Curve LlamaLend Review 2026: crvUSD Lending Explained

Curve LlamaLend is Curve's isolated lending market system, built around the crvUSD stablecoin and a soft-liquidation mechanism. It holds about $98.8M in TVL across four chains, but public sources list no audits.

Our verdict on Curve LlamaLend

7.0/10

Curve LlamaLend suits DeFi users who want to borrow against crypto collateral using crvUSD or lend into isolated markets, and who understand how soft liquidation changes their holdings. Its main strength is the gradual liquidation design and the scale shown by roughly $98.8M TVL. The main caveat is risk transparency: DefiLlama lists no audits, rates and parameters vary by market, and permissionless markets need careful checking before use.

What is Curve LlamaLend?

Curve LlamaLend is Curve's lending infrastructure. It lets users borrow or lend with the crvUSD stablecoin, and it supports permissionless markets for crypto-tokenized collateral.

DefiLlama lists it under Lending on Ethereum, Arbitrum, Fraxtal and Optimism, with about $98.8M in total value locked. TVL rose 41.8% over seven days, and it has been listed since 19 March 2024. DefiLlama associates the CRV token with the protocol.

The key design choice is soft liquidation. The system gradually sells collateral as its price falls and recovers it if the price rises, so positions are managed passively.

How Curve LlamaLend works

Curve LlamaLend lets users lend or borrow using crvUSD, with markets for different crypto collateral. Lenders supply assets to a market, and borrowers deposit collateral to take a loan from it. Each market is isolated from the others, and markets can be created permissionlessly.

The distinctive part is soft liquidation. In many lending protocols a position is liquidated at one threshold. Here, if the collateral's price decreases, the system automatically sells off collateral gradually in soft liquidation mode. If the price rises, the system recovers the collateral.

This means a borrower's position may be partly converted between assets as prices move, which can protect against sudden full liquidation but changes what the borrower holds.

6 features

Key features

01

Isolated lending markets

Each lending market is separate, so risk from one collateral type is intended to stay within that market.

02

Permissionless market creation

Markets for crypto-tokenized collateral can be created without gatekeeping, widening the range of assets that can be borrowed against.

03

crvUSD-based borrowing

Borrowing and lending revolve around Curve's stablecoin, crvUSD.

04

Soft liquidation mode

If collateral price falls, the system automatically sells collateral gradually instead of liquidating all at once.

05

Collateral recovery

If collateral price rises, the system recovers the collateral, so positions are managed passively.

06

Multi-chain deployment

Public sources list Ethereum, Arbitrum, Fraxtal and Optimism as supported chains.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Soft liquidation offers an alternative to sudden full liquidation at a single price.
  • Isolated markets are meant to contain risk within each market.
  • Permissionless market creation supports a wide range of collateral.
  • About $98.8M TVL suggests meaningful usage.
  • Runs on four chains: Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism and Fraxtal.

Watch out for

  • DefiLlama lists no audits for this listing, so users cannot confirm review status.
  • Soft liquidation can leave a position partly converted into the other asset, which many borrowers do not expect.
  • Permissionless market creation means collateral quality varies and some markets may be thin or risky.
  • Borrowing is tied to crvUSD, so stablecoin depeg risk adds to the usual lending risks.
  • Fee, interest rate and liquidation parameters are not published publicly, so users must check each market individually.

Curve LlamaLend fees

Specific borrow rates, lender yields and fees are not published. They vary by market and are normally shown in the market list on the Curve app before a user opens a position.

Users also pay network gas on the chain they use, and soft liquidation can involve conversion costs inside the position. Check each market's parameters before depositing.

Is Curve LlamaLend safe?

DefiLlama lists no audits for this entry, and public sources give no audit history, incident record or admin-key details. Treat that as an unknown rather than a clean bill of health, and read the project's documentation and any independent audit reports.

Lending is non-custodial and uses smart contracts, so bugs, oracle problems and collateral price moves can cause losses. Permissionless markets may hold lower-quality collateral, and crvUSD depeg risk applies. Only deposit what you can afford to lose.

6 steps

How to get started with Curve LlamaLend

  1. 1

Check that DeFi lending is permitted where you live and that you understand the risks.

  2. 2

Open the official Curve site and go to the lending section.

  3. 3

Connect a compatible wallet and select a supported network such as Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism or Fraxtal.

  4. 4

Review the market list, paying attention to collateral type, rates and liquidity.

  5. 5

Choose to lend crvUSD or deposit collateral to borrow it, starting with a small amount.

  6. 6

Monitor your position and collateral price, and understand how soft liquidation affects your holdings.

Who Curve LlamaLend is for

This is for experienced DeFi users comfortable with wallets, collateralized loans and market-by-market research. It is less suitable for beginners who expect a simple liquidation threshold or fixed, published rates.

Curve LlamaLend FAQs

What is Curve LlamaLend?

Curve LlamaLend is Curve's lending market infrastructure. Users can borrow or lend using the crvUSD stablecoin, and markets can be created permissionlessly for crypto-tokenized collateral.

What is soft liquidation?

Instead of liquidating a position at a single price, the system gradually sells collateral as its price falls, which is called soft liquidation mode. If the collateral price rises, the system recovers the collateral.

Which chains does Curve LlamaLend support?

DefiLlama lists Ethereum, Arbitrum, Fraxtal and Optimism. Available markets may differ by chain, so check the app for the specific market you want.

Is Curve LlamaLend safe?

DefiLlama shows no audits listed for this entry and the project does not state an audit history. Users should check the project's own documentation and independent audit reports before depositing. Smart-contract risk applies to any DeFi lending.

Are the lending markets isolated?

Each market is isolated, which means risk is meant to stay within that market rather than spreading across a shared pool. Because markets can be created permissionlessly, the quality of collateral varies and users should check each one.

Does Curve LlamaLend have a token?

Public sources name CRV as the token linked to the protocol on DefiLlama. They do not describe how CRV is used inside LlamaLend specifically.
