its main strength is breadth: aggregation, perps, staking and a launchpad on dozens of chains. The main caveat is that liquidity depth and fees differ by chain, and the swap page does not state fee percentages, so check each quote and use only the official address.

What is SushiSwap?

SushiSwap is a decentralized exchange that started on Ethereum as a community-driven fork of Uniswap's automated market maker. It has since grown into a multichain platform covering more than 30 chains by the project's own count, and over 40 in its tracked description.

The current site centres on a swap interface with advanced and cross-chain modes, plus sections for perpetuals, a launchpad, liquidity positions and staking. The protocol shows roughly $37 million in total value locked, with a flat 7-day change of about 0.1%.

SUSHI is its native token, and three audits are listed in the tracked data. The project does not publish team names or fee tiers on the swap page itself.

How SushiSwap works

SushiSwap is an automated market maker. Instead of an order book, traders swap against liquidity pools. Liquidity providers deposit pairs of tokens and earn a share of the fees on trades through that pool.

Sushi also runs an aggregation stack. When you request a swap, it looks for the best route, which can use Sushi pools or other sources, and the interface shows the routing source. Cross-chain mode lets a swap span two networks.

Everything is non-custodial. You connect a wallet, approve tokens and sign each transaction. The operator behind the site is Sushi Labs, per its cookie notice, while the broader project describes itself as a decentralized organization.

8 features

Key features

01

Swap with route details

The swap box shows price impact, minimum received, fee, network fee and routing source before you confirm a trade.

02

Aggregation stack

A powerful aggregator searches for the best rates across DeFi rather than only Sushi's own pools.

03

Cross-chain swaps

Advanced and cross-chain swap modes sit alongside the basic swap, so you can move value between networks from one interface.

04

Wide chain coverage

The project describes itself as the most multi-chain DEX, with listings across 40+ chains in the tracked data.

05

Liquidity and staking

Positions and Stake sections let users provide liquidity and stake SUSHI.

06

Perps

The navigation includes a perpetuals section for leveraged trading.

07

Launchpad

A launchpad section is part of the product menu for new token launches.

08

Tax token slippage guidance

The swap warns that for tax tokens the slippage setting must include the token's tax, for example 0.5% plus 5% tax equals 5.5%.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Supports a very wide range of chains from one interface.
  • Aggregator routing aims for better rates than a single pool.
  • Non-custodial: no account or deposit with the operator is needed.
  • Offers swaps, perps, liquidity, staking and a launchpad in one place.
  • Swap panel shows price impact, fees and routing before you sign.
  • Long operating history since its early DeFi days, with three audits listed.

Watch out for

  • Many chains means uneven liquidity; smaller networks may have thin pools and worse prices.
  • Smart-contract risk applies to swaps and liquidity positions, even with listed audits.
  • Liquidity providers face impermanent loss when token prices diverge.
  • Scam sites imitate the Sushi name, so users must verify the address before connecting a wallet.
  • Fee levels, team details and audit reports are not laid out on the swap page itself.
  • TVL is modest next to the largest DEXs, which can limit depth on some pairs.

SushiSwap fees

Sushi's swap panel has a Fee line, a Network fee line, price impact and min/max received. The page text does not state a percentage, so the live quote on each trade is the place to check it.

On top of any protocol fee, you pay gas on the chain you use, in that chain's native token. Gas costs vary widely between networks like Ethereum and Layer 2s. Liquidity providers earn a share of trading fees, but the rate for a given pool is shown on the pool page.

Is SushiSwap safe?

Sushi is non-custodial, so you keep your keys, but you accept smart-contract risk each time you approve or swap. Three audits are listed for the protocol. Audits reduce risk but do not remove it, and new products such as perps or the launchpad may carry their own risks.

The project does not publish a regulatory licence on the swap page. Cookie notices name Sushi Labs as the data processor. Several lookalike sites use the Sushi name, including no-KYC swap services and site-builder pages, so confirm the official address and never share a seed phrase. Check that DeFi trading is permitted where you live.

7 steps

How to get started with SushiSwap

  1. 1

Open the official Sushi site by typing the address yourself or using a trusted bookmark.

  2. 2

Read the cookie notice and choose your preferences.

  3. 3

Connect a self-custody wallet and select the network you want, such as Ethereum.

  4. 4

Pick the token to sell and the token to buy, then enter an amount.

  5. 5

Check price impact, minimum received, fee and network fee, and adjust slippage if needed.

  6. 6

Confirm the approval and swap in your wallet.

  7. 7

Verify the result in your wallet or a block explorer.

Who SushiSwap is for

SushiSwap suits DeFi users who trade on several networks, want routing across liquidity sources, or provide liquidity and stake SUSHI. It is less suited to complete beginners who have no wallet or who do not yet understand slippage, approvals and gas.

SushiSwap FAQs

What is SushiSwap?

SushiSwap is a decentralized exchange that began on Ethereum and now runs on dozens of chains. Users connect a wallet and swap tokens directly from it, without creating an account. It also offers perpetuals, a launchpad, liquidity positions and staking.

Does SushiSwap require KYC?

The site does not publish a KYC step on its swap page. You connect a self-custody wallet and trade on-chain. Local rules still apply, and the operator, Sushi Labs, collects some data through cookies as its notice describes.

What is the SUSHI token?

Its token is SUSHI. It is used in the Sushi ecosystem, including staking. The details of staking rewards and governance rights are best checked on the Stake section of the official site.

What fees does SushiSwap charge?

The swap interface lists a fee line, a network fee and the routing source before you confirm. The exact percentage is not stated on the page text, so check the quote for each trade. Network gas is paid in the chain's native token.

Is SushiSwap safe?

No DEX is risk-free. Three audits are listed for the protocol, which helps, but bugs, bad token contracts and phishing sites remain real risks. Use only the official address, review approvals and avoid tokens you cannot verify.

Which networks does SushiSwap support?

It lists support for 30 to 40+ chains, depending on the source, including Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, Polygon, BNB Chain, Avalanche, Optimism and Linea. Availability of specific pairs depends on the liquidity on each chain.
