ActiveAvalon USDa Review 2026: BTC-Backed Stablecoin and Fixed-Rate Loans
Avalon USDa is a Bitcoin-collateralized stablecoin issued through Avalon Labs' CeDeFi lending platform, listed on DefiLlama as a CDP product. It suits Bitcoin holders who want to borrow without selling, but the headline lending figures are self-reported and the audit and custody claims need independent checking.

Our verdict on Avalon USDa
5.1/10Avalon USDa suits Bitcoin holders who want to borrow a dollar-pegged token without selling their BTC, and who are comfortable with a six-month fixed term. Its main strength is the stated flat 7% rate and a named set of audit firms with custody claims. The main caveat is that the headline figures, including $3.1B loaned and 300,000 users, come from the project's own homepage, DefiLlama shows very little locked value, and the fee schedule is not published publicly. Verify the audits and custody terms before borrowing.

What is Avalon USDa?
Avalon USDa is the stablecoin product of Avalon Labs, a company that describes itself as an on-chain capital market for Bitcoin. DefiLlama classifies USDa as a CDP, or collateralized debt position, product tied to Avalon's CeDeFi lending platform. Avalon Labs has been reported as the issuer of USDa, a Bitcoin-collateralized stablecoin, in a Plume partner profile from August 2025.
The homepage presents Avalon as a lender for Bitcoin holders. It advertises a six-month fixed-term loan at a flat 7% annual rate, a Super Earn product with a 15% target APY, and more than 50 isolated Bitcoin markets. It also claims $3.1B in total capital loaned, more than 300,000 users and $14.8M in interest distributed. These are the project's own figures and the project does not provide an independent source for them.
The project raised a $10 million Series A, reported by Yahoo Finance in December 2024. It has an AVL token that DefiLlama lists, and a third-party listing describes an AVL airdrop. Older listings describe the protocol as built on Merlin Chain, while DefiLlama now lists USDa across Ethereum, BNB Chain, Mantle, Sonic, Berachain and Kaia.
How Avalon USDa works
Avalon USDa works like other collateralized debt positions. A user deposits Bitcoin or a Bitcoin-linked asset such as FBTC into a lending market, and the protocol lets them borrow USDa up to a set loan-to-value ratio. The collateral stays locked while the loan is open, and the borrower repays the USDa to get it back.
The homepage describes the loans as fixed-rate, currently quoting a flat 7% annual rate on a six-month term. A fixed rate means the borrower's interest cost does not float with market rates during the term, which is different from the variable rates common on many lending apps.
The homepage also describes a live loan-to-value display and proactive safeguards meant to flag risk before liquidation. Liquidation is the process where collateral is sold to repay a loan when its value falls too far, so the loan-to-value figure is the main number to watch.

Key features
01
Bitcoin-backed borrowing
Borrow USDa against Bitcoin or FBTC collateral, with the homepage showing a live loan-to-value readout and a six-month fixed-term option.
02
Isolated lending markets
The homepage lists more than 50 isolated Bitcoin markets across several public chains, so risk is separated between markets rather than pooled.
03
Super Earn yield products
Super Earn is presented as a way to earn on Bitcoin holdings, with a 15% target APY shown on the homepage and some products marked as coming soon.
04
Looping strategies
Users can loop USDa against other assets such as sUSDe and PT tokens, according to a third-party write-up, which describes fixed-rate arbitrage strategies.
Pros and cons
What we like
- Offers a fixed, stated borrow rate on a six-month term, which is easier to budget for than a variable rate.
- Names four audit firms and says the reports are public on GitHub.
- Says collateral is held by independent custodians rather than the lender.
- Spans several chains, so users can choose a network that suits them.
- Has disclosed a funding round and a named issuer for USDa.
Watch out for
- DefiLlama lists no audits for the project, while the homepage names four audit firms, so the audit record is only partly verifiable from public sources.
- Custody depends on third-party custodians the project names but does not identify, so users rely on claims they cannot check directly.
- DefiLlama shows total value locked of about $3, far below the $3.1B loaned figure on the homepage, which makes the homepage numbers hard to reconcile.
- A 7% fixed borrow rate and a 15% Super Earn target APY are marketing figures, and the project does not explain the conditions behind them.
- Several products are labeled Coming Soon, and the stablecoin's peg and reserve arrangements are not described in detail.
Avalon USDa fees
The project does not publish a fee schedule for USDa borrowing, redemption or Super Earn. Users would typically see interest rates, any origination or liquidation costs, and network gas in the app and the project documentation, which the homepage links to but which the project does not reproduce. Check those terms before committing collateral.
Is Avalon USDa safe?
Safety depends on several claims that are hard to verify from public sources. The homepage names four audit firms and links to reports on GitHub, but DefiLlama lists no audits for the product, so readers should open the reports and check their scope and dates. The homepage also describes 24/7 monitoring and custody by third parties, but does not name the custodians.
Smart-contract risk is present in any CDP or lending product. A bug or an exploit could affect locked collateral or the USDa peg. Counterparty risk applies to the custodians and to the issuer's operations. The project does not describe any past incidents, hacks or peg failures, and that absence is not the same as a clean record.
Regulatory status is not stated publicly. Borrowing against crypto collateral is a financial activity, and rules differ by country. Users must be adults and should check whether such services are legal where they live. Only borrow what you can afford to have liquidated.
7 steps
How to get started with Avalon USDa
- 1
Read the project documentation and the terms for the six-month fixed-term loan and the 7% rate.
- 2
Check which chains USDa runs on and confirm your wallet supports that network.
- 3
Review the published audit reports on GitHub and note which contract versions they cover.
- 4
Confirm the custody arrangement and which third-party custodian holds your collateral.
- 5
Decide how much collateral to lock and calculate the liquidation price at your chosen loan-to-value ratio.
- 6
Connect the wallet through the Avalon app and borrow USDa in small amounts first.
- 7
Monitor the loan-to-value ratio and repayment date, and set your own alerts for changes in collateral value.
Who Avalon USDa is for
Avalon USDa is aimed at Bitcoin holders who want to borrow against their BTC rather than sell it, and at users comfortable with on-chain lending and collateral management. It is less suited to people who need a simple savings product or who cannot monitor a loan-to-value ratio and liquidation risk over a six-month term.
Avalon USDa FAQs
What is Avalon USDa?
USDa is a stablecoin issued by Avalon Labs and described as backed by Bitcoin collateral. Users deposit BTC or a BTC-linked asset such as FBTC and borrow USDa against it. Public sources describe it as a CDP product, meaning a collateralized debt position where the loan is secured by locked collateral.
What is the Avalon USDa borrow rate?
The homepage advertises a flat 7% annual fixed borrow rate on a six-month fixed-term loan. The project does not say whether that rate applies to every user, how it is set, or what fees sit on top of it, so check the current terms in the app before borrowing.
Has Avalon USDa been audited?
The homepage states that code was reviewed by Salus, SlowMist, BlockSec and Nethermind, with reports on GitHub. DefiLlama lists zero audits for the product. Read the reports yourself and confirm they cover the contracts you would use before relying on them.
Who holds the Bitcoin collateral?
The homepage says collateral is held by independent third-party custodians and that Avalon has no direct access to client assets. The project does not name those custodians, so this claim cannot be checked from public sources alone.
What are the main risks of using Avalon USDa?
Borrowing against crypto collateral can lead to liquidation if the collateral value falls, and a stablecoin can lose its peg. Borrowing is only for adults, and users should treat it as a financial product with real loss potential. Check whether crypto lending is legal where you live before using any platform.
