Our verdict on Silo V3
6.9/10Silo V3 suits DeFi users who want lending markets where risk is kept separate and who are willing to research each market before depositing. Its main strength is the isolated, permissionless design, available across seven chains with two listed audits. The main caveat is size and transparency: TVL is only about $4.3 million, and fees, team and audit details are not published on the app homepage. Treat it as a smart-contract-risk product and size positions accordingly.

What is Silo V3?
Silo V3 is the current version of Silo Finance, a decentralized lending protocol that creates permissionless and risk-isolated lending markets. Users can lend assets to earn interest or borrow against collateral, with each market kept separate from the rest.
The protocol is listed on seven networks: Ethereum, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Sonic, Injective, XDC and MegaETH. Total value locked is roughly $4.3 million, which is a small base for a lending protocol. Two audits are listed, and the project has its own token, SILO.
The app homepage shows only navigation for Explore, Earn, Borrow and Portfolio, so details such as fees, team and audit reports are not published there. The developer documentation covers subgraphs for V2 and V3 and links to a GitHub and a knowledge base.
How Silo V3 works
Silo is a lending protocol. Lenders deposit assets into a market and earn interest paid by borrowers. Borrowers post collateral and take a loan against it, and if the collateral value falls too far, the position can be liquidated to repay the debt.
The distinctive part is isolation. Instead of one large pool where every asset backs every loan, Silo uses separate markets. Risk stays inside the market where it arose, so a volatile or manipulated asset in one market should not drain deposits in another.
Markets are permissionless, meaning new ones can be created without a central gatekeeper. The project's developer materials describe programmable markets that can plug into other DeFi applications. The app itself is organised into Explore, Earn, Borrow and Portfolio sections.
6 features
Key features
01
Risk-isolated markets
Each market is separated from the others, which limits how far a failing asset can damage the wider protocol.
02
Permissionless market creation
Markets can be created without central approval, so a wide range of assets and pairings can be offered.
03
Earn and Borrow sections
The app is split into Explore, Earn, Borrow and Portfolio sections, covering discovery, lending, borrowing and position tracking.
04
Seven-chain support
The protocol is listed on Ethereum, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Sonic, Injective, XDC and MegaETH.
05
Developer documentation
Developer docs cover subgraphs for V2 and V3 entities, a bug submission route, a GitHub and a knowledge base called Silopedia.
06
Portfolio tracking
A Portfolio view lets users review their deposits and loans in one place.
Pros and cons
What we like
- Risk-isolated markets limit how much one bad asset can affect other depositors.
- Permissionless design allows a broad range of markets rather than a curated shortlist.
- Available on seven chains, including Ethereum, Arbitrum and Avalanche.
- Two audits are listed for the protocol.
- Public developer documentation, subgraphs and a GitHub are available.
- Simple app layout with clear Earn, Borrow and Portfolio sections.
Watch out for
- Total value locked is about $4.3 million, small for a lending protocol, so liquidity in some markets may be thin.
- Fee levels, interest-rate models and per-market parameters are not stated on the app homepage, so users must check each market.
- Isolated markets with custom parameters mean every market has its own risk and needs separate research.
- Smart-contract risk remains despite two listed audits, and audit scope and findings are not summarised on the homepage.
- Support spans seven chains, which makes it harder to track where liquidity and risk sit.
- The SILO token trades at a very low price, and the project does not publish token economics on its app homepage.
Silo V3 fees
Silo does not publish a fee schedule on its app homepage. Interest rates for lenders and borrowers are set per market and are shown within the app, so compare them before depositing or borrowing.
Beyond protocol rates, you pay network gas fees on whichever chain you use. These vary by chain and congestion. Any protocol or liquidation fees should be checked in the documentation before you open a position.
Is Silo V3 safe?
Silo is non-custodial lending, so funds sit in smart contracts rather than with a company. The main risks are smart-contract bugs, oracle problems, liquidation of leveraged positions and bad debt in a market. Isolation is meant to contain these risks to the affected market, but it does not eliminate them for depositors in that market.
Two audits are listed for the protocol. The app homepage does not give the auditors, scope or findings, so read the reports before depositing. No incident details are stated. Never lend or borrow more than you can afford to lose, and only use markets whose assets and settings you understand.
7 steps
How to get started with Silo V3
- 1
Check that DeFi lending is legal and suitable for you where you live, and read the documentation first.
- 2
Set up a self-custody wallet that works with your chosen network, such as Ethereum, Arbitrum or Avalanche.
- 3
Fund the wallet with the asset you want to lend or use as collateral, plus a little of the chain's gas token.
- 4
Open the Silo app and browse the Explore section to compare markets, their assets and rates.
- 5
Read each market's details, including collateral assets and risk settings, before committing funds.
- 6
Use Earn to deposit, or Borrow to post collateral and take a loan, keeping a safe buffer above liquidation levels.
- 7
Track positions in Portfolio and withdraw or repay as your plans change.
Who Silo V3 is for
Silo V3 is for experienced DeFi users who want to lend or borrow in separate markets and can judge collateral, oracle and liquidation risk themselves. It is less suited to beginners who want a single, simple savings rate or a protocol with deep liquidity.
Silo V3 FAQs
What is Silo V3?
Silo V3 is the third version of Silo Finance, a decentralized lending protocol. It offers permissionless lending markets that are isolated from one another, so a problem in one market is designed not to spread to others.
Which blockchains does Silo V3 support?
The protocol is listed on Ethereum, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Sonic, Injective, XDC and MegaETH. Not every market is available on every chain, so check the app for what is live on the network you use.
What does risk-isolated lending mean?
Isolation means each market is a separate pool with its own assets and risk settings. If a borrowed or collateral asset in one market fails, losses are meant to stay within that market rather than hit depositors elsewhere.
Is Silo V3 audited?
Two audits are listed for the protocol. An audit reduces the chance of bugs but does not remove it, and lending protocols can still lose funds through exploits, oracle failures or bad debt.
What are the fees on Silo V3?
The app homepage does not publish fees or rates. Lending and borrowing rates appear per market in the app, and you will also pay network gas fees on the chain you use.
Does Silo have a token?
SILO is the protocol's token. The app homepage does not set out its utility or tokenomics, so read the project's documentation before relying on it.
