World Chain is an Ethereum layer 2 from World Network, the project formerly called Worldcoin. As a layer 2, it runs transactions off the main Ethereum network and settles them back to it, which is meant to keep costs lower and capacity higher. Its distinctive feature is optional World ID verification, which gives verified users priority blockspace and gas. The chain presents itself as a network for real people, with scaling and easy onchain use as stated goals.

The native token is WLD. Fees on layer 2 networks are generally small compared with Ethereum mainnet, though they vary with demand and with World ID priority access. DeFi activity is modest: total value locked is about $35.6M at the time of writing, so liquidity in many markets is thin. Check pool depth and fees before trading.

The ecosystem is mostly multichain protocols that have added World Chain. Morpho Blue offers lending, Uniswap V2, V3 and V4 cover swaps, and Reservoir Protocol issues the rUSD stablecoin. Re7 Labs works on lending risk curation, Capyfi lends to Latin American users, and PoolTogether V5 runs a no-loss prize savings game. Credit, DackieSwap V2 and HoldStation DeFutures are smaller, riskier names. Prize-style products can resemble gambling, so you must be 18+ (21+ where required) and check that they are legal where you live.

World Chain FAQs

What is World Chain?

World Chain is an Ethereum layer 2 network from World Network, the project formerly known as Worldcoin. It is built around optional World ID verification, which gives verified users priority blockspace and gas. Anyone can use the chain without verifying.

Do I need World ID to use dApps on World Chain?

No. World ID verification is optional, and the listed DeFi apps do not appear to depend on it. Verification mainly gives priority access to blockspace and gas. Check each app's own documentation for its requirements.

Is World Chain compatible with Ethereum wallets and apps?

World Chain is an Ethereum layer 2, so it works much like other Ethereum-based networks and is used with standard Ethereum wallets. Apps such as Morpho Blue and the Uniswap versions appear on both Ethereum and layer 2s. Confirm the network in your wallet before sending funds.

What is the WLD token and how do fees work?

The data lists WLD as the chain's native token. Gas fees are generally low on layer 2 networks, but the exact cost varies with network conditions and with World ID priority access. Check your wallet's fee estimate before confirming a transaction.

Which dApps can I find on World Chain?

Our list includes lending protocols such as Morpho Blue and Capyfi, DEXes such as Uniswap V2, V3 and V4 and DackieSwap V2, and Reservoir Protocol, which issues a stablecoin. It also has Re7 Labs for risk curation, Credit for uncollateralized USDC lending, PoolTogether V5 for prize savings, and HoldStation DeFutures for perpetuals. Many of these also run on other chains.

How much value is locked in World Chain DeFi?

About $35.6M at the time of writing, which is small next to large Ethereum layer 2s. Smaller liquidity can mean wider spreads and thinner markets, so treat position sizes carefully. The figure changes daily.

Is every dApp on this page built for World Chain?

Not necessarily. Entries such as Binance, Bitget and Gate are centralized exchanges that appear in our listings with large reported totals across many networks. Those figures are not World Chain DeFi activity. Prize-savings apps like PoolTogether V5 can resemble gambling. You must be 18+ (21+ where required) and check that such products are legal where you live.

What is the largest dApp on World Chain by TVL?

Binance CEX is the largest dApp on World Chain by total value locked, with $127B across all the chains it supports. It is followed by LayerZero V2 ($16.7B) and Morpho Blue ($10.9B). TVL figures come from DefiLlama and change daily.

Which dApp on World Chain has the highest DappsAtlas score?

Uniswap V4 has the highest score at 8.5/10, ahead of Uniswap V3 (8.4) and LayerZero V2 (8.0). Scores weigh security, ease of use, fees and features, and are based only on facts we could verify.

How many dApps are on World Chain?

DappsAtlas tracks 29 dApps on World Chain. Of these, 29 have a full review and 21 report value locked, $172B in total, counting value on every chain they support.

What are the most common types of dApps on World Chain?

Lending (5), DEXes (4) and Centralized Exchanges (3) are the largest categories on World Chain, by number of projects.

Which dApps on World Chain grew the most this week?
