IOTA is a Layer 1 network that began as a distributed ledger built around a directed acyclic graph called the Tangle, with a focus on machines and the Internet of Things. Its current design, known as IOTA Rebased, is a Move-based chain aimed at digital identity, tokenized assets and staking for enterprises and developers. The main chain does not run the EVM, though an EVM environment (listed here as IOTA EVM) exists for Ethereum-style apps.
The native token is IOTA. It pays network fees and is staked to support validators. Staking is central to how the network is secured, and several apps here are built around it. Fees are paid in IOTA, so you need a small balance to use any dApp.
The ecosystem is small and centered on staking and basic DeFi. At the time of writing, DeFi TVL is about $1.3 million. Swirl issues stIOTA as a liquid staking token, and TokenLabs runs a validator with its vIOTA token. Pools Finance is a Move-based DEX with swaps, liquidity pools and LP farming. Nightly Wallet supports IOTA alongside Solana, NEAR, Aptos and Sui. Exchange and bridge listings such as Gate and USDT0 also appear, though they operate across many chains. We list 8 dApps for IOTA in total.

Frequently asked questions
What is IOTA?
IOTA is a Layer 1 network built for digital identity, tokenized assets and staking, aimed at enterprises and developers. Its current form, often called IOTA Rebased, uses the Move smart contract language. It replaced the older Tangle design that the project was originally known for.
Is IOTA compatible with Ethereum and the EVM?
No, the main IOTA Layer 1 is Move-based rather than EVM-based. The chain list on this site also includes an IOTA EVM environment for Ethereum-style apps. Some multichain wallets, such as Nightly Wallet, support both.
What is the IOTA token used for?
IOTA is the native token. It is used for network fees and for staking, which supports validators. Staking protocols such as Swirl and TokenLabs build on this by issuing liquid tokens (stIOTA and vIOTA) for staked IOTA.
Which dApps can I use on IOTA?
Swirl and TokenLabs are the staking options listed here, and Pools Finance is the Move-based DEX for swaps and liquidity pools. Nightly Wallet is a noncustodial wallet that supports IOTA. Check each dApp's page for its score and details.
How big is the IOTA DeFi ecosystem?
At the time of writing, DeFi TVL on IOTA is about $1.3 million, which is small next to the large smart contract chains. Gate and USDT0 appear on our list with much larger figures, but those reflect their activity across many chains, not IOTA alone.
Are IOTA dApps risky to use?
Early-stage chains with small liquidity carry extra risk, including smart contract bugs, thin markets and price swings. Use only funds you can afford to lose, and read how each protocol handles staking, unstaking and withdrawals first. Nothing on this page is financial advice.
What is the largest dApp on IOTA by TVL?
Which dApp on IOTA has the highest DappsAtlas score?
Gate has the highest score at 7.7/10, ahead of USDT0 (7.5) and Nightly Wallet (7.0). Scores weigh security, ease of use, fees and features, and are based only on facts we could verify.
How many dApps are on IOTA?
DappsAtlas tracks 10 dApps on IOTA. Of these, 10 have a full review and 6 report value locked, $9.27B in total, counting value on every chain they support.
What are the most common types of dApps on IOTA?
Staking (2), Staking Pool (2) and Centralized Exchanges (1) are the largest categories on IOTA, by number of projects.
Which dApps on IOTA grew the most this week?
What is the average score for dApps on IOTA?
The 7 rated dApps on IOTA average 6.9 out of 10. Of these, 0 score 8 or higher and 0 score below 5.
