Leveraged farming is a DeFi category where you borrow assets to enlarge a yield farming, liquidity provision or lending position. Instead of earning on only your own deposit, you earn, and risk, on a bigger position. It is aimed at experienced users who already understand liquidity pools, collateral and liquidation.
These protocols usually run a lending market alongside a set of farming strategies or vaults. Lenders supply assets and earn interest. Borrowers pay that interest to open leveraged positions, and the protocol takes a cut through fees on interest, performance or liquidations. Some, such as 3F and Notional Exponent, build on existing lending markets like Morpho. Others, like DeltaPrime, Extra Finance Leverage Farming and DegenPrime, run their own markets on specific chains.
When choosing one, look at the chains supported, how much TVL the protocol holds, how its liquidations work, and what the collateral and borrowed assets are. Yield Basis, 3F and Extra Finance Leverage Farming lead our list by TVL at the time of writing, while many others are small and carry thinner liquidity. Leverage can wipe out a deposit quickly, so only use money you can afford to lose. Readers must be 18 or older (21 where required) and should confirm that these activities are legal where they live.

Frequently asked questions
What is leveraged yield farming?
Leveraged farming is a DeFi strategy where you borrow extra assets and add them to a yield farming or liquidity position, so the position is larger than your own deposit. If the position earns more than the borrowing costs, your return on your own capital rises. If prices move against you, losses rise by the same multiplier.
Is leveraged farming safe?
Yes, and it is usually riskier than plain farming. Leverage can trigger liquidation if your collateral value falls or your debt grows too fast, and you can lose most or all of your deposit. Smart contract bugs, oracle errors and thin liquidity add further risk. Only people who understand these mechanics should consider it, and only with money they can afford to lose.
What happens if my position is liquidated?
Liquidation happens when the value of your position falls too close to the value of what you borrowed. The protocol or a liquidator then sells part or all of your assets to repay the loan, usually with a penalty fee. Each protocol sets its own health threshold, so read the rules for the specific platform before opening a position.
How do leveraged farming protocols make money?
Most charge a share of the interest paid by borrowers, plus fees on performance, trading or liquidations, depending on the design. Some protocols, such as 3F or Notional Exponent, build on lending markets like Morpho, so part of the cost and revenue sits with the underlying market. Check each protocol's documentation for its actual fee structure.
How do I compare leveraged farming dApps?
Compare total value locked, the chains supported, the audit history, how the protocol handles liquidations, and how long it has operated. Our list ranges from larger names such as Yield Basis and 3F, with tens of millions of dollars in TVL at the time of writing, to very small projects such as Bagels Finance or Notional Exponent, where activity is minimal. Very low TVL can mean limited liquidity and higher risk.
Is leveraged farming legal everywhere, and are there age limits?
Not necessarily. Leveraged farming is not gambling in the strict sense, but it carries similar risks of rapid loss, and rules on leveraged products differ by country. You should be at least 18 (21 where required) and should check that this kind of activity is legal where you live. Some platforms may restrict users in certain regions, and you should follow those restrictions and any identity checks.
