Babylon Genesis is a standalone Layer 1 blockchain built on the Cosmos SDK. Its main purpose is to connect Bitcoin to proof-of-stake systems. Bitcoin holders can stake BTC using Taproot outputs on the Bitcoin network, and Babylon Genesis coordinates that staking and the finality signals around it. The chain is not EVM-based. It uses Cosmos tooling such as IBC and CosmWasm, so it works differently from Ethereum-style networks.
The native token is BABY. It is used to pay network fees and to take part in the chain's own proof-of-stake security. Fees are paid in BABY, so you need a small balance to use apps directly on the chain. Native DeFi activity is still small: total value locked in DeFi was only about $210,759 at the time of writing.
The ecosystem is built around Bitcoin staking and restaking, not trading or games. SatLayer lets BTC secure services called BVSs, and b14g offers a dual-staking layer, though b14g has reported an unauthorized transfer and deserves extra caution. Persistence DEX handles swaps of XPRT, BTC variants, liquid staking tokens and stablecoins. Large centralized exchanges such as Bitget, Gate and Gate US also show up in our list of 7 dApps. Always do your own research on each one.

Frequently asked questions
What is Babylon Genesis?
Babylon Genesis is a standalone Layer 1 blockchain built with the Cosmos SDK. It coordinates Bitcoin staking so that BTC held on the Bitcoin network can help secure proof-of-stake systems. Bitcoin holders can take part without handing their coins to an intermediary.
Is Babylon Genesis EVM compatible?
Babylon Genesis is not an EVM chain. It is built on the Cosmos SDK and uses Cosmos tooling such as IBC and CosmWasm, so apps are written differently from those on Ethereum-style chains.
What is the BABY token used for?
BABY is the native token of Babylon Genesis. It is used for network fees and for staking in the chain's proof-of-stake system. Check the current tokenomics and staking terms before relying on any particular use.
Which dApps are available on Babylon Genesis?
Our site lists 7 dApps on Babylon Genesis. They include SatLayer for Bitcoin restaking, b14g for dual staking and Persistence DEX for swaps. Exchange listings such as Bitget and Gate also appear because they support the chain's assets.
Is Bitcoin staking on Babylon the same as lending my BTC?
Not exactly. Bitcoin staking here means locking BTC, in a way that does not require wrapping or handing it to a custodian, to help secure other chains. Rewards are not guaranteed, and lock-up periods and slashing or smart-contract risks can apply. Read each protocol's terms first.
Are Babylon Genesis dApps safe to use?
Restaking and dual-staking protocols carry real risk. b14g, for example, reported an unauthorized transfer of about 97M CORE, which is reflected in its lower score on our site. Check audits, incident history and your own risk tolerance, and never stake more than you can afford to lose.
