What Open USD (OUSD) is
Open USD (OUSD) is a US dollar stablecoin, meaning a token designed to stay close to one dollar in value. Its project description calls it the first stablecoin designed as open infrastructure. It is operated by a company called Open Standard and governed by its partners, so it is not a community-run protocol with a freely tradable governance token.
The pitch is aimed at businesses rather than individual traders. The project says it wants to give companies the economics, governance and reliability they need to move money, with no artificial limits on scale or payments use. A distinctive claim is that the platforms that use OUSD the most receive nearly all of the underlying earnings. In plain terms, the reserves that back the token generate income, and instead of the issuer keeping most of it, the plan is to pass it to the businesses that drive adoption.
OUSD is listed in the fiat-backed stablecoin category by at least one data aggregator. The details of what the reserves hold, who custodies them and how often they are verified are not part of the information we have, so check the issuer's own published documentation before relying on any assumption about them.
What OUSD is used for
The main use case is payments and money movement. Because OUSD is a dollar-pegged token, a business can send, receive and settle value on a blockchain without exposure to the price swings of assets like Ether or Bitcoin. Typical stablecoin activity includes cross-border transfers, payouts, treasury balances and acting as a quote currency on exchanges and in DeFi.
The project positions OUSD as infrastructure for platforms, such as payment apps, wallets and fintech services, that want to offer a dollar balance to their own users. The revenue-sharing idea is the hook: the more a platform uses OUSD, the larger its share of the earnings the underlying reserves produce. That is a design for distribution partners rather than a yield product for ordinary holders, and we have no data suggesting that individual holders receive interest simply by holding the token.
Beyond that, public information is limited. We do not have a list of specific partner platforms, integrations or dApps that use OUSD, and we will not guess at them. If you are considering OUSD for a particular purpose, confirm with the issuer or the platform you plan to use that it is supported.
Supply and tokenomics
Stablecoin supply behaves differently from the supply of a typical crypto asset. There is no fixed maximum, and the amount in circulation expands when new tokens are issued against deposits and shrinks when tokens are redeemed. The data lists no maximum supply for OUSD.
As of 2026-11-05, circulating and total supply were both about 910.7 million OUSD, which puts the market capitalisation and fully diluted value at roughly $909 million. At the time of writing that placed OUSD around rank 76 by market cap among all tracked crypto assets. The two figures matching reflects the fact that there is no locked or vesting portion to dilute holders.
The price at the time of writing was about $0.998, slightly under one dollar. The recorded range is narrow: an all-time low of about $0.991 on 2026-10-11 and an all-time high of about $1.041 on 2026-11-02. A 7-day change of under 0.1 percent is the sort of stability expected from a stablecoin, though the spike above $1.04 shows that brief deviations can happen, particularly in thin markets. Trading volume over 24 hours was only about $545,000, small relative to the market cap.
There is no tokenomics model with team allocations or emissions as far as we know.
Chains and how it is held and traded
OUSD is issued on four networks: Ethereum, Base, Solana and Tempo. Ethereum is the oldest and most widely supported smart contract chain. Base is a lower-fee network built on top of Ethereum. Solana is a separate high-throughput chain with its own wallets and token standard. Tempo is a newer network that is less widely known, and we have limited public information about it beyond OUSD being issued there.
Because the same stablecoin exists on several chains, the version you hold depends on the network you received it on. A token on Solana cannot be sent directly to an Ethereum address; moving between chains requires a bridge or a redemption and reissue process supported by the issuer. Always confirm the network before sending, since sending to the wrong chain can result in lost funds.
In general terms, stablecoins are held in self-custody wallets that support the relevant chain, or in accounts at exchanges and payment platforms. OUSD can also be traded on decentralised exchanges or centralised venues where it is listed. The low daily volume at the time of writing suggests liquidity may be thin, so large trades may move the price. Check which platforms actually list OUSD before planning a purchase.
History and notable events
the public information available to us do not give a launch date, so we will not state one. What the data does show is recent price history: a low of about $0.991 on 2026-10-11 and a high of about $1.041 on 2026-11-02, a few weeks apart. For a dollar-pegged asset, a move of that size is worth noting, and it may reflect thin trading rather than any change in the underlying reserves.
By market cap, OUSD is a mid-sized stablecoin, at about $909 million as of 2026-11-05. That is far smaller than the largest dollar stablecoins but substantial enough to rank within the top 100 crypto assets. The project's multi-chain issuance across Ethereum, Base, Solana and Tempo suggests it was built for broad distribution from early on.
We have no information about audits, regulatory actions, depegging incidents, partnerships or governance changes, and none of those are asserted here. For the full story, including when the token launched, who the governing partners are and how the revenue-sharing arrangement works in practice, the issuer's own documentation and announcements are the right sources. Treat any claim about the project's history that you cannot verify there with caution.
Risks to understand
Stablecoins carry risks that are different from those of volatile crypto assets. The first is peg risk: if the market doubts the reserves or the ability to redeem, the price can drift below one dollar and may not recover quickly. OUSD has traded within a fairly tight band, but briefly reached about $1.041 and about $0.991 in the recorded history.
Reserve and issuer risk is central. OUSD is operated by Open Standard, so holders depend on that organisation and its partners to hold reserves, honour redemptions and manage the arrangements. We do not have details on reserve composition, custody, attestations or redemption terms, so you should read the issuer's disclosures yourself.
Governance risk follows from the partner-governed model: decisions are made by a defined group rather than by open token voting, so holders have no formal say. Liquidity risk matters too. Daily volume of around $545,000 against a market cap near $909 million means that exiting a large position quickly could be difficult at the quoted price.
There are also the usual technical risks: smart contract bugs, bridge failures when moving between chains, and regulatory changes affecting stablecoins in your jurisdiction. This article is not financial advice.
How to store OUSD safely
Store OUSD the way you would any token on its chain. For modest amounts, a reputable self-custody wallet that supports Ethereum, Base, Solana or Tempo is a common choice, depending on which network your OUSD sits on. For larger balances, a hardware wallet keeps your private keys offline and out of reach of most malware. Write down your recovery phrase on paper, keep it offline, and never share it or type it into a website.
Before sending anything, check three things: that you have the correct token, that the receiving address is on the same network, and that the contract address matches the one published by the issuer. Send a small test transaction first when moving a meaningful amount. Make sure you hold a little of the chain's native currency to pay network fees, such as ETH on Ethereum and Base or SOL on Solana.
Be cautious of fake tokens with similar names, which are common around stablecoins, and of approval requests from unfamiliar sites. If you keep OUSD at an exchange or payment platform instead, you rely on that company's security and solvency, so use two-factor authentication and do not leave more there than you need.
By the numbers
Open USD in numbers
Open USD (OUSD) is ranked #76 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $907M and a price of $0.9987 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($907M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.
The price was down 0.3% over 7 days, up 0.0% over 30 days. It trades about 4% below its all-time high of $1.04, set on Nov 2, 2026.
About 908.49M OUSD are in circulation. No hard maximum supply is listed, so new tokens can still be issued.
24-hour trading volume was about $940K, or 0.1% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.
OUSD has token contracts on 4 chains we track, including Ethereum, Base, Solana, Tempo. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.
