ApeChain is an EVM-compatible blockchain built with Arbitrum Orbit technology, the same framework behind several app-specific chains in the Arbitrum ecosystem. Because it is EVM-compatible, it supports Solidity smart contracts and standard Ethereum wallets, and developers can port apps from other EVM networks with little change. It is designed around the ApeCoin community and the apps and games connected to it.

The native token is APE, which is also used to pay network fees. That makes APE the asset you need for gas on ApeChain, in addition to its governance and utility roles on Ethereum, where it exists as an ERC-20 token. The ApeCoin listing on our site covers the token itself, and the ApeChain Bridge is the official route for moving assets between Ethereum and ApeChain.

The DeFi side is still small, at about $2.3M in TVL at the time of writing, and it centres on a handful of apps. Camelot V2 and Camelot V3 provide decentralized trading, with VaporDex V1 and V2 as smaller exchange options. Teller offers lending against long-tail collateral, Ape Express is a memecoin launchpad, and RubyScore tracks wallet reputation. Cross-chain tools such as LayerZero V2 and Symbiosis, along with the exchanges Gate and Gate US, also appear in our list, though they operate across many networks rather than only on ApeChain.

Frequently asked questions

What is ApeChain?

ApeChain is an EVM-compatible blockchain built with Arbitrum Orbit technology and tied to the ApeCoin ecosystem. It uses APE as its native gas token, so apps and transactions on the network run on the same asset that holds governance and utility roles elsewhere.

Is ApeChain EVM compatible?

Yes. ApeChain is EVM-compatible, so it works with Ethereum-style wallets and smart contracts. Developers can deploy Solidity contracts, and users can connect with familiar wallets after adding the network.

What token do I need to pay fees on ApeChain?

Network fees are paid in APE, the chain's native token. You need a small amount of APE in your wallet on ApeChain to make transactions, such as swaps, bridging back out or minting.

How do I move funds to ApeChain?

The ApeChain Bridge is the official portal for moving assets between Ethereum and ApeChain. Cross-chain tools such as LayerZero V2 and Symbiosis also support routing across many networks, though you should confirm that ApeChain is supported for the specific asset you want to move.

Which dApps are available on ApeChain?

Camelot V2 and Camelot V3 are the largest native exchanges in our list by TVL, followed by VaporDex V1 and V2. Teller offers lending, Ape Express is a memecoin launchpad, and RubyScore provides wallet reputation scoring. Liquidity on smaller venues can be thin, so check pool depth before trading.

How big is the ApeChain DeFi ecosystem?

The total is small. DeFi TVL on ApeChain was about $2.3M at the time of writing, which means many pools are shallow and prices can move quickly on larger trades. Treat smaller dApps with extra caution and only commit what you can afford to lose.

What is the largest dApp on ApeChain by TVL?

LayerZero V2 is the largest dApp on ApeChain by total value locked, with $17.9B across all the chains it supports. It is followed by Gate ($5.91B) and Gate US ($53.9M). TVL figures come from DefiLlama and change daily.

Which dApp on ApeChain has the highest DappsAtlas score?

LayerZero V2 has the highest score at 8.0/10, ahead of Gate (7.7) and Symbiosis (7.2). Scores weigh security, ease of use, fees and features, and are based only on facts we could verify.

How many dApps are on ApeChain?

DappsAtlas tracks 25 dApps on ApeChain. Of these, 25 have a full review and 17 report value locked, $23.9B in total, counting value on every chain they support.

What are the most common types of dApps on ApeChain?

DEXes (4), Lending (3) and Bridge (2) are the largest categories on ApeChain, by number of projects.

Which dApps on ApeChain grew the most this week?

Among dApps with at least $1M locked, LayerZero V2 had the biggest 7-day TVL gain (+10.6%) and BendDAO APE Staking the biggest drop (−5.2%). Combined TVL moved +7.0% over the same seven days.

What is the average score for dApps on ApeChain?

The 19 rated dApps on ApeChain average 6.3 out of 10. Of these, 1 score 8 or higher and 2 score below 5.
