Persistence DEX Review 2026: BTCFi Swaps on Cosmos

Persistence DEX is a Cosmos-based exchange from Persistence One for swapping XPRT, BTC variants, liquid staking tokens and stablecoins. Its TVL is tiny, so it suits niche users rather than general traders.

By the DappsAtlas editorial team · Updated

Our verdict on Persistence DEX

5.5/10

Persistence DEX suits Cosmos users who hold XPRT, BTC variants or liquid staking tokens and want a venue for those specific assets. Its strengths are a clear focus, a multi-swap feature and linked audits. The main caveat is size: TVL is about $16,500, a default pair showed no route, and some stablecoin pool deposits were paused. Check liquidity and the audit reports first, and keep trade sizes small.

What is Persistence DEX?

Persistence DEX is a decentralized exchange built by Persistence One. It started as Dexter, which launched on the Core-1 network in March 2023, and was later renamed. It is listed as running on Persistence and Babylon Genesis.

The project now describes itself as a BTCFi Liquidity Hub, aiming at fast swaps with very low slippage for BTC variants, BTCfi tokens and XPRT. It also supports liquid staking tokens and stablecoins.

Scale is the main caveat. Total value locked is about $16,500, and the project's X account noted that new deposits into some USDC pools were paused. That makes it a small, specialist venue.

How Persistence DEX works

Persistence DEX is an on-chain exchange. Instead of an order book, it uses liquidity pools, which are shared stocks of two or more tokens. When you swap, the app finds a route through those pools and quotes a price based on pool balances.

Liquidity providers deposit assets into pools and earn a share of trading activity. The project says the DEX is governed by XPRT holders and is built for XPRT, BTC variants, liquid staking tokens and stablecoins.

Users connect a Cosmos-compatible wallet, pick the network, then choose the tokens to swap. If no pool path exists between two tokens, the app shows 'No Trading Route Found', as it did for the default ATOM to XPRT example.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Clear niche focus on XPRT, BTC variants, liquid staking tokens and stablecoins
  • Multi-swap feature described in the project guides
  • Audits, docs and a bug report page are linked from the app
  • Supports Persistence and Babylon networks from one interface
  • Long-running project history, with Dexter launching in March 2023

Watch out for

  • TVL is very small at about $16,500, so liquidity is thin and larger swaps may find no route or poor pricing
  • The homepage swap box showed 'No Trading Route Found' for an ATOM to XPRT example, which shows that pair coverage is limited
  • New deposits into the USDC/USDT and DYDX/USDC pools were paused, per a post on the project's X account
  • Needs a Cosmos-style wallet such as Keplr or Leap, which is unfamiliar to many EVM-only users
  • The project does not publish fee levels on the swap page, and audit details are only linked, not summarised
  • Focus on BTC variants and XPRT ties its usefulness to the BTCFi niche and to the Persistence ecosystem

Persistence DEX fees

Persistence DEX does not publish a fee schedule on the swap page. The interface shows a 0.5% setting that looks like slippage tolerance, not a trading fee.

Pool-level swap fees and network transaction fees would be shown inside the app when a route is quoted, and in the project docs. Check them before confirming any trade.

Is Persistence DEX safe?

The app links to a Security Audits page, and the analytics listing shows two audits. This review does not summarise the audit findings, so read the reports before depositing. The project does not name auditors on the swap page.

As with any DEX, risks include smart-contract bugs, low liquidity, wallet errors and price slippage. With only about $16,500 in TVL, pools can be moved sharply by small trades. The project also paused new deposits in some stablecoin pools. Users control their own keys through their wallet, so there is no custodial exchange account.

6 steps

How to get started with Persistence DEX

  1. 1

Install a compatible wallet such as Keplr or Leap.

  2. 2

Open the Persistence DEX app and click Connect Wallet at the top right.

  3. 3

Choose the network, Persistence or Babylon, that holds your assets.

  4. 4

Select the asset to swap in and the asset to receive, then review the quoted route and the slippage setting.

  5. 5

Confirm the swap in your wallet and check the Transaction History page.

  6. 6

To provide liquidity, open the Pools tab and check whether deposits are open for that pool first.

Who Persistence DEX is for

Persistence DEX is for holders of XPRT, BTC variants and liquid staking tokens in the Cosmos ecosystem who already use a wallet like Keplr or Leap. It is less suited to traders needing deep liquidity or a wide token list.

Persistence DEX FAQs

What is Persistence DEX?

Persistence DEX is a decentralized exchange built by Persistence One. It lets users swap XPRT, BTC variants, liquid staking tokens and stablecoins, and provide liquidity to pools. It was previously called Dexter.

Which wallets and networks does Persistence DEX support?

The app lists Persistence and Babylon as supported networks. Per the project docs, users connect a wallet such as Keplr or Leap from the top right of the app. Other wallet options may exist, but only those are named in the sources.

Was Persistence DEX formerly Dexter?

Dexter launched on the Core-1 network in March 2023 and later became Persistence DEX. The project describes a V2 mainnet with incentives for swapping BTC variants.

What are the fees on Persistence DEX?

The swap interface shows a 0.5% setting next to the swap panel, which appears to be slippage tolerance. Trading fees and pool fees are not stated on the page, so check the pool details inside the app before trading.

Does Persistence DEX use the XPRT token?

The project says it governs the DEX with XPRT, and the exchange is built around swapping XPRT. The swap form on the homepage defaults to ATOM and XPRT, though a route was not found in that example.

Is Persistence DEX liquid enough for big trades?

Liquidity is very low, with TVL around $16,500, so slippage can be high on anything beyond small trades. Pool deposits are also paused for some stablecoin pairs. Check pool depth in the app before trading and never risk more than you can afford to lose.
