What AUSD is

AUSD, short for Agora USD, is a US dollar stablecoin. It is designed to be redeemable one-to-one for US dollars, so one token should track a value of about one dollar. The project behind it is Agora, which describes AUSD as a digital dollar backed by cash, US Treasury bills and other low-risk assets.

The project's own description says the reserves are held with one of the world's largest custodian banks, that a Big 4 auditor is involved, and that a top-tier fund manager handles the assets. Those are the issuer's claims, and readers who care about the details should check Agora's published attestations and reserve reports rather than rely on a summary.

AUSD does not have its own blockchain. It is a token issued on many existing networks, and its price is meant to stay flat rather than rise or fall with the market. At the time of writing, as of 2026-11-05, it traded at about $0.999, which is typical for a dollar-pegged asset.

What the token is used for

AUSD is used as a dollar-denominated unit of account and settlement on-chain. The project's description lists trading, lending and payments as its main purposes. In practice that means traders can hold it as a stable base asset, lending protocols can accept it, and people or businesses can send dollar value across supported chains.

The project also emphasizes low transaction cost, saying its smart contract is gas-optimized. That claim comes from the project itself. Coverage of the launch on Sui framed AUSD as a way to give people in underserved regions access to dollar-based value storage.

As with other stablecoins, AUSD is not meant as an investment that grows in value. Its usefulness comes from staying close to one dollar while moving quickly on blockchains, which can operate at any hour and settle faster than many traditional payment rails.

Supply and tokenomics

AUSD has no fixed maximum supply. Its supply expands when new tokens are minted against dollar deposits and shrinks when tokens are redeemed and burned. Circulating and total supply were both about 157.1 million tokens as of 2026-11-05, which matches a market capitalization of roughly $157 million. That put it around rank 197 by market cap at the time of writing.

Because supply follows demand for the token, there is no inflation schedule or token emission as with a typical crypto asset. The fully diluted value equals the market cap since all tokens are already in circulation.

Trading volume was about $8.9 million over 24 hours at the time of writing. Agora's materials mention platform economics sharing as part of its model, but the exact terms are not covered in the data used here, so check the issuer's documentation for specifics.

Chains and how it is held or traded

AUSD is issued on a long list of networks: Ethereum, Solana, Sui, Base, Arbitrum, Polygon, Avalanche, BNB Chain, Mantle, Core, Katana, Plume Mainnet, Fraxtal, Immutable, Injective and Monad. Each version is a separate token contract, so you need to know which network your AUSD sits on before sending it anywhere.

People typically hold AUSD in a self-custody wallet that supports the relevant chain, or on an exchange or platform that lists it. It can be swapped on decentralized exchanges where liquidity pools exist, or used in lending markets that accept it. Availability varies by chain and platform, and some venues may support it on only one or two networks.

Sending to the wrong network or to an address that does not support the token can result in lost funds, so test with a small transfer first.

History and notable events

Agora announced AUSD's availability on Sui in May 2024, and the token's price history on tracking sites begins around late 2024. Its recorded all-time high was about $1.022 in October 2024, and its all-time low was about $0.9505 in December 2024. Both are small deviations around one dollar, which is normal for a stablecoin.

In May 2025, Agora announced it had integrated proof of reserves. Its materials also mention security and compliance features, including minting and burning controls. Over the past year the price moved only by a few hundredths of a percent, consistent with a stable peg.

The exact launch date is not given in the data used for this page, so it is left out here.

Risks

Stablecoins carry risks that differ from those of volatile crypto assets. The main ones for AUSD are:

  • Reserve and custody risk. The peg depends on the reserves actually existing and being accessible. A problem at a custodian bank, fund manager or the issuer could affect redemption.
  • Depeg risk. The price has dipped to around $0.95 before, and could do so again in stressed markets or if confidence falls.
  • Regulatory risk. Stablecoin rules differ by country and can change, which might affect issuance, access or redemption.
  • Smart contract risk. Bugs in the token contract, bridges or any protocol where it is used can cause losses.
  • Centralized controls. Issuers can often freeze or restrict tokens for compliance reasons, and minting and burning are managed by the issuer.
  • Redemption access. Direct redemption is often limited to approved institutional users, so most holders depend on market liquidity to exit.

How to store it safely

Use a reputable wallet that supports the chain you are on, and keep the recovery phrase offline and private. Never share it or type it into a website. A hardware wallet adds protection for larger balances.

Confirm the token's contract address from official sources before adding or swapping it, since fake tokens with similar names exist. Double-check the network before every transfer, and send a small test amount first.

Be cautious with token approvals in decentralized apps. Grant only what you need and revoke old permissions you no longer use. If you hold AUSD on an exchange, remember that the platform controls the keys, so your funds depend on its security and solvency.

If you spread holdings across several stablecoins or platforms, you reduce dependence on any one issuer, though each has its own risks.

By the numbers

AUSD in numbers

AUSD (AUSD) is ranked #194 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $156M and a price of $0.9990 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($156M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.

The price was up 0.0% over 7 days, down 0.1% over 30 days, down 0.1% over the past year. It trades about 2% below its all-time high of $1.02, set on Oct 5, 2024.

About 156.12M AUSD are in circulation. No hard maximum supply is listed, so new tokens can still be issued.

24-hour trading volume was about $13.2M, or 8.4% of its market cap: high turnover.

AUSD has token contracts on 16 chains we track, including Ethereum, Sui, Core, Mantle. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

CoinGecko groups AUSD under Stablecoins.
