Good

Our verdict on Pools Finance

6.5/10

Pools Finance suits users already on IOTA who want a native place to swap, provide liquidity and farm LP tokens. Its main strengths are an early position on the chain, stable and volatile pool types, and a wallet-only experience. The main caveat is size and maturity: TVL is around 1.1 million USD, fee details are unpublished, and the audit details need to be checked directly. Treat it as a small, early-stage protocol and size positions accordingly.

What is Pools Finance?

Pools Finance is a decentralized exchange on the IOTA Layer 1. It describes itself as the first DEX on IOTA's new Layer 1 and is built with the Move language on MoveVM.

The app covers token swaps, liquidity pools and farms where LP tokens earn extra rewards. It mixes v2-style pools with stable pools. DefiLlama lists it in the Dexs category with about 1.12 million USD in TVL and a listing date of 24 July 2025.

The homepage promises permissionless pool creation, no signups and no KYC. It also says new pool types are coming, so some of the pitch is still roadmap.

How Pools Finance works

Pools Finance is an automated market maker (AMM). Instead of an order book, traders swap against pools of two tokens, and the price moves based on the pool's balance. The protocol uses v2-style pools for general pairs and stable pools for assets that should trade close together.

Liquidity providers deposit tokens into a pool and receive LP tokens. They earn a share of the swap fees. Those LP tokens can be staked in farms for additional rewards.

The contracts are written in Move and run on IOTA's Layer 1. Anyone can create a pool for a token without permission, which broadens listings but also means users must check what they trade.

6 features

Key features

01

Token swaps

Swap tokens on IOTA through a v2-style AMM, with the site promising low fees and gas-efficient execution on MoveVM.

02

Liquidity provision

Deposit tokens into a pool and earn a share of the fees generated by every swap.

03

Volatile and stable pools

The protocol combines classic v2-style AMMs with stable liquidity pools, which suit assets that trade near the same price.

04

LP farming

Stake LP tokens in farms to earn additional rewards on top of swap fees.

05

Permissionless pool creation

The homepage says anyone can launch new pools and support new tokens without permission.

06

No signup access

Connect a wallet and trade; the homepage states there are no signups and no KYC.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Early DEX on a newer chain, so there is little local competition
  • Supports both v2-style volatile pools and stable pools
  • Permissionless pool and token listing
  • No signup or KYC needed to use the app
  • DefiLlama lists two audits
  • LP staking in farms for additional rewards

Watch out for

  • TVL of about 1.1 million USD is small, so large swaps may see heavy price impact
  • The IOTA ecosystem is young and has far fewer tokens and users than Ethereum or Solana
  • No native token, and reward details for farms are not published publicly
  • Audit count is listed (2) but auditor names and reports are not named publicly
  • Swap fee rates and LP fee splits are not stated
  • Promised features such as new pool types are roadmap items, not live products

Pools Finance fees

Swap fee rates, LP fee splits and farm reward rates are not published publicly. The homepage only says swaps carry low fees and that liquidity providers earn a share of every swap.

Users should see the exact fee for a pool in the app before confirming a swap, and in the docs. Network gas on IOTA is paid separately.

Is Pools Finance safe?

DefiLlama lists two audits, but the project does not name the auditors or show the findings. Read the reports in the docs before depositing. Liquidity pools carry smart-contract risk and impermanent loss, and permissionless listings mean some tokens may be low quality or malicious.

The protocol is non-custodial in the usual DEX sense: you connect your own wallet. No hacks or incidents appear. The project is new, which means a short track record. A terms of service page exists, and users should check whether use is allowed where they live.

6 steps

How to get started with Pools Finance

  1. 1

Install an IOTA-compatible wallet and fund it with IOTA for gas.

  2. 2

Open the Pools Finance app from the official website.

  3. 3

Connect the wallet and review the pool fee and price impact before swapping.

  4. 4

To earn fees, pick a pool and add both tokens in the required ratio.

  5. 5

Stake the LP tokens in a farm if you want extra rewards.

  6. 6

Read the docs and audit information first, and start with a small amount.

Who Pools Finance is for

Pools Finance is for DeFi users already holding assets on IOTA who want to swap or earn fees as a liquidity provider, and who are comfortable with early-stage protocol risk. It is not aimed at traders who need deep liquidity for large orders.
