apxUSD (APXUSD): What It Is, Uses and Risks
apxUSD is a synthetic dollar from Apyx, backed by preferred shares of crypto-treasury companies instead of cash. It slipped sharply below its peg in June 2026, so its risk profile differs from mainstream stablecoins.

What apxUSD is
apxUSD is a synthetic dollar issued by Apyx, a protocol that describes itself as a dividend-backed stablecoin system. Instead of holding cash or short-term government debt, Apyx acquires preferred shares issued by Digital Asset Treasuries (DATs). These are publicly listed companies that hold crypto on their balance sheets and issue preferred stock that pays monthly cash dividends.
The protocol holds those preferred shares as collateral and says apxUSD is backed by more than 100% of its value in them. It also describes a protocol-owned liquidity buffer that acts as extra overcollateralization. The dividend payments come from outside the blockchain, and Apyx converts them into onchain yield.
That makes apxUSD different from fiat-backed stablecoins such as USDC. Its backing depends on the market value of equity in a narrow group of crypto-linked companies, not on bank deposits or Treasury bills. Public reporting also describe the token as a synthetic dollar and refer to a preferred-share-backed design, which fits the project's own description.
What the token is used for
apxUSD is meant to be a liquid dollar-like unit that can move across DeFi and centralized finance. The project says it does not pay yield directly. Holding apxUSD alone is therefore not designed to earn the dividend stream.
Yield goes through a second token, apyUSD. This is an ERC-4626 vault where users lock apxUSD and receive a claim that is meant to grow in value against apxUSD as dividends are distributed. In effect, apxUSD is the base dollar and apyUSD is the yield-bearing wrapper.
Other uses depend on where it is listed. Public information indicates that apxUSD can be traded on exchanges, including Kraken, which supports deposits, withdrawals and trading. Lending and borrowing rate comparison pages also list the token, so some platforms treat it as collateral or a lending asset. Availability and terms vary by platform and can change, so check each venue directly.
Supply and tokenomics
At the time of writing (as of 2026-11-05), about 301.8 million apxUSD are in circulation, and total supply is the same figure. No maximum supply is given. Because it is a stablecoin, supply expands and contracts as users mint and redeem rather than following a fixed schedule.
Apyx's documentation describes minting as sending approved assets, such as USDC, to the protocol in exchange for newly issued apxUSD. Redeeming burns apxUSD, and redemptions settle in USDC according to the search summaries. The mechanics, limits, fees and any eligibility rules are set by the protocol, so read its documentation before relying on them.
Market data shows a price of about $0.9907, a market capitalization of about $299.0 million, and 24-hour trading volume of about $5.9 million. Market cap ranked around 136th. One search result from May 2026 cited a larger issued figure of 502 million tokens, so supply has clearly moved over time.
Chains and how it is held and traded
apxUSD is issued on Ethereum, Base, BNB Chain and Solana. It is not the native token of any chain. Holders typically keep it in a self-custody wallet that supports the relevant network, or leave it on an exchange that lists it.
Trading happens on centralized exchanges and on decentralized exchanges where liquidity pools exist. Moving between chains requires a bridge or an official cross-chain mechanism, and each adds technical risk. Always confirm the network before sending, because sending tokens to the wrong chain can result in permanent loss.
The yield vault, apyUSD, follows the ERC-4626 standard, which is an Ethereum vault format. Anyone using it should understand that depositing into a vault adds smart contract risk on top of the risk of the stablecoin itself.
History and notable events
The token's recorded all-time high was about $1.012 on 2026-03-12. Its all-time low was about $0.7176 on 2026-06-26, a severe drop for something meant to track one dollar. A report from June 25, 2026 noted the price falling below $0.80, and commentators raised concerns about the peg.
That episode is the most important event in the token's public record. It shows that the peg has failed under stress at least once. At the time of writing the price was back near $1, with a 7-day change of about -0.2%, but a return to the peg does not remove the underlying design risk.
On the partnership side, Apyx names DeFi Development Corp. (Nasdaq: DFDV), described as the first Solana Digital Asset Treasury, as a core strategic partner. The data does not give a launch date, so none is stated here.
Risks
The main risk is collateral quality. Preferred shares of crypto-treasury companies can fall in price when crypto markets fall, and those companies may suspend or cut dividends. The collateral is also concentrated in one type of issuer, so losses can happen together. Apyx says it manages this with daily NAV reporting, auto-rebalancing based on issuer concentration and liquidity, and stress tests, but these are the project's own claims.
Other risks include thin liquidity during sell-offs, since redemptions settle in USDC and depend on the protocol's process. There is also smart contract risk, bridge risk, and off-chain risk, because the collateral is equity held through traditional finance structures. Regulatory treatment of tokens backed by securities is also unsettled. One analysis labeled the token a high-risk stablecoin watchlist asset.
This page is informational and not financial advice. Do not treat apxUSD as equivalent to a cash-backed stablecoin.
How to store it safely
Use a reputable wallet that supports the chain you are using. A hardware wallet is a sensible choice for larger balances, because it keeps private keys offline. Write your recovery phrase on paper, store it somewhere secure, and never share it or type it into a website.
Before sending funds, verify the official contract address for each chain through the project's own documentation, since fake tokens with similar names exist. Send a small test transaction first. Be careful with token approvals, and revoke any that you no longer need.
If you use exchanges, remember that tokens left there are held by the platform and not by you. Avoid keeping all your funds in one place, and avoid putting an amount into a yield vault that you could not afford to see locked or devalued.
By the numbers
apxUSD in numbers
apxUSD (APXUSD) is ranked #133 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $299M and a price of $0.9903 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($299M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.
The price was down 0.5% over 7 days, down 0.2% over 30 days. It trades about 2% below its all-time high of $1.01, set on Mar 12, 2026.
About 301.73M APXUSD are in circulation. No hard maximum supply is listed, so new tokens can still be issued.
24-hour trading volume was about $5.22M, or 1.7% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.
APXUSD has token contracts on 4 chains we track, including Ethereum, Base, BNB Chain, Solana. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.
