Shiden is a smart contract network that runs as a parachain on Kusama, the experimental sister network of Polkadot. It gets its security from the Kusama relay chain, while its own collators produce blocks for the parachain. It supports the Ethereum Virtual Machine, so Solidity apps and familiar wallets can work with it. It also supports WebAssembly contracts, which gives developers a second way to build.
The native token is SDN, which is used to pay transaction fees and to take part in the network. Fees are paid in SDN rather than in ETH, so you need a small balance of it to use apps on the chain. Token prices move constantly, so check a live source before making any decision.
