What EURC is

EURC, also called Euro Coin, is a stablecoin issued by Circle, the company behind USDC. Each token is meant to be redeemable one-to-one for a euro. Circle says it is backed by euros held in euro-denominated bank accounts, using the same reserve model as USDC.

A stablecoin like this tries to hold a steady value against a national currency so it can move on a blockchain without the price swings of assets such as Bitcoin. EURC tracks the euro, not the US dollar. Circle's documentation describes it as compliant with the European Union's MiCA regulation, which sets rules for issuers of crypto-assets that reference a currency.

EURC is not the native token of any blockchain and does not pay staking rewards by itself. It is a claim on the issuer's reserves, and it works as a digital version of euro cash that can be sent between wallets at any hour. Its market capitalization ranked around 105th among crypto assets as of 2026-11-05, which puts it among the larger euro stablecoins but far smaller than the biggest dollar stablecoins.

What EURC is used for

The main use is to hold and move euros on a blockchain. Public descriptions mention payments, savings, trading, lending, and giving businesses wider access to euro liquidity. People and companies that deal in euros can settle transfers on-chain without converting to dollars first.

One analysis from June 2026 broke down how EURC moves. It found that roughly 35% of flow went through decentralized exchange liquidity, about 21% was issuance and redemption, and about 21% was transfers to and from exchanges, with the remainder spread across other activity. Treat these as one study's estimates, not fixed facts, but they suggest EURC is used heavily as a trading and liquidity instrument as well as for payments.

In practice, EURC often serves as the euro side of a trading pair. Someone who wants euro exposure inside DeFi, or who wants to swap between euros and dollar stablecoins such as USDC, can do so through exchanges and decentralized exchanges. Some payment and treasury workflows also use it to pay suppliers or move funds across borders and between chains.

Supply and tokenomics

EURC has no fixed maximum supply. New tokens are created when a verified customer deposits euros with Circle, and tokens are removed from circulation when they are redeemed for euros. The supply therefore follows demand rather than a preset schedule.

As of 2026-11-05, about 453 million EURC were in circulation, and the total supply matched that figure. That corresponds to a market capitalization of about $507.9 million, with fully diluted value the same because there is no separate locked supply. Daily trading volume was about $38.9 million at the time of writing.

The quoted dollar price was about $1.12. That does not mean EURC is unstable. Because the token is pegged to the euro, its dollar price mostly reflects the euro-to-dollar exchange rate, so it rises and falls as that rate moves. Data aggregators list an all-time high of about $1.35 in March 2023 and a very low print near $0.05 in December 2022. The low is probably an artifact of thin early trading or bad data rather than a real collapse of the peg, so read it with caution.

There is no governance token, fee-sharing, or yield built into EURC itself.

Chains, holding and trading

EURC is issued on several blockchains: Ethereum, Base, Optimism, Solana, Avalanche, Stellar, Cronos, World Chain, Plasma and Arc. The data lists each of these as a network where Circle has issued the token. Native issuance on a chain means the token is created there directly rather than being a wrapped copy.

People hold EURC in ordinary crypto wallets on the chain of their choice. Wallet apps for Ethereum-compatible networks, Solana and Stellar can all display it once the correct token is added. It can also sit in an account at a centralized exchange or a regulated platform.

Trading works in a few ways. Centralized exchanges list EURC against euros, dollars and other assets, and some services let users buy it with bank methods such as SEPA transfers. On-chain, decentralized exchanges and liquidity pools let users swap EURC for other tokens directly from a wallet. Fees and speed depend on the chain used.

Tokens on different chains are not interchangeable unless a supported transfer route is used. Sending EURC to an address on the wrong network can cause delays or loss, so always confirm the chain before sending.

History and notable events

Circle introduced its euro stablecoin in 2022, a few months after it was already running USDC for dollars. public data here does not give an exact launch date, so only the broad timing is stated.

The token was initially labeled Euro Coin, and the EURC ticker is the name seen on most platforms today. Over time Circle expanded the number of blockchains it supports, which is why the list of networks above is long compared with the early days when it ran mainly on Ethereum.

The regulatory side has mattered for EURC's positioning. Circle describes EURC as MiCA-compliant, and that framing helps European businesses and exchanges that need to work with a token under EU rules. The same regulatory environment has pushed some exchanges in the region to favor compliant stablecoins, a trend that affects where EURC can be listed.

Price history has been quiet by crypto standards. As of 2026-11-05 the dollar price had moved about 0.7% over seven days and was down about 2.3% over a year, a change that largely tracks the euro against the dollar.

Risks to understand

A stablecoin is only as sound as its issuer and reserves. EURC depends on Circle holding enough euros in banks and honoring redemptions. If reserves were mismanaged, if a partner bank failed, or if redemption were interrupted, the token could trade below one euro.

Other risks to weigh:

  • Issuer control. Circle-issued tokens generally allow the issuer to freeze addresses or block transfers in line with legal requirements. EURC is not censorship-resistant in the way some assets are.
  • Regulatory change. Rules for stablecoins in the EU and elsewhere continue to develop and could change who can hold, issue or list the token.
  • Smart contract and bridge risk. Using EURC in DeFi or moving it across chains exposes you to bugs and exploits in those protocols.
  • Currency risk. If you think in dollars or another currency, the value of your holding moves with the euro's exchange rate.
  • Liquidity. EURC is much less traded than leading dollar stablecoins, so large trades on thin pools can face slippage.
  • Depegging. Short-lived gaps from one euro can occur during market stress.

How to store EURC safely

How you store EURC depends on the amount and how you use it. For small sums used in trading, a reputable exchange account is convenient, but you rely on the platform and it holds the keys. For longer holding or larger sums, a self-custody wallet puts you in control.

A few practical habits help:

  • Use a hardware wallet for meaningful amounts and keep the recovery phrase offline, written down and never typed into a website or shared with anyone.
  • Confirm the blockchain before every transfer. The same address format can exist on several networks, and a mismatch can lose funds.
  • Send a small test amount first when moving to a new address or chain.
  • Check the token contract address against Circle's official documentation, since fake tokens with the same name exist.
  • Be careful with approvals when using DeFi apps and revoke permissions you no longer need.
  • Remember the issuer can freeze tokens at an address, so keep records of where funds came from.

If you hold EURC for euro exposure, also consider tax treatment in your country, as gains or losses against your reporting currency may be taxable.

By the numbers

EURC in numbers

EURC (EURC) is ranked #101 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $517M and a price of $1.11 as of Nov 7, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($517M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.

The price was down 0.1% over 7 days, down 0.5% over 30 days, down 3.5% over the past year. It trades about 18% below its all-time high of $1.35, set on Mar 14, 2023.

About 464.41M EURC are in circulation. No hard maximum supply is listed, so new tokens can still be issued.

24-hour trading volume was about $34.1M, or 6.6% of its market cap: moderate turnover.

EURC has token contracts on 10 chains we track, including Ethereum, World Chain, Arc, Plasma. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

What is EURC?

EURC is a stablecoin from Circle that is designed to be redeemable one-to-one for the euro. Circle says it is backed by euros held in euro-denominated bank accounts, using the same reserve model as USDC.

Why is EURC priced above $1?

Not exactly. EURC is pegged to the euro, so its price in dollars follows the euro-to-dollar exchange rate. About $1.12 as of 2026-11-05 reflects that rate, not a break in the peg.

Is EURC regulated?

Circle documents it as compliant with the EU's MiCA regulation. That describes the issuer's regulatory position and does not remove risks such as reserve problems, depegging or smart contract failures.

Which blockchains support EURC?

EURC is issued on Ethereum, Base, Optimism, Solana, Avalanche, Stellar, Cronos, World Chain, Plasma and Arc. Always check which network your wallet or exchange is using before sending funds.

Where can EURC be bought or traded?

It can be traded on centralized exchanges and on decentralized exchanges, and some services let users buy with bank transfers such as SEPA. Availability depends on your location and the platform's rules, so check what applies to you.

Does EURC earn interest?

No. EURC itself has no built-in yield or staking reward. Any return comes from third-party platforms or DeFi protocols, which carry their own risks.

What is the market cap of EURC?

As of Nov 7, 2026, EURC had a market cap of about $517M, ranking #101 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.

What is the all-time high of EURC?

EURC's all-time high is $1.35, reached on Mar 14, 2023. Its all-time low is $0.0528 (Dec 8, 2022). Past prices say nothing about future returns.
