Hemi is a modular Layer 2 network that positions itself as a link between Bitcoin and Ethereum. Its central piece is the Hemi Virtual Machine (hVM), which is EVM-compatible and embeds a full Bitcoin node. Smart contracts can therefore read and respond to Bitcoin data directly. Hemi uses a hybrid design that anchors its network state to Bitcoin while keeping the execution speed of an EVM chain.
The native token is HEMI. Users pay transaction fees on-chain as on other EVM networks, so check which asset your wallet needs for gas before you transact. Hemi's DeFi TVL was about $1.2 million at the time of writing, which makes it a small chain with thin liquidity compared with the large networks.
The dApp ecosystem leans toward Bitcoin-linked yield, lending and credit. BitFi Basis offers yield-bearing bfUSD and bfBTC tokens. BIMA CDP provides Bitcoin-backed loans, and Gearbox offers leveraged credit accounts. Solera, a Morpho-powered lending platform, also runs on Hemi. Our list also covers multichain infrastructure such as LayerZero V2, Morpho Blue, Uniswap V3 and Stargate V2. Always confirm that a dApp supports Hemi before you use it, and note that ZeroLend has announced a wind-down.

Frequently asked questions
What is Hemi?
Hemi is a modular Layer 2 network that aims to combine Bitcoin's security with Ethereum-style smart contracts. Its hVM is described as an EVM that includes a Bitcoin node, so contracts can read Bitcoin data directly.
Is Hemi EVM compatible?
Yes, it is built to be EVM-compatible, so Ethereum-style contracts and tools should work with it. The difference is that the hVM adds Bitcoin awareness, which lets apps react to Bitcoin data without relying on a separate oracle.
What is the HEMI token used for?
HEMI is the native token of the network. Check the official Hemi documentation and your wallet to see which asset covers gas fees before you transact.
How many dApps are on Hemi?
Our site lists 33 dApps for Hemi. They include lending, CDP, basis trading, bridge and liquidity-management projects. Many are multichain protocols that also run on other networks, so check that a dApp is actually live on Hemi before you use it.
How much value is locked in Hemi DeFi?
Chain-wide DeFi TVL on Hemi was about $1.2 million at the time of writing. That is small next to the multichain TVL of protocols like Morpho Blue or LayerZero V2, because most of their activity happens on other networks. TVL changes daily, so treat the figure as a snapshot.
Are Hemi dApps safe to use?
Bridges, new Layer 2 networks and DeFi contracts all carry smart contract and liquidity risk. Hemi's TVL is low, so markets can be thin. Start with small amounts and read each dApp's documentation. Note that ZeroLend announced a permanent wind-down in February 2026.
What is the largest dApp on Hemi by TVL?
LayerZero V2 is the largest dApp on Hemi by total value locked, with $17.9B across all the chains it supports. It is followed by Morpho Blue ($10.9B) and Uniswap V3 ($1.52B). TVL figures come from DefiLlama and change daily.
Which dApp on Hemi has the highest DappsAtlas score?
Uniswap V3 has the highest score at 8.4/10, ahead of LayerZero V2 (8.0) and Morpho Blue (8.0). Scores weigh security, ease of use, fees and features, and are based only on facts we could verify.
How many dApps are on Hemi?
DappsAtlas tracks 33 dApps on Hemi. Of these, 33 have a full review and 30 report value locked, $31.5B in total, counting value on every chain they support.
What are the most common types of dApps on Hemi?
Lending (6), DEXes (4) and Liquidity Manager (4) are the largest categories on Hemi, by number of projects.
Which dApps on Hemi grew the most this week?
Among dApps with at least $1M locked, LayerZero V2 had the biggest 7-day TVL gain (+10.6%) and LayerBank the biggest drop (−10.4%). Combined TVL moved +5.4% over the same seven days.
What is the average score for dApps on Hemi?
The 30 rated dApps on Hemi average 6.6 out of 10. Of these, 3 score 8 or higher and 1 score below 5.
