VeChain is a layer-1 blockchain aimed at businesses and real-world use, with supply chain tracking as its best-known focus. It supports smart contracts and is EVM-compatible, so developers can reuse Ethereum-style tools. Its network, VeChainThor, was historically run by a limited set of approved validators under a Proof of Authority model. Newer staking apps like StarGate point toward a wider validator and delegation system.

VeChain uses two tokens. VET is the main asset for transfers and staking, and VTHO pays for transaction fees. Holding or staking VET generates VTHO, so heavy users can cover fees from rewards rather than buying gas separately. Fee costs are usually low and easier to predict than on chains where one token does both jobs.

On-chain DeFi here is small, at about $306,000 total value locked at the time of writing. The VeChain-native apps on this page are mostly about staking and governance: StarGate for NFT-based staking and delegation, and veDelegate for automating VeBetterDAO votes and rewards. Trading is covered by smaller apps such as TurtleSwap and Betterswap. Gate, Bitrue and Gate US also appear in the list, but they are multi-chain centralized exchanges rather than apps built only for VeChain.

Frequently asked questions

What is VeChain?

VeChain is a smart-contract blockchain built for business and real-world uses such as supply chain tracking, and it also supports consumer apps. It is EVM-compatible, so developers can use familiar Ethereum-style tooling. Its network is often called VeChainThor.

What are VET and VTHO?

VET is the main token, used for value transfer and staking. VTHO is a second token that pays for transaction fees and is generated by holding or staking VET. This two-token setup is meant to keep fees more predictable than on chains where the main token doubles as gas.

What kinds of dApps can I find on VeChain?

Mostly native staking, governance and DEX apps. StarGate handles NFT-based staking and delegation. veDelegate automates VeBetterDAO voting. TurtleSwap and Betterswap cover trading and liquidity. Gate, Bitrue and Gate US also appear here, but they are multi-chain centralized exchanges rather than VeChain-native apps.

Is VeChain a big DeFi chain?

No. VeChain's on-chain DeFi is small. At the time of writing, total value locked is about $306,000, and most of that sits in StarGate and veDelegate. The larger TVL figures on this page belong to centralized exchanges that support many networks, so they say little about VeChain itself.

What is StarGate on VeChain?

StarGate is VeChain's official staking platform. VET holders mint node NFTs, delegate them to validators and earn VTHO. It is the largest VeChain-native app on this page by value locked, at about $4.0 million at the time of writing.

Do I need a VeChain wallet to use the apps listed here?

Not necessarily. Gate, Bitrue and Gate US are centralized exchanges where you hold an account with the company, and their availability, KYC rules and supported assets vary by country. Check the terms and local rules before signing up, and remember that exchange balances are not self-custodied.

What is the largest dApp on Vechain by TVL?

Gate is the largest dApp on Vechain by total value locked, with $5.91B across all the chains it supports. It is followed by Bitrue ($131M) and Gate US ($53.9M). TVL figures come from DefiLlama and change daily.

Which dApp on Vechain has the highest DappsAtlas score?

Gate has the highest score at 7.7/10, ahead of StarGate (7.3) and Bitrue (6.8). Scores weigh security, ease of use, fees and features, and are based only on facts we could verify.

How many dApps are on Vechain?

DappsAtlas tracks 10 dApps on Vechain. Of these, 10 have a full review and 6 report value locked, $6.10B in total, counting value on every chain they support.

What are the most common types of dApps on Vechain?

Centralized Exchanges (3), NFT Marketplaces: General (2) and DEXes (2) are the largest categories on Vechain, by number of projects.

Which dApps on Vechain grew the most this week?

Among dApps with at least $1M locked, StarGate the biggest drop (−9.6%). Combined TVL moved −2.7% over the same seven days.

What is the average score for dApps on Vechain?

The 9 rated dApps on Vechain average 6.2 out of 10. Of these, 0 score 8 or higher and 1 score below 5.
