Shiden is a smart contract network that runs as a parachain on Kusama, the experimental sister network of Polkadot. It gets its security from the Kusama relay chain, while its own collators produce blocks for the parachain. It supports the Ethereum Virtual Machine, so Solidity apps and familiar wallets can work with it. It also supports WebAssembly contracts, which gives developers a second way to build.

The native token is SDN, which is used to pay transaction fees and to take part in the network. Fees are paid in SDN rather than in ETH, so you need a small balance of it to use apps on the chain. Token prices move constantly, so check a live source before making any decision.

The DeFi side of Shiden is very quiet. Our data shows a DeFi TVL of $0 at the time of writing, and we list only three dApps. KACO Finance is a small DEX and NFT fractionalization project that also runs on BNB Chain, and it shows very low TVL and little recent activity. cBridge, Celer Network's cross-chain bridge, is also listed, although most of its routes cover networks like Ethereum, Arbitrum and Polygon. Review each app carefully and only use funds you can afford to lose.

Frequently asked questions

What is Shiden Network?

Shiden is a smart contract network that runs as a parachain on Kusama. Developers use it to deploy decentralized applications, and users interact with them using the SDN token for fees.

Is Shiden compatible with Ethereum?

Yes, Shiden supports the Ethereum Virtual Machine, so Solidity contracts and common Ethereum wallets can work with it. It also supports WebAssembly contracts, which is a different route for developers who prefer that tooling.

What is the SDN token used for?

SDN is the native token of Shiden. It is used to pay transaction fees and to take part in the network's staking and governance-related activity. Its price changes constantly, so check a live market source before acting on any figure.

How does Shiden relate to Kusama?

Shiden is a parachain, meaning it plugs into the Kusama relay chain and relies on that chain for shared security. Kusama is a sister network to Polkadot and is often used as a proving ground for new features. Shiden is built for projects that want to launch in that environment.

How much value is locked in Shiden DeFi?

Our data shows a DeFi TVL of $0 for Shiden at the time of writing, so on-chain DeFi activity is very limited. Treat any dApp there with caution and check its recent activity before you deposit funds.

Which dApps are listed for Shiden?

We list three dApps for Shiden, including the bridge cBridge and the DEX KACO Finance. KACO Finance has a TVL of about $4,365 at the time of writing, with signs of low activity. cBridge is mainly used across other networks such as Ethereum, Arbitrum and Polygon.

What is the largest dApp on Shiden by TVL?

cBridge is the largest dApp on Shiden by total value locked, with $11.7M across all the chains it supports. It is followed by PolkaEx ($8.74K) and KACO Finance ($4.30K). TVL figures come from DefiLlama and change daily.

Which dApp on Shiden has the highest DappsAtlas score?

cBridge has the highest score at 7.3/10, ahead of Moon Usdt Miner (5.8) and Moonsta s Revenge (5.8). Scores weigh security, ease of use, fees and features, and are based only on facts we could verify.
